- Located between Gonzales and Luling TX, Palmetto State Park is a tropical oasis in Central Texas. This CCC-built park is small in size, but big on forest shade, wildlife viewing and CCC history. In this video, we take you on a tour of Palmetto State Park. We show you the RV camping loop, tent camping loop, the San Marcos River, and some of the historic CCC structures. We also take you along as we hike some of the trails in search of wildlife and geocaches. Love this video , I have been hiking, tent camping there, one of my favorite parks in Texas , visit it 1 or 2 times a month as often as I can get there. I know at one time the cabin rented for $65 a night plus your entrance fee to the park. This park is so enjoyable the wildlife , the palmettos, the nature , the artesian well and it's history, the San Marcos River and kudos to all the rangers that work there at Palmetto State Park, they're just wonderful people!! If you to Texas State parks Web site and select Palmetto State Park you can download detailed trail maps on to your phone or tablet. One in pdf and one that works with Google Earth.

Could you not pull up the map on the parks app.
+dale kroll We could have pulled it up from the park website. We were already using the phone for geocaching, photos for social media & tracking apps to measure distance, so we didn't think about the website option at the time. You're right. That would have been the thing to do though.
Cost?

We paid 60 bucks for two nights in an electric site, just a car and tent though, we don't have an RV.
You mentioned dog poop on trails. Its a problem and its rude so please dont leave dog poop on the trail. I wouldn't poop on the trail so please don't leave dog poop on the trail ok thank you. Besides all that hope you have a great time lol.
