Dirty, I recently passed step 1 and I just wanted to come back and tell you how much I appreciate you. There were many questions I got right on my test because of your pearls of wisdom and awesome Dirty Med mnemonics. For those studying for step 1, I cannot recommend this channel highly enough. Please please please watch as many of his videos as you can and memorize the mnemonics. They really do work!!
@@fatimamuhammad3606 ended up with covid which kinda derailed my studying and then clerskhips started right after so just taking step 2 only (I'm a do student).
You are chosen by God to save medical students or biochemistry students. After attending three lectures of glycolysis and gluconeogenesis I didn't understand but your few minutes videos have made me understand. Long live
When Dirty said "love you" at the end, I felt that. Love you too SO MUCH lol. Thank you, Dirty. I've gained a new appreciation of Biochemistry (and tbh, medicine in general) thanks to you. You're awesome.
I was so confused about the fructose 2,6 bisphosphate part until I watched this video. It cleared up all my confusions within a couple minutes. Thank you so much for your videos and saving me hours of frustration!!
I try Physeo, Prixorize, USmle rx express videos, BnB, but it was YOU : OUR USMLE KING DIRTY MEDICINE who explain it simple and easy, GOD BLESS YOU i want to be like you👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I wish we could give you all our tuition. You are literal God-sent to us to save us from misery, mental-breakdowns,and final cramming for a test. Thank you doesn't even do you enough justice!!
I promise that when I get my licence in the US and get a job or match, I will unite to your channel and pay... tanks for these. You and Ninja Nerd are saviors
I just have to say I wish I had found your page so much sooner! I am studying for step 1 and Biochemistry has been absolutely killing me. I have spent so many hours studying it, and I feel like I had nothing to show for it. Nothing would stick because I would get bogged down in all the extra. A friend of mine with similar struggles suggested I tried your page, and now I have a renewed hope that this is possible. Thank you so much for your work. I look forward to continuing this series!
You literally read my mind! Searched for glycolysis on your channel before bed, didn't find it, was sad, and then woke up to a brand new video on exactly what I needed!! Thank you!!
This is an excellent video with excellent analogies that makes it super simple to understand. One extra detail to note here is that Pyruvate Kinase can also be activated by F16BP (+ feedback). I believe this was mentioned in Kaplan MCAT Biochemistry.
you really helped me to understand this better than i ever imagined. i’m struggling reading its module bc our prof did not manage to discuss this due to quarantine & thank you omg you’re a life saver!!
your videos are a gift from heaven!! I'm a student from germany, and sadly there are very few good videos in my language on this topic, and yours help me so so much!! Keep up the good work!
I am not sure what you are doing now in life, but you are such a blessing! God bless you , protect you and keep you safe and nourished in the years ahead in Jesus name. You are such a blessing and I am actually loving this instead of HATING it like i used to!!
It is also high yield to know that conversion of glyceraldehyde 3 phospate into 1,3 biphosphohlycerate needs NAD+ as cofactor of glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate dehydeogenase. This is something that has been asked in uworld in the context of alcohol ketoacidosis where there is NAD depletion (due to NADH acummulation) or LDH deficiency, where you are NAD depleted, as in normal conditios the conversion of pyruvate into lactate uses NADH and finally converts into NAD to be used in this specific glycolisis step. In this 2 scenarios you would not have NAD, thus glycolisis can not procede anymore as there would not be any cofactor for G3P dehydeogenase, explaining why patients with alcoholic ketoacidosis and LDH Deficiency have hypoglycemia.
I love your videos I have been struggling to get the big picture of everything and have watched a ton of videos I should have found this earlier 😢😢 thank you ❤❤

You inspired me to come up with this one.
Difference in the relationship between hexokinase and glucokinase:
"Hexokinase asks for Help"
and Glucokinase Gives help
Your videos have proven to be not only simple but also highly comprehensible, allowing me to successfully pass my biochem test. Thank you so much!

I love to re-name it "pyruvate ADP kinase" because it does NOT take away a Pi from the ATP but from the substrate; it is a confusing name
Amazingly explained ! Thank you so much
thank you dirty , really appreciate your videos
Thank you 👍🙏
Please dirty if you can make a purine synthesis/salvage pathway video that would be amazing
This is on the list to be done soon
