- Statement of a true car guy
Thanks dude...:)
Being able to drive a car for yourself, not as a status symbol. I fear, we will die out soon.
@@BlueRidgeMB this thing is one hell of a car, i hope it still runs good till this day :)
It's like that statement came from Heaven
@datzed azz in you don't have to be good at mathzz to buy it
This guy, rocking no shoes, driving an old AMG-wagon from 80's and using a Motorola phone, clearly knows what matters in life.
Thank You kind Sir!! I nominate you for top comment of the thread...although I may have a slight bias. Regardless, Thanks for getting It;-)
So true...

@@BlueRidgeMB You have my dream car. It's so wonderful! Please post more!
@@brandongascho6437 Thank you Sir! Don't have much in the way of video out there but we do have a number of photos on our Instagram page, Blue Ridge MB if you care to wonder by for a look...:)
Wow, back in 1987 this six liter, 400hp brute of a wagon must have brought many sports- and muscle car owners to tears...
Meteor Media muscle cars hardly made 250 hp in the 80’s and early 90’s so yep
@@kevinellis1232 wow you must be a real car enthusiast
it's definitely not getting beat by any american car from 1987
it still does ! :))
well, considering how much this thing cost, I'd expect it to stomp everything else. A comparison of lbs per horsepower over purchase price would be interesting...
That body style is god damn timeless. Love it.
I do not find the rear to be time less. Same with the w202-w204 generations. The station wagons always got ugly portrait tail lights
Nephi McKnight looks a bit like the g class as a wagon
Somewhere in Canada back in 1987, a brand new foxbody got spanked by a lady in a blue station wagon. Mullet and all.
Lol
Wait, what? The lady had a mullet? Now that's just crazy!
Those cars are so tastefully modified and made. Low, but not scraping. Fast, but not overwhelming. Must have been a great time to be wealthy :-D
It's always a good time to be wealthy :D
Back then 400 hp were quiet overwhelming I must say :D Never the less these cars will never go out of style as you said man
Totally different era. It was the golden time for non american cars I reckon, the 80s and 90s. Even a simple "eco-box" grocery getter hatch was a blast to drive. Nothing today compares in the slightest to those days. I mean, you know you're in trouble when even a Civic starts tipping the scales over 1300kg's.
When I come to power we're going to have a little talk about reversing this.
@@Flyingdutchy33 "When I come to power we're going to have a little talk about reversing this."
Can I vote for you, or do you have a different strategy in mind?
@@kiisu74 Whatever gets me there man
what a beautiful car, looks so much better than modern cars.
iamjesper In my opinion all cars look beautiful in their own way, but you have opinions too.
But the prius and multipla are excluded from this
The modern Mercedes, and others, are so 'over the top' when it comes to styling, LED lights, and so on nowadays. Naturally it's because of competition, you have to come up with some new 'extreemes' regarding design all the time. I love the 'modest' look of the W124, simple clean lines. Yeah, it's all a mattor of personal taste. Well, I'm a w124 guy naturally) I just not have any interest in the modern computer cars, just love the classics
People in general don't care about the technical stuff , they just care about that the LED lights looks cool, and that the brand come up with a new model in 4-5 years, that got even more LED lights
Not everybody wants to deal with mechanics/finding rare parts/getting rid of rust/the car stays on the parking lot for months because nobody knows how to repair it. Sometimes buying new can be even cheaper option than having to revive some old, a it more exotic car (I;m not talking about special cars like ferrari, these are nightmare to maintain) I'm into old alfas having in my garage 155/164/156gta all restored to mint condition, but to my work i ride with my brand new volkswagen jetta 1.4 tsi. This car will last 6-7 years without any problems, I had many vag cars with this engine in my work and none of them had any problems reaching 220-230 k km. For me this could mean even 10 years driving without any major mechanical problems. This peace of mind, that's why people buy new "plastic" (10 times more safer than old ones) cars.
That car is pure art. The engine doesn't scream.. It sings.. very passionately..
Once you drive a Benz, everything else becomes irrelevant. Whatva beauty!
I first learned of the hammer and AMG back in the 80s as a teenager from reading car and driver magazine. What a legendary vehicle. It’s a damn shame what AMG has become since
This one really pulls at the heart strings. What a beauty.
Those are the emotions that no other modern car can give you.
The roar of that engine is unmistakable! One of the best melodies ever made!
As I said before, these are the kind of stories we enjoy. Yes, show us the car, but tell the story as well.
This car is absolutely stunning. Its shame not many people know what the AMG Hammer is. AMG HAMMER is immortal
why does an '80's car with an aero kit and proper stance look better than 98.999%(+/-1.001%) of cars made in the last 19 years?
Because they still have the rough edges and clear shapes. For the sake of aerodynamics, cars tend to have more uniform lines this day - which isn't bad in itself, it's just hard to define a distinct character of the car.
It looks great because every car was made to look special.
Unlike now, every manufacturer has a corporate face which Audi started.
@@Singdollar man I hate the corporate face. It doesn't make sense to have a car that looks like other 5 cars, like all the Volkswagen. Back in the day every car has their own personality
Some of it also has to do with safety regulations such as pedestrian collision and crumple zones. Take a look at some ugly cars' original designs, some of the ugliest cars were gorgeous but once it goes through corporate and they see the cost of building it to be beautiful they start to enforce changes. Nothing they like more than making money so they reuse bits/tooling from old cars they have or other manufacturers that fall under ownership of the parent company. Basically safety and money is why.
It's all about taste. In my opinion it looks boxy and ugly. All I can think of when I see it are trashy necbeards who think they are fancy simply because it has Mercedes logos on it.
What a beas! 400hp in 1987!
opel omega
*Lotus Omega
* Turbolag Omega :D
www.auto-data.net/en/?f=showSubModel&modeli_id=245
I don't see any Omega in that era. It had strong models, yeah, but this was still earlier. Not a merc fan but still. Props to Mercedes. And hey, if it was kept in mint condition, it would still work just fine today.
The 'Lotus Omega / Lotus Carlton' was not until 1990...
No words can describe how beautiful is this
When AMG logo was embossed in the body...just bad ass
I fell in love with this car as a 6 year old. Had a poster of it on my wall along with the saloon. I still want it :-(
Banner1986 a wall poster of a station wagon. now that's non-existent lol
Well, it is now :( My sister got ahold of it a couple years later and shredded the damn thing. Used to have all kinds of memorabilia... Now... not so much :-(
+Banner1986 Dis-own her immediately...... jk
Haha! Same thing here, except it was 2 generations ahead of this one, since I am 10 years younger than you.
Bought an 1993 280TE Sportline wagon a couple of weeks ago, its not an amg, but the same chassis. Visit germany and take one home.
This makes me so proud to work for Mercedes as an engineer. Big love, dude!
What a bloke 👍🏻🇬🇧
Its almost like a piece of art, what a beautiful car!
AvgSubscriber it is a piece of art
Not almost
the absolute best sound to come from a v8. NOTHING compares period!!!
The one driving and the one being driven in this car would equally love the thrill of being inside one of this kind.
What a beautiful car. It has aged incredibly well!!!
These are the best years of Mercedes Benz, up until early 90s
just before bringing the Chrysler group to bankruptcy
Bro 500e
That Garage, dang! W124 is my favorite MB Series, cant go wrong with these
Fantastic car.. wow.. My Father has a W126 500SEC that used to be a show car in the early '80's.. that thing still goes like a rocket! Cars then just had so much more character than most modern stuff.. superb video as usual guys!
My dream car is a 959...This AMG wagon is a very close 2nd. That is a beautiful wagon.
I wouldn't mind having a 959 either...;-) Thank you, Couldn't agree more...we just had her and 6 other Hammers up in NY at The Bridge for their show, was great to get them out and Drive some.
Never knew there was a wagon version of the hammer I am now in love
Jon is a great guy and so knowledgeable. He keeps my r129 running so well. The blue Hammer is wonderful.
This generation of Mercedes-Benz E-Class as well as the contemporary BMW 5-Series from the same era were the best looking, most solid cars you could get. They're legendary.
These old boxy Mercedes Wagons are by far some of, if not the best looking cars on the road in my opinion. Would be such a dream come true to own something like this.
This is the one of the best UA-cam channels I have ever seen. The cinematography is incredible, the people and their stories are always interesting and excellent, and th cars are something else entirely. I can't believe you don't have more subscribers.
Have a 300TE and loving it. But this is something else. An ultimate machine.
What a car! I have always loved that body shape and had no idea AMG produced a hammer wagon. It's so damn cool!
I love the music in this episode! It just matches the car/theme of this video.
This made me smile, its like my experience with amg. I want to go for a ride, but its 40 below here and snowing:/. Its a weird but awesome feeling having all that power without showing it or others knowing. I love it.
From a station wagon guy.........have fun with it !!! My dream car !!!
This is indeed the greatest video on the internet.
I love, love, love, the sound of that engine!
Hammer time
Shin obi She's a Super Freak
Im soooo excited about this car, getting a 1992 model soon. I love the video.
Wow...I drive a 2019 AMG C43 wagon (Canadian edition 385hp) and I'm still jealous of your car.
Oh men you should be restful
Ah the 80's, best era for cars and music !
I still want to thank Mercedes for still making the Bonkers E63 AMG Estate
if you look closely you'll see the New/New 2018 E63S Estate in the background of one of the shots...;-)
Thank you so much. A modern classic high-performance wagon.
Absolutely gorgeous despite a bit of body roll. Whilst I can only dream of a "Hammer" I am determined to find a nice 320; in the early 90's in the UK other people knew you had arrived if you had one
Make me one too! As long as there are power wagons like these on the streets, all is right.
Call us up, happy to! Have one in front already, S124 w/ 7.6L M120..;-)
That body roll.
The Autobahn and the straight piece of roadway are an AMG's happy places, was the case back then and to a large extent is still the case today
It isn't the case today trust me. I've driven everything from the amg gtr to the new s 400dL and an E all terain. When you push them like really fast into corners, the dampers etc adjust and bodyroll wise, there's absolutely no bodyroll. The S class is still one big lady but it does stay planted.
I know older cars have way more body roll, but for such a lowered kit I'd expected better; perhaps some tired springs & shocks or chopped too much ?
This isn't haggard garage, I don't believe any of the cars featured on this channel were on chopped springs...
better? Roll is not a bad thing - particularly with older suspension setups. Might be progressive dampers that allow a little soft initial roll then stiffen up. Anyway, on the road it's preferable to have some roll than a rock-hard stiff ride.
There is so much passion in this video, I can almost grab it off the air.
Thanks Oliver...glad you Feel it..I did my best to convey it.
What a rare beauty
it just has that perfect oldschool naturally aspirated sound.
i cried just a little bit after watching this video.
The W124 is still the most beautiful E-Class of all time. For me, it’s the definition of Mercedes-Benz.
One of the most beautiful benz ever made!
We agree 110% sir! thanks for the kind words...:)
Stop..... Hammer Time
ne2i Ha! I was waiting for someone to say that.
I haven't read all the comments yet but I'm sure somewhere in here someone said
"Can't Touch This."
Teenagers today probably won't get the reference.
doom, doom doom doom! doom, doom doom - doom doom!
What a sound! It's sort of low and growly but sounds like it loves revs at the same time.
Awesome video as usual!
The ultimate sleeper wagon of the 80s! If you need something that is practical enough to complete your daily errands, yet still powerful enough to have some fun or scare your buddies, this car is for you.
Every time I see an AMG wagon (almost never, especially in the states), a part of me can't help but give a nod and a grin to the driver
Wagons are so badass
I've got a 99 c43 and drove the piss out of it for 50k+ miles. 175000 miles and still running great.
Nothing like old-school amgs
MBZ released this rocket wagon when I was in high school. It was over engineered and built like a tank--top 10 of all time. Great lines too if I also may add.
Hiaruga your profile picture made me think it was a hair
Exact same memories with the rear facing seats in the old volvo station wagon my dad had. We flip off every one behind us - until we got in Trouble. Good times.
perfect...:)
wow! they really got the lines right on this vehicle! it's beautiful!! timeless.
I'm not a Mercedes fan, but this one has opened up my eyes! Lit af
Left work one day in my Golf 16v GTI. Got blown away from the lights by what I thought was a basic e-class. That was my introduction to the Hammer.
The production quality and love shows with every shot of your footage. +Petrolicious you are unrivaled. You stir up the excitement and joy I've had for automobiles my entire life and haven't had the opportunity or ability to express. I can't thank you enough. You're doing God's Work.
Video, the way it is edited, the picture, music and your comments and shure the car: everything is just brilliant! Greetings from Russia.
Very kind of you Sir! The crew did an Awesome job, it was a Blast working with them..and it was a Surprising amount of work for what you see here! Y'all keep warm out there...and thanks again:) Make sure you come to Atlanta if you make it over here to America!
This car back at the time when it was made was beyond supercars. I mean 400HP is a lot today, back then it was supercar power so to have it in Mercedes estate was like a Bugatti Chiron estate or wagon or whatever you want to call this type of body today! I love it. My first car was an avant, second one was turing, curent one is an estate again. I guess you can see the pattern here...
ardvark gets it...TY Sir!
It has wipers on the headlights that's awesome.
That's Jono,he owns Blue Ridge Mercedes in Norcross, right outside of Atlanta.
I've seen the car in person it's a looker.
"I know. And it's awesome" would make for a great T-shirt to wear while driving that beauty.
My favorite AMG! Really want to buy an old MB estate like it and build it into a "Hammer"
its not easy nor easy on the pockets my friend - but if you love them, its worth a try
Never been a merc guy, but damn this car is special.
There’s somthing about driving an older 80’s Mercedes. Dosent need to be fast or handle good. Some other cars just can’t compare
Never herd of this till now. Truly a special car.
Killer wagon. Love it.
So much body roll!
You matched the paint on the wheels like they used to. 10/10.
Fast German wagons are the best. I have a daily driver 2000 540i touring that's got around 300hp, so while it's not as fast as that Hammer Wagon, it's a lot of fun to drive in its own way. Eventually I'll swap in an 5L engine from an M5 and have a 400hp wagon, that would be nice.
Danny's Garage My father used to have this car, totally loved the V8 sound!
❤E39❤
Supercharge your M62 :)
I had a 99’ 525i with the 5 speed manual. I am looking for another one
Two days ago I spotted an AMG "station wagon" on Route 101 near my home in New Hampshire. Had never even seen a picture of one, but new it wasn't a run of the mill wagon.
Classic AMG's are the best!
He said "even if no one else knows, I know."
Believe me buddy, we get it. At least some of us get it. And those who don't should get it after this video. I'd be hard pressed to choose between this and an M-wagon. As usual Petrolicious, good stuff!
That thing is ABSOLUTELY awesome my good sir
Thank you Kindly! Glad you enjoyed.. :)
I want this wagon! I am fine with the non AMG version!
Great proper sleeper.
How do I find unicorns like this?
Money.
LMAO yes, when you have the necessary "Kleingeld", the unicorns find YOU.
Barrett Jackson. Looks like this exact one and another sold there back in 2010
Patience is Really the key IME...;-)
the coupe, she lives here now as well since about 2 years ago.
Oh man what a beautiful car. I love the 124 series of Mercedes. Pure understatement.
@5:01 so nice to hear him refer to Mercedes as a 'marque' and not a 'brand'.
Here for the 10th time never gets old to watch this car..
Here in Europe we love station wagons, specially when you have family obligations. Even for today's standards this model is unique. How I would love to get one of these on my garage standing next to his current grandson.
Thank you again Petrolicious for making my day with such act of class.
As a kid of the 80's, the Hammer is STILL a dream car to me! This guy has an AMAZING garage!
Thank you Sir! If you should ever be in around the Atlanta are please feel free to stop on by...we're here @ least 6 days a week:)
Thank you very much for the invite and I'll take you up on it when I'm in the Atlanta area.
I hope that you guys find someone with a 1993-94 Mercedes Benz W124 E420, so you can make a video as good as this of them. My dad had that car and I hope that someday i can get it.
That's exactly what matters. Long life to you, good man.
Same to You kind Sir...:) Thank you!!
This car is so cool and collectable
respect for that canadian guy
They diluted the brand too much. Now there is amg, amg s, amg black and those "half" amg's...
@Death Star II The stupid A-class with 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine.
@Death Star II I doubt it will fit. Even if it would it doesn't change the fact that it is not a proper AMG. It is just a half, as saavaa said.
Pine I’m Guessing the C43, E43, A35, care like that
Yeah. Gender studies is needed now
AMG back in those days was a completely independent company, who were allowed to do virtually anything they wanted with Mercedes vehicles, and came up with some of the most iconic cars on the planet.
Now it's a subsidiary of Daimler AG, that does as Mercedes tells it, basically just a marketing exercise looking at some of the garbage that's diluted it's brand.. Apart from the Black edition cars, AMG really is just a badge that costs more to buy..
I had a W124 Wagon when I was 18 years old.. I learned how to drift during the harsh Norwegian winters in that baby. Was so much fun. Had it for 5 years and at the end it was drinking oil, but still refused to die. I sold it to a guy who shipped parts to some eastern european country where it gave it's parts to taxis that still run to this date... When I have the money saved up I will for sure buy the flagship E500 w124 sedan, which is just a beatiful car with widened wheel arches from factory. W124 best era of mercedes
Im not Mercedes fan but i love this serie
