- Well, we're going for it. The wood under the veneer is not what I thought it would be, but there's a good chance the drums will be all the more interesting for it.
In this episode, we cut the staves for the first drum--the first test drum--and glue up the shell blank.
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your channel two years ago. I really enjoy your content!
i guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Evan Kabir Instablaster :)
@Bjorn Lorenzo thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Bjorn Lorenzo It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account :D
@Evan Kabir no problem :)
I love that Uniontown calculator also. Don't know what I'd do without it! Loved the simple math comment. Same, same, same!
... when I had too much time, I created an Excel sheet for that where I can adjust between 1/8" less or 1/14" and get the maximum thickness after routing
I remember once when you measured from the outside of the blade and set the device to 118 instead of 108 for a 10-stave drum. It’s easy to forget that it’s 90°, not 100° that makes a right angle. We’ve all made that mistake before!
Haha! So true!
Yes, I made it too but 10° instead of 15° was no problem 😉
To calculate the angles bu yourself you take the 360° of the circle. Divide it by the number of staves you want then divide the result by 2... Here, 360/10, 36/2... Boom ! 18...
But i also use this site ! So usefull !
I know! :) The problem isn't the math, it my confidence and the weight of the consequences if I goof up. LOL
That's spooky 😉
Nice explaination with the stave calculator 😉 the drum will have a quite interesting outer finish afzer routing roundly because of the veneer cutting down with the different wood types under
I hope i still have some of the veneer after milling the outside. I want that cobbled-together look. We'll see....
A question: When you typed in the measures in the calculator and mentioned that you don't need extra additional ... when I build stave drums and try to meet the measures of 13 7/8" - the head doesn't fit because the diameter is bigger than calculated. I assume, glue is 1/20" additional to the diameter. So I leave out the extra additionals at my next project, too and hope the saw does what it should do 😉
