Just a heads up.. That line that goes back up to the front goes into the intake. It does do something. If you leave everything alone up front, when the EVAP solenoid goes open .. You will be sucking air (without fuel vapor), post MAF... Just a heads up in terms of potentially causing lean conditions. And as stated below you will need a roll over check valve to pass track tech safety. Thanks for the vid!
Fuel emissions from evap in the the vent can gum up your filters. (Same stuff that winds up in the crevices of your fuel door if you dont clean it often.) Point being, you gotta check and clean the vent filter often if you do remove the canister. Ethanol is worse than gasoline so if you run corn you should check it more often.
@@ParkerTheBasshead hey bud, I was wanting to change my ebrake handle and boot. You got a write up on how to remove the leather and put on an aftermarket handle? Ive got a bride shift boot I wanna get like a carbon or titanium handle, maybe a drift button if I can find one that locks and unlocks.
David Haynie mine being older it does not have a boot so I’m not sure how to go about removing it without seeing it. However, that is a cool idea and I’m sure it will look awesome ones you’re done!
@@davidhaynie5599 I just yanked the old leather one off and mounted the nrg one. Blue locktite on the bolt threads and bearing lube on the button. Wiped off till there wasn't much residue.
Hey its been a couple years now since this was done. Have you noticed any problems with your original set up? Anything you would have done different? Gonna be doing the same to my car real soon..
This is my next project here in just a little bit. I believe mine is clogged I cannot put fuel in my truck I put a new gas tank in it and I've checked everything else out everything seems fine but you have to literally milk the gas in there like just barely squeezing the handle. I've got a 25 gallon fuel tank so it takes a while.
Good video!👍 Did your car throw codes? If so, which codes were associated to the canister issue? I have P1153, P0442 & P1153. They all came on at the same time.
Going to have to cap a port on the intake and due to upgrading to a radium fuel system, use the other port as a reference for my new fuel pulse dampers *drools*
If you do not put a rollover valve or check valve on the breather port, fuel will spill out of that hose in the event of a rollover or serious wreck. Very dangerous. I swapped a tank into my racecar and it wouldn't vent. Had to use a rollover valve.
Hi friend I know that this is an old video, I hope you can help me out I just did this but when I started my car the “medium” sized hose was draining all my fuel, any thoughts?
Thanks for watching guys! Sorry I couldn't get more shots of taking out the bolts but there wasn't much room under there. Also, Putting a 50ohm resistor in the grey plug bypassed the engine code. THANKS!
So would I be able to just add a breather filter like you did in this video? I have a Subaru Outback and I got the p0442 code I replaced my fuel cap so I know it has to be the evap system
I have a 2010 subaru impreza sedan and can not find the canister location. I looked under the car near the filler cap and could not find it. Do you havea suggestion. Thanks
Hi Parker I’m removing mine as well . Where do you install the 50 amp resister? And when you cleared the codes did they come back. My car is also a N.C. registered vehicle. Bobby
Hey Parker. Thanks for the vid! I just deleted my canister today and I can fill my Subie up with gas normally again lol. How did you install the 50ohm resistor/fuse though? Any chance you can send a pic?
Good to hear! Just get a 50ohm resister online or from radio shack. You just bend the ends over and slide it in the connector then tape over so it doesn't come out. I can't find a picture on my phone but see my Airbag Light video!
@@ParkerTheBassheadagain, in regards to this resistor stuff, couldn't I just delete the codes with the tuning software I have? Do I need to run this resistor for this?
James Miller yes the codes can be disabled if you have tuning software! The resistors are just good for tricking the ECU if you don’t have tuning software
I’m actually removing mine to replace it, since I sorta crashed and exploded it into my wheel well while drifting... oh the joys of the world’s most expensive hobby... ;)
Hollo Parker, i did it. All that started. I experience lag on acceleration. so when i whent to verify the canister cables it was broken. The resistor (50ohm) you put on connector is it the one with yellow/green,tan/yellow . after i gat to the engine side to verify the How to Test and Replace PCV Valve it was deleted so now i am looking at pouting a resiter there to if i can.
I just tried to see if I could find a picture but I couldn’t. I don’t remember the color code off the top of my head. I had several resistors and tested them until I found the one that was 50ohms
It causes buildup of unburnt gases that usually get burnt... will cause your engine to misfire without it and run cel for misfire and pv failure. Unwise to take it out
So if I remove this, I should be able to fill my gas tank again? I can't fill it more than 1/4 on my Impreza 2002. I hear removing the charcoal canister is a fix
Could you make a video showing all the intake ports that need to be capped? I have an idea, and I'm buying caps and zip ties tomorrow. But if you know off the top of your head, it would be nice. Doesn't seem to be any 07 STi evap system delete guides.
Here is the write up I used. forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2538954 Should be pretty similar for a 07 STi. I'd love to make a video but it is snowing here and I don't have a garage :(
What is the purpose to remove this canister? I live in an area with snow and salt, I would think that little filter would get dirty fast. When filling gas at the pump seems like gas fluid goes down super slow causing the gas pump to kick out...Not sure what the cause is yet, I basically have to trickle my gas from a gas can to fill up my tank, currently the canister is removed. Any ideas? Bought the car like that.
Did you get the exact size of the filter? To add, someone mentioned a rollover valve, would you have any in mind to suggest? Figure ld have to tie the line up from being heavy at that point
I think it it’s a 3/8-1/2 inch but it was just the stander small one sold at advanced. And no I do not have a recommendation the on the valve but I looked into it a Jegs had a lot of options.
Parker Dacchille lol my canister is a little differnt from the one in your video but should be almost the same i hope gonna try take everything out today and put a filtter
P0442 engine code, EVAP system - small leak detected. Usually caused by overfilling your gas tank, when you are trying to squeeze the most out of that cheap prized gas! 🤣

the charcoal filters are only meant to last I think like 5-7 yrs. the purge valve also like to go bad.
So now with the moved your cruise control won't work
And the obd codes?

What’s the little rubber things with bolts called, the one that hooks the canister to the bracket
what about check engine light after that removal?
Mantioras mnc I think I showed it in the video but you have to put a resister in the plug.
I used a 50ohm and that worked
I just did it, may i ask what are the consequences of removing it ???
Itzukii - the only consequence is it is not as good for emission
Parker Dacchille alright thanks for the reply

They get clogged up after about 10 years of use and will no longer vent properly.
You topped off the gas tank when filling it, didn't you?
