I have diagnosed DID. Been in treatment for 2 years. My life has never been better now. We have integrated so much of ourselves and have learned to work together for our common goals. My alter or “parts” were my biggest curse and now I feel like I have a low key super power. I am never alone. I have all I need inside of me. I am whole.
As far as the voices, one way that I've heard it described that resonated with me as the host of a system myself, was that the voices are technically your voice, same vocal cords after all, and they might (or might not) use the same grammar and styling, but their words are written in the mind's eye in a distinctly different font. That is what makes them different from one's own thoughts.
Thank you so much for uploading videos. I am an aspiring psychiatrist and have no one to ask these kinds of questions too yet. I appreciate you so much, thank you!
check outJanina Fisher And Pesi this is a rather simplistic discussion on DiD. we were dx @ 54 yrs thereare many other important issues. but nothing here is misinformation or damaging different parts/alters can have different co morbid issues.
war/ extreme medical situations VERY YOUNG can also lead to DiD. the whole key to the development is NOT the abuse only it develops b/c the child has no caregivers who can support them. DiD is a result when attachment trauma is also predominant.
Thank you for this comment. Often there is neglect in addition to abuse, for example adults have not believed children, when the children have spoken about abuse, or adults have not intervened to stop the abuse. Peter Goertz
I am currently in therapy but I’m scared that if I tell my therapist I think I have D.I.D. he will automatically say I don’t have it. Is it possible to have D.I.D. without hearing voices and without complete amnesia? I do have complete amnesia from childhood but the present amnesia is more foggy rather than complete.

It’s refreshing to hear from a psychiatrist who actually believes in DID. Thank you for being a scientist and not a biased, assuming hack. 👍

Every person with DID does not have fugue and every person with DID does not have names for their alters.
Some alters don't have names. Sometimes, a fugue occurs only during severe crisis.

Diagnosis can be accomplished within two visits, but treament takes significantly longer.
I didnt know you went to NYU for Residency! Thats my dream Medical School and Residency Program.
My residency at NYU was a good experience.
A lot of people aren't aware that they have DID.

It may be wise talk about this in detail with a psychotherapist.
