    I am here from the suggestion by Adam Savage Tested. Awesome skill. I would love to be able to do this!

      You can! All you have to do is just start, that’s the hardest part. The more you build the better you will get.

    Looks great! You can barely tell it's foam anymore. And love the back lit counter... really brings the whole thing together.

    The original prop was built around a Thompson Sub Machine gun. They fired blanks obviously. The attached "grenade launchers" was a 12 g Shotgun.

    Wow! The black is really nice! It's only bare creature cast? Since i discovered the Tamiya gunmetal rattle can, I'm im love with it even if it's not screen accurate.

      Spoiderman I'm also curious, i wanna know how it stacks up to plasti-dip as well.

    • @EvilTedSmith
      @EvilTedSmith  6 років тому +1

      I like it was better than plasti-dip and it's nontoxic.

    Is a wood burner basically just a soldering iron but with more specific tips? I'd rather not buy a whole new tool if i don't need to. Will wood burner tips fit a Weller 40 watt?

    • @izzysan4013
      @izzysan4013 6 років тому +2

      itsagundam79 kind of you can use one to burn foam but I would try it on wood may break it

    • @EvilTedSmith

      I'm not sure. I only have the wood burner.

    The common misconception about military weapons is that they must be "weathered," or, more specifically, made to look "dirty." That is not quite true. Military weapons see a LOT of action. They are banged around, knocked into things, used a clubs, and basically treated like lead pipes dropped on concrete from 100 stories up. But, they are rarely dirty. We clean our weapons at every single opportunity we get. Every operational pause finds us cleaning our weapons inside AND out. So while a military weapon will be worn, chipped, nicked, dinged, scratched, and dented, it will not be dirty for long while out in the field. I think your pattern of wear has done a better job of capturing that than most I've seen. Most prop guys just make everything look dirty and say, "viola!! weathering!" And that is not always accurate.

    • @EvilTedSmith
      @EvilTedSmith  5 років тому +1

      I completely understand. Working in movie prop house they would as us to make weapons look used. Like you said we would do light ware and tear on them. For movies like STARWARS and Fanasty we would over age the hell ot of them. They just look better on screen. Thank you for your input and for your service.

    I have seen several nice tutorials on turning NERF guns into the aliens pulse rifle...
    but what about the OTHER famous gun from Aliens? the Smart gun! I would like to see a tutorial for NERF guns - transforming one into the Smart gun, nobody has done that yet! I searched and searched and found nothing
