  • on this video, I will show you how to make a solar electric car. I assembled electric bicycle drive wheels with a welded steel frame.
    the solar panels give a power of 200w and in 2h30 fully recharge a battery. each battery gives a range of 20km
    this project is followed by French television and the documentary will be broadcast early 2020
    this project costs around 2000 €.
    250 € for the panels and the MPPT converter.
    250 € per battery. 48V 10 Ah
    800 € the 4 wheel drive.
    100 € the 4 dimmers

    I love how it looks like early automobile, and just the down to basics of the design. The simplicity of the overall design is great, and the bend in the middle of the frame is frightening! All the things that make projects like this awesome.

      Matthew Hurlbut it could use some additional steel frame to support the underchassis. That bend could hirt sometime.

      @@arisz2191 I made this ( ua-cam.com/video/ANK6qHK8q5s/v-deo.html ) from scratch, including battery pack, wheel buildings and all welding. This bike is quite heavy, and I have caught my foot (heel strike) under the rear deck whilst moving, which was very painful. This vehicle is much heavier, and will not stop for a dangled limb. The limb will get munched! Nothing wrong with pointing that out if it saves and injury surely.

    I am pretty sure derivatives such as a heavier duty frame, more powerful wheel engines, a larger roof with more solar panels and even a 'hood' solar panel hiding a larger storage battery plus some platform under covering and protecting the passengers could make it even more viable for the road. Thanks!

    Really cool--nice job!
    I think I would make the frame out of a reinforced bamboo. Spray high density spray foam into the core of the bamboo, and then reinforce the outer with a combination of epoxy, carbon fiber or s glass fiberglass, and carbonized crystalline nanocellulose (CCNC). It would provide really good shock absorption and be lighter. (connecting them to each other would be a pain though).
    For the floor, I would do a hammock out of very strong woven 6.6 nylon lined with foam, and have a hammock back similar, hanging from ceiling.
    Probably would have to do a 3 wheel design to get around more strict laws in the US--it would get classified as a motorcycle and easier to get on the road.

    very very cool! But the frame could do with some more strenthening, a few well placed gussets, some triangles in really important spots. Now that it is bent in the middle its going to be difficult to make it super strong, but not impossible no doubt. Like others have said here I would want to have more secure places to put your feet too...

    crazy tack-welded front forks... on a four-wheeled vehicle?!
    C'mon man, watch some Red Bull soapbox cart races and you'll see why you shouldn't do that.
    Great design concept, though.

      what are you saying , he didn't complete the welds ? dya think he was just goin thru assembly w/o belaboring every detail maybe ?

    • @weareallbeingwatched4602
      @weareallbeingwatched4602 4 роки тому

      @@bobsaturday4273 I am saying the design of the front end is pretty scary in general, whether or not those welds were dressed or not, bicycle front forks work as a cantilever, and the stress and vibration can and does result in catastrophic failure, typically at the steerer tube, as can be seen on the red bull soapbox cart race.
      The solar roof and lightweight construction is great, though. I'd just prefer some suspension with travel, proper steering geometry w/ double wishbone structure or similar. Four wheel vehicles and bicycles are not interchangeable in this fashion. Bicycle front forks are highly suspect for a steering system.

    • @bobsaturday4273
      @bobsaturday4273 4 роки тому

      @@weareallbeingwatched4602 "design of the front end is pretty scary " , ok , how would you improve it ? you also state "bicycle front forks work as a cantilever," that is to say what exactly ? all bicycles are dangerously unsafe ? you seem fixated on some cart race ...get over it

    • @weareallbeingwatched4602
      @weareallbeingwatched4602 4 роки тому

      @@bobsaturday4273 bicycles are two wheeled not four wheeled, and the use of fork offset/trail and rake angle is appropriate for a two wheeled balance vehicle with one wheel steering, cylindrical profile tires, the and the ability to *lean*, as is making sure that the system is symmetrical, and the wheel's axis of steering is central to the contact patch.
      When you take this approach and copy-paste it onto both steer wheels of a four wheeled vehicle, it becomes a serious handling and stability problem, and also the forces generated in terms of oscillation and deformation will and do result in damage. The Red Bull soap box cart races have all sorts of DIY vehicles, and put the vehicles through fairly rough treatment. The "pair of bicycle forks as front wheels of a four wheeled cart" vehicles typically don't make the first turn, let alone the jumps.
