I love how it looks like early automobile, and just the down to basics of the design. The simplicity of the overall design is great, and the bend in the middle of the frame is frightening! All the things that make projects like this awesome.

I bought one recently, but for years I've been waiting for the inventors to come out of the woodwork. By now I figured wed see a new era of diy go carts and all sorts of wacky dad inventions with these. Easily mountable universal 1000w motors? Where are all the steampunk innovators? I want to use a bed frame, an aluminum boat, and my longboard and make a land boat personally. Awesome vid, super inspiring

Great video and basic proof of concept.
I am pretty sure derivatives such as a heavier duty frame, more powerful wheel engines, a larger roof with more solar panels and even a 'hood' solar panel hiding a larger storage battery plus some platform under covering and protecting the passengers could make it even more viable for the road. Thanks!

    Really cool--nice job!
I think I would make the frame out of a reinforced bamboo. Spray high density spray foam into the core of the bamboo, and then reinforce the outer with a combination of epoxy, carbon fiber or s glass fiberglass, and carbonized crystalline nanocellulose (CCNC). It would provide really good shock absorption and be lighter. (connecting them to each other would be a pain though).
For the floor, I would do a hammock out of very strong woven 6.6 nylon lined with foam, and have a hammock back similar, hanging from ceiling.
Probably would have to do a 3 wheel design to get around more strict laws in the US--it would get classified as a motorcycle and easier to get on the road.

i see alot of comments about frame flex or bending. so here is my opinion. i understand the desire to keep weight down, so i would add 1 "A" pillar down the center from near the steering to the front of the roof. this would make the roof part of the rigidity. 1 pillar instead of 2 would still make it easy to get in and out, as well as allowing the "suspension" to move semi-independently.

Elle est super ta caisse, ça me donne envie de m'en faire une. J'ai déjà fait un vélo électrique, c'est pas compliqué. Perso j'ai opté pour une batterie au plomb, moins chère, avec un transfo dcdc made in china bien sûre !
God bless Russia and China !
    No more war.

Accidentally put your foot on the ground at full speed and you are going to have a painful week. No, seriously, install a foot panel.

Accidentally means not intentionally. If it's not intentionally nothing will happen as a very little force applied to the ground and the leg will just bounce out of the ground if you put it in the sharp angle or just "ski" with a flat one

It's stunning how primitive all the work is. Working on a park bench. Cutting with an angle grinder. Welding right next to the wheel bearings and rubber tires with an ancient stick welder. It's actually bending in the middle though. At 2:21 the frame rails are straight. By 8:42 they're bowed on both sides.

better with a servo on a chain drive anyway , I doubt those crappy bicycle hub motors will last very long .

Really cool! That machine really goes! I would swap the wheels on one side around and wire the motors in reverse so the brake discs are all inboard or outboard, just for symmetry.
