Monsieur, you are incredibly funny and I am so glad I found your channel! I'm a complete novice to this world and I'm thinking the MPK Mini will be a decent start considering my limited budget. This video definitely helped, so thank you!
Hahahaha, your first gig should be a comedy gig! If it weren't for Korg micro, I would have never discovered this channel, and it's a gem. Count me in!
Hey you're almost monetized! Keep it going! Really really good content. Lovely editing style. Excellent audio quality and your voice is great for this. Don't stop!
You all probably dont care but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
p.s. singing up to get the MPC Beats was a NIGHTMARE. and after getting 1 plugin (a seperate sign up) for the other plugins I was asked either money or a CC for license. I mean WTF!? all this signing up with 3-4 sites and now i gotta pay? like i said... NIGHTMARE I think maybe I will just try my best to learn this free DAW, and then return Akai if I'm still not feeling it i'm totally new and am really frustrated with how i dunno anything about making music. and the fact that I can't control Ableton with this thing. but #1 reason why I got is is cuz Akai has a Velocity On/Off switch and Launchkey Mini doesnt... but i heard there is a way around in DAW like in effects i think.
@@KingTut14 Yup, you can just set a midi velocity boost on the track in your DAW - if the boost big enough, velocity is off, as every note will be maxed out. Not sure where that setting is in Ableton, but it's there in the track / instrument settings for sure. If you're planning on working in Ableton and have an option of returning it and getting novation - might be worth the effort, but in general the best thing you can get is to look for a good ableton course on skillshare/udemy. In general, a midi controller is nice-to-have - you can do everything with keyboard + mouse, while knowing sh*t is a must-have. And tutorials on youtube are often fragmented and do not cover the basics, because everybody wants to skip those. Believe me, it will be the best investment :)
@@lobster-music I've been having a headache over the 2 midi controllers for the last 4 days but with your sincere review and comment you helped me make a decision. will be going for the Novation (already have full ableton license) and will take a look into some courses on how to (dare i say) master the usage of the controller!
TO PEOPLE WHO WOULD CONSIDER BUYING IT: The pads cannot be set to Toggle Mode (like in the MK2), which makes it impossible to assign functions like Record, Play and so on to the CC mode :/ It's very frustrating as the only way to control that is to "change program", which makes it super difficult to do while playing.
Great vid. Funny and informative. Keep it up. Mpc beats is ridiculously hard to learn. Considering FL Studio after you mentioned it. I need a beginner DAW that’s good for solo electronic/industrial/new wave type music creation. Recommendation?
All daws are actually very similar (i would not actually consider mpc beats a daw). For electronic music it's either FL studio or Ableton - mostly due to availability of hardware components and slightly easier workflow when dealing with samples compared to logic, cubase or protools. FL studio is definitely the winner when it comes to price, and there are plenty of tutorials - so learning will be way easier. Also, save money on daw and spend it on good plugins/instruments - this is what actually makes or breaks your tracks and makes all the difference...
I have not tried the alesis Soni can't speak about the Keybed quality - but the music stores are already open, it's best to check it personally, its more of a matter of preference. Looking at the specs, less knobs and better pitch / mod controls (mod stays where it should), and some people say the pads are a bit smaller and 'softer' - i like my pads big and hard, but again, matter of taste ;) another difference - alesis is a bit smaller, but Akai already fits in a backpack, i just took it with me on a 8hr flight, so it is travel - certified ;)
It feels fine it looks good but it’s horrible the wire always falls out and wasn’t working and then I waited 2 months for them to send me a new one and when I got it the same thing happened and the charging hole completely broke in 2 weeks
@@lobster-music cool, looking forward to! btw despite I'm an Ableton user, I decided to grab MPK Mini Play after all. The feature of "standaloneliness" appears to be the most useful one for me as a song-writer. Even compared to all the bells and whistles of Novation which I just don't need for light outdoor composing :/

Too bad, youtubers don't show how those endless encoders actually work WRT controlling Ableton's devices. Have found just one video where dude was showing this interaction and Ableton's macros were jumping to zero as crazy instead of being picked up from the left off position thus making these endless knobs just useless. AFAIK they are capable of sending relative values which are supposed to be treated by Ableton to move the macros properly
@@lobster-music I’ve watched videos on people using their pads and it seems like I have to hit mine unnaturally harder than they do. Probably defective product on my end. Returning and getting another one so we’ll see 🤷🏽♂️

I bought this controller yesterday, I saw close to 100 reviews, this is the best one definitely
If I cannot watch movies on that LCD screen or play games with that joy stick, I don't want it! LOL! :)
loved your way of presentation

Excellent review and funny too. This thing is great, but I prefer the Minilab 2.
Your desc is very fun, 1 subs from Indonesia
Tip: hold full level button for 5 seconds to fix the velocity of the keys 🙂
Nice, thanks :)
This review is extremely good!!!!👍
my question is, should i return AKAI Professional MPK Mini MK3 and buy Launchkey MK3 instead...

I got the MPK mini mk3 black, I dont like the red side panel one but the red one with black keys looks cool.
Akito Bass has turned his mpk into a fighting stick.

Thanks for that . I am looking for something I can use in reaper or cakewalk ... ? Do U know any good cc?
Cc?
when he said i hope we have gigs one day😂😂😂
Hi which software are you Using? I'm using magix music maker i hope it works with mine.
It should be fine, it's a generic midi device, it's widely supported. I'm using cubase.
Sustain pedal do The Job 😀
what keyboard do you think is better between the alesis v25 and the akai mpk mini

Did you try to return it and get a replacement? Sounds like faulty USB port on your MPK

The pads suck I have to hit it so hard to register
And thats what good about them - that's where the dynamics come from. Unless your MPK is broken and you have to hit REALLY hard ;)

now anyone can make music better than the radio crap
I would not buy it because of the lousy keyboard worse than the Chinese controllers
I'm pretty sure it's made in china as well ;) if keyboard is the need, go for Korg microkeys
APK MINI mk3 keyboard is actually good.
