- on this video, I will show you how to make a solar electric car. I assembled electric bicycle drive wheels with a welded steel frame.
the solar panels give a power of 200w and in 2h30 fully recharge a battery. each battery gives a range of 20km
this project is followed by French television and the documentary will be broadcast early 2020
this project costs around 2000 €.
250 € for the panels and the MPPT converter.
250 € per battery. 48V 10 Ah
800 € the 4 wheel drive.
100 € the 4 dimmers

I love how it looks like early automobile, and just the down to basics of the design. The simplicity of the overall design is great, and the bend in the middle of the frame is frightening! All the things that make projects like this awesome.
Matthew Hurlbut it could use some additional steel frame to support the underchassis. That bend could hirt sometime.
It’s stupidly unsafe. Don’t know why you’d put yourself in such a dangerous situation

I would recommend a grid on the ground imagine you slide off with your feet off at full speed otherwise really great idea.
Yeah probs good idea on grid for floor. Anything dangled will get mangled!
Stop recommend anything before you can make one on your own..
@@arisz2191 I made this ( ua-cam.com/video/ANK6qHK8q5s/v-deo.html ) from scratch, including battery pack, wheel buildings and all welding. This bike is quite heavy, and I have caught my foot (heel strike) under the rear deck whilst moving, which was very painful. This vehicle is much heavier, and will not stop for a dangled limb. The limb will get munched! Nothing wrong with pointing that out if it saves and injury surely.

That frame needs way more stiffness. It was bowed almost to the floor. And he was going full speed no helmet. A failure can be deadly if a tube breaks.

if it were things like what we seeing here would be being sold (offered) on a large scale
The only barrier here is government regulations. Unfortunately he's unable to sell these, because it would be illegal for his customers to drive them anywhere except on private property. Deregulate!

Great video and basic proof of concept.
I am pretty sure derivatives such as a heavier duty frame, more powerful wheel engines, a larger roof with more solar panels and even a 'hood' solar panel hiding a larger storage battery plus some platform under covering and protecting the passengers could make it even more viable for the road. Thanks!
There are cars like that on the market.
I wish we had roads this quiet of traffic in England! This looks ideal!

Accidentally put your foot on the ground at full speed and you are going to have a painful week. No, seriously, install a foot panel.
Nah raise it up it's way to close to the ground
Shoes required to ride, no sandals.
Nah, he needs it for the brakes!😂
Accidentally means not intentionally. If it's not intentionally nothing will happen as a very little force applied to the ground and the leg will just bounce out of the ground if you put it in the sharp angle or just "ski" with a flat one
Proto type of car of future for 3rd world
I love it man. The only thing I would do is a floor board because it's easy for a person's foot to slip off that rail.
yes I will make one floor on the next step.
I think you forgot the suspension?!
Excellent! La vitesse de rotation des roues est elle coordonnée ? Ou tu pars du fait que les moteurs sont identiques et donc réagiront tous de la même manière ? Merci

Yes specially when putting 4 people in the cart
Should of gotten stronger forks for the front
good build but i would put a bit more support on the frame front to back stop it sagging
agreed but sagging is not the problem and could be used to shock advantage so long as you replace sides with 2 very light long leaf springs as they flex up n down but never twist or curl out of line

Frame flex? That's torsion bar suspension!

nice one buddy thats cool but i am amazed how you get 4000 W means 4 kva with this size of solar plate coz its hardly 3/6 size if i am not wrong advice me please
The battery can deliver 4kW, the solar panels only 200 W to charge it, which means it'll have to spend more time charging than driving.
Should be able to cruise on 400W with 200W from the panels and 200W from the battery, so the panels will help.
Great design, light, fast, quiet and self charging when the sun is out!
l'idee est bonne ,mais le materiel reste assez couteux...2000 euros pour un low cost ....
This is awesome guys!
I had this idea too for a long time. Surprised that its already realised :)
You mean powering a 4 wheeled buggy by electric motors... lol
That was built long before the first car.... this "idea" was far more popular than gas powered cars back in the day.. But oil became too cheap and batteries were terrible........... Here we are 100 years later and not much has changed.

Really cool--nice job!
I think I would make the frame out of a reinforced bamboo. Spray high density spray foam into the core of the bamboo, and then reinforce the outer with a combination of epoxy, carbon fiber or s glass fiberglass, and carbonized crystalline nanocellulose (CCNC). It would provide really good shock absorption and be lighter. (connecting them to each other would be a pain though).
For the floor, I would do a hammock out of very strong woven 6.6 nylon lined with foam, and have a hammock back similar, hanging from ceiling.
Probably would have to do a 3 wheel design to get around more strict laws in the US--it would get classified as a motorcycle and easier to get on the road.
Chassis fragile sinon le reste top .
With no floorboards you can use your feet like the flintstones.
This is a cool idea, an improved versión could be a nice an económic City conmuter, also it's 4 wheel drive
*Interesting for AFRICA*
BRAVO !! A BIT WEAK AT THE MIDDLE I THINK...MM..
"D-FENS!"
@@TheCrazyFinn Hahaha haha
very very cool! But the frame could do with some more strenthening, a few well placed gussets, some triangles in really important spots. Now that it is bent in the middle its going to be difficult to make it super strong, but not impossible no doubt. Like others have said here I would want to have more secure places to put your feet too...
Isto é muito bom e econômico eficiente se isto estiverce no alcance de muita gente era muito melhor para a vida de muitas pessoas.
It's a motorized gazibo.
crazy tack-welded front forks... on a four-wheeled vehicle?!
C'mon man, watch some Red Bull soapbox cart races and you'll see why you shouldn't do that.
Great design concept, though.
what are you saying , he didn't complete the welds ? dya think he was just goin thru assembly w/o belaboring every detail maybe ?
@@bobsaturday4273 I am saying the design of the front end is pretty scary in general, whether or not those welds were dressed or not, bicycle front forks work as a cantilever, and the stress and vibration can and does result in catastrophic failure, typically at the steerer tube, as can be seen on the red bull soapbox cart race.
The solar roof and lightweight construction is great, though. I'd just prefer some suspension with travel, proper steering geometry w/ double wishbone structure or similar. Four wheel vehicles and bicycles are not interchangeable in this fashion. Bicycle front forks are highly suspect for a steering system.
@@weareallbeingwatched4602 "design of the front end is pretty scary " , ok , how would you improve it ? you also state "bicycle front forks work as a cantilever," that is to say what exactly ? all bicycles are dangerously unsafe ? you seem fixated on some cart race ...get over it
@@bobsaturday4273 bicycles are two wheeled not four wheeled, and the use of fork offset/trail and rake angle is appropriate for a two wheeled balance vehicle with one wheel steering, cylindrical profile tires, the and the ability to *lean*, as is making sure that the system is symmetrical, and the wheel's axis of steering is central to the contact patch.
When you take this approach and copy-paste it onto both steer wheels of a four wheeled vehicle, it becomes a serious handling and stability problem, and also the forces generated in terms of oscillation and deformation will and do result in damage. The Red Bull soap box cart races have all sorts of DIY vehicles, and put the vehicles through fairly rough treatment. The "pair of bicycle forks as front wheels of a four wheeled cart" vehicles typically don't make the first turn, let alone the jumps.
Funniest part is, i can guarantee you this thing is 10-20 TIMES more energy efficient than your best EV. Even more if you consider the solar panels.
