Yeah I have had that bug happen a few times since release and the vfr map trick fixes it. What is annoying is that since the last patch I have had the CTD without error message on about 80% of my play sessions. Prior to that patch I had never had ctd with the sim.
I found that with the issue of the mouse losing cockpit functionality I can usually get it to work again by zooming in and zooming out with a mouse wheel and then it’ll start working again. Also if anybody is having issues with the camera going crazy and getting stuck and then causing the game to crash I fix that by clearing any camera commands on my yoke that control camera such as the POV hat
Was really bad for me previous patch, better this one.. But i usually quit and restart game after every flight at this moment as performance notably drops after a few hours
I was having issues using the mouse to interact with the cockpit. I found changing the size of the radio popup window works for some reason. Hope it helps if you're having issues also.
for those who have a problem with the mouse and the impossibility to clic on the cockpit, i saw the fix on reddit ; take the atc window and drag it around, it shuld solve the problem =)
Thanks @Jeff. My work-around is to use the cockpit camera "Look down". Then the HDG, NAV, APR, ALT, etc. buttons on the Autopilot respond. It's still a pain to have to do that.

the autopilot bugs, which make the game literally unplayable (not in air quotes, but actually literally unplayable) when they crop up are prioritized lower than graphics fixes. nice.
Hey mate, if you click on the map in the quick access buttons and then I believe you put it into a window, it should fix the issue with the mouse interactions and the cockpit you have
The mouse bug in the cockpit is "fixed" by clicking on the ATC window. It seems like the bus is related to interacting with the ATC window, so clicking on it enables or disables the mouse for some reason.

I'd really like the GPS crash bug to be fixed. Currently learning VOR flying and the flight planner doesn't always find the VOR stations I picked out, even if I picked an official route from European flight charts. No biggy, I can add the GPS coords manually and the frequencies always work out in-game. But sometimes it's nice to check out whether or not I'm doing everything correctly by popping up the GPS map. I'd be nice if I don't have to do so with the fear of crashing and having to start all over again. I appreciate the transparency, though :). As for the scroll-wheel not working issue: Pop up the ATC window, fiddle with it, scroll in it and the mouse should work properly again. Annoying, but it's not gonna break your flight.
I love this sim and I'm not gonna trash Asobo here but let's be honest, after 2 months it's safe to say it's gonna take much longer to iron out all the bugs/issues including the new ones that are introduced with the patches. Longer that I thought. Plus we're waiting for more features and improvements.
You know what they say, programs aren't ever really finished - just released. As far as that goes, I've hardly experienced any bugs, and the glitches with terrain have been 3rd party data related - and also hilarious.

Since patch 1.9.3, I've been able to successfully finish less than half of my flights, between the VFR map crash bug, general crashes to desktop, and a weird bug when FaceTrackNoIR is installed but not running. Before 1.9.3, the game was relatively stable. I HOPE that the general instability crashes are somehow related to the VFR bug, but to hear they're not addressing it while they are working on so many enhancement features is concerning.
This is a known bug they called out in the release 1.9.3 patch notes, and has affected me many times the last week too. I have had better luck opening the VFR map and keeping it open during the entire flight, but that really is a bad software experience. I hope Asobo don't release known critical bugs in the future.
@@NoticalMyles I have the same problem, i also open the map before start flying and leave it open then minimize it when i don't need it. Is not a fix but at least i can use the map and the game won't crash.
Either open the map while you're still parked and only minimize it (don't close it!) or don't use the map at all. If you open the map post take-off (I think?) it will have a significant chance of crashing.
In graphics settings at the bottom, turn "Use generic models" on for both AI and MP. you can then turn the traffic back on to make the game feel more alive at the airports
Glad its not just me.. mine keeps crashing to desktop for no reason.. really annoying usually as im landing after a longish flight. Also noticed when opening VFR map it can crash to desktop...iv also had the mouse not interacting issue...and also avionics blacking out for no reason.
My co-worker encountered the button breaking virtual cockpit 2 nights ago. We were trying all sorts of things to try and fix it, but no dice. Now atleast I know why.
The game used to run fine, but since the last update, it runs terribly. The mouse pointer stops working randomly, the autopilot will not reset correctly when you turn it on, so you end up in a dive when it should just keep doing what you were doing when you pushed the AP button (if no other modes are on), and every time I've tried to play it, it will crash to desktop at some point (usually if I try to use the G1000 to activate an approach or something).
Saw this on Reddit, maybe it was even you... The guy tried everything but eventually gave up and would reinstal the sim. Never heard of him again, though...
I hate that the stick or yoke doesn't move linearly when I have set sensitivity to 100. Halfway through it snaps and becomes hyper sensitive, I'm glad its only a visual bug.
Without anything else to go on, sounds like a possible cpu or gpu overheat symptom. Get a can of compressed air, blow out your fans and heat sinks. If the problem still persists, it might be time to refresh your thermal paste depending on age of current build.
Is there a way to roll back to a previous version? The game was a lot more stable and enjoyable for me prior to the Japan update, since then they broke the AP on my favorite plane (Citation) and I get random crashes now. It looks like they rushed out that patch and didn't merge back in the previous fixes.
Cancel all airports traffic and air traffic .. Then The flight will improve with you without problems .. I did that after the second correction .. During the third correction, I did not encounter a stutter .. The traffic issues a lot of calculations that affect the performance of the simulator because it It is still new and mistakes are still going on .. You have to give up traffic movements to completely eliminate accidents
Many of the CTD's are caused by Windows and outdated drivers rather than the sim. Chasing frames by modIng Windows settings suggested in many UA-cam vids can also cause CTDs, and in some cased can even cause BSODs. Installing the Windows 2002 update, updating drivers, and using default Windows settings solves many of these problems.
1:31 nope. looks like the same old 2011 Orbx FSX garbage assets with a few custom current-gen buildings to fluff out the trailer. Will definitely not pay for it. Some of the best quality building packs out there are by Dzewiecki Design.
There is something wrong with cambridge airport (uk) 1 to 2 second long stutters on approach and all around area, but if you start from Cambridge it's ok. Just can't fly too cambridge
The Sydney cityscape from Orbx is not free... I paid $19 AUD direct from Orbx. Also, I installed it with the Orbx Central program but when you run flight simulator is still shows up as the old version with the opera house but no Sydney Harbour Bridge. Does anyone know how to install this cityscape into the new 2020 flight simulator?
Anyone having their flights not recorded in the profile section. I’ve played constantly since the game was released. Checked my flight hours last night and haven’t got anything recorded since October 3rd!!!!! 😔
@Matt Cross, I'm not sure when, but at some point it stopped recording your flight if you had DevMode on at any point. It's been working fine for me in every non-DevMode flight...
Mine works when it wants to. My last flight was over an hour and it recorded 15 minute.. It just randomly stops somewhere along the route, and calls my destination some airport vicinity... ridiculous.
The crash to desktop issue was solved for my by having the VFR map starting with the sim, can choose that in the options. And don't close it, just minimize it.
Yeah its not right to be too forgiving of the release bugs. To an extent I feel like I'm paying to beta test the game, given the early CTDs, the new VFR map CTDs, the buggy airliner autopilots and IFR ATC. I really like the SIM, but I think it needed to cook a bit longer before it got served up. They are updating aggressively though, so that's good.
Matt P - It's not good when they 'update', although 'aggressively' is hardly an appropriate word to use, as Bi-weekly is not, IMO, aggressive anywhere near enough, especially as when they do put out 'patches', they INCLUDE bugs, which they ARE AWARE of, BEFORE they put them out!! It needed MUCH more work before it was released, although MS probably had something to do with that.
It doesn't look like it. The rumor I heard was that because the standard edition is part of the XBOX subscription game service they're keeping the upgrade paths super-expensive. They dropped a few hints before launch that if you want deluxe, you're better off just buying it right off than upgrading.
@TKW 242 Yep i have exactly the same issue. it's only started happening over the last week. Its was always when i come in to land at first, but now also now its started to CTD at any point in the flight (only with airliners though) most of the time before a crash, the camera will do weird shit like look over my left shoulder ( like in a focus mode) and i cant move it back. Hope it gets sorted this next patch.
OA, you are just too forgiving. When a gaming company, i.e. Microsoft/Asobo or Frontier need a scathing review, you are very very soft on them. I have been with you a long long time, and this video just motivated me to comment about it. The GAME STOPPING bugs are so far out that it is ridiculous. And why limit the game to a schedule such as this? Why not work the major bugs, and release them as they are fixed. This sort of time line is unacceptable. As for me, I fly the airliners since they came to MSFS.... and I have owned almost all of them, from the first to this one. Right now this one is shelved. I am just following the development news. Thank you for your news. o7 commander.
Can't wait for the update because the "Japan patch" ruined the sim for me. Every 2-3 minutes the screen(s) go black in every plane and even more often in the airliners, but most important for me is the engine(s) shutting off automatically while standing still before takeoff. Haven't been able to fly at all since that last patch :(
Try setting "ground aircraft density" to 0% and see if that helps. I've had stuff just turning off without warning, even in the C172, and it seems to be due to ground traffic! I know that sounds odd, but somewhere in the bowels of the code the sim gets confused about which aircraft the instruments are linked to - yours or some simulated ground traffic.
@@GRAHAMAUS Oh thank you, it works! Just the screens though, you don't happen to have any idea what's going on with the engines as well? No matter the plane I can't put in any settings into the autopilot while on the ground because if I do the engines shut off and can't be started again, but I can put all the settings in after takeoff and that works. The annoying thing about it is that the same thing is going on with the cdu on the airliners, but that shuts them off even while in the air so I can't change anything... xD
Was really considering getting one of the new Xboxes so I could play this with decent graphics, but seeing how they're handling things I've decided not to. I have a feeling I have to wait a very long time before this game has matured into something consistently playable. Will probably go for the Playstation instead despite not being able to play this, as by the time the game is finished development I'll probably have a better PC or by some miracle it will be available on PS5.
I downloaded the First Flight Airport but was unable to get it to work using the directions on Verticalsims website. Anyone had any luck with this download? Can anyone help with this?
I'm so sorry to disappoint americans and their dreams of being superior, but the first plane flight was done by brasilian Alberto Santos Dumont on December 12nd 1903 in Paris. Google it.The Wright brothers (or more especifically Orville Wright) was only officially witnessed in 1908 also in France.
I'm going to be really honest, as much as I like to be able to play the game now, it could've probably done with having its release pushed back to 2021. There are so many issues present this feels more like a paid open beta than anything else.
The G1000/3000 fixes coming in update 9 was the most disappointing. I would have thought near full functionality would have been a day 1 priority considering the amount of planes that have these systems.
How do you think games get rid of bugs. This map is a 1:1 scale of earth so Microsoft are going to struggle to find bugs on their own. Every game releases full of bugs so players can report them then I gets fixed. Do people not know how technology works in 2020. Fuck me
@@AviationSimulation Hence why the term 'open beta' exists.... If Asobo & Microsoft really wanted the community to help trace and report bugs, they should've made their 'invite-only beta test' a public one. They would've had a larger user pool to pull hardware data & user feedback from. Previous instalments, released with far fewer bugs and basic aircraft functionality worked out of the box, right now, we don't even have a reliable auto-pilot to use. The cynical in me knows damn well that 'invite-only tests' are, for the most part, a way to have content creators onboard from an early stage in order to get free pre-release press. But that's a different matter.
Having loved the previous versions of this game for over 25 years and having paid over 60USD for this version it won't even install. After trying to install it more than 5 times on different drives and install directories, I gave up as each install took soooo long to download. I requested a refund but was denied because I had bought it more than 14 days before. (That was because it took sooo long to download/install). Now with the new update, everything is greyed out? DO NOT buy this game until they fix these issues!
I bought a 10 disc version that went ok but when it starts up it wants to look for patches then loops on the big base for 2 weeks now. Pissed off as I built the computer just for this sim and it to fail on the last bit.
the worst one is the game almost constantly crashing after a 1 hour flight (or longer) when you reach final for landing. Its almost consistently happening to me, maybe 3 out of 4 times or even more. I cant play this, honestly.. the landing is the best part for me, i just cant play for a hour only to be cucked in the end
l was stupid enough to buy the premium deluxe package. Most of the extra aircraft actually work as they should. After the initial sight seeing 'll revisit MSFS2020 in a couple of months. It is not even on par with MSFS2010 if you want to do long flights in jets. Amazing graphics but the aircraft, systems, live weather and ATC are just not good enough. MICROSOFT PLEASE READ THIS : NOT BUYING A SINGLE PAYWARE ADD ON UNTILL YOU FIX WHAT YOU SOLD FIRST.
Most people are so absolutely stupid. no. 1 issue "press any key to start"? didnt you have other problems like the technicals issues letting the game drop t0 25 fps even at a high end computer.
I updated, but under components are some airports, like KJFK or London Heathrow, which are shown with the information, update available and download. But if I check the airports for an update, there is no button or a menu, where I could start the download and installation. This simulator is such a crap, really I hate it. Paid money for nothing. Everything is complicated, every update makes it more worst than before. This is an example, how NOT to develope and sell Software.
Like how open they're being about the bugs they're working on. Don't like how they're fixing none of the game-breaking ones. That's fantastic! What a joke.
Seing OrbX release map stuff in FS2020 kinda pisses me off as FS2020 is supposed to be the sim where the stock world install gets better with every update without needing all this 3rd party overpriced crap
If a third party has done Sydney, surely Microsoft will do it soon ? I hope.. Sydney harbour is a joke ! Biggest city in the southern hemisphere without it's biggest landmark.
This program is worthless in its current condition. After taking a lifetime to load on my high-end machine, it constantly crashes, requiring another lifetime to load. I just go back to good old stable XP in VR. If XP produces better scenery and weather, I'll remove this MS dog from my hard drive.

Wait so you have to pay for the Sydney update?
does anyone else have a bug when you cant pitch up in the dreamliner. it just goes down
Weird, this should be a 737 Max issue.
Saw this on Reddit, maybe it was even you... The guy tried everything but eventually gave up and would reinstal the sim. Never heard of him again, though...
Your voice.......damn. Just whisper me to sleep every night lol
Yeah right !? Best voice on youtube in my opinion, I wonder where is he from I can't put a country on his accent.
I hate that the stick or yoke doesn't move linearly when I have set sensitivity to 100. Halfway through it snaps and becomes hyper sensitive, I'm glad its only a visual bug.
Still crashes to desktop without error for me after an hour or so of play.
However I still love the game. Just waiting for it to be more stable.
No.
Yeeah, also disable the whole sim and use FS2002! All problems solved. Microsoft is my favorite crap producing company.
Never finished a flight from Germany to England... crashes within 15- 40 Minutes
My grandad had the same problem. He was flying a Heinkel 111 though....
@@colderwar HaHa, I was waiting for someone to say something like that, and when I looked at your reply, it made me laugh!
@@colderwar LMAO oh my
1:31 nope. looks like the same old 2011 Orbx FSX garbage assets with a few custom current-gen buildings to fluff out the trailer.
And how much all these improvements will take diskspace?
Can they do Auckland sky tower please
I am patiently waiting to use my Quest 2 for Flight Simulator.
This is not really a 'solution' as it is a bandaid.
@@kevinklassen4328 D'oh...
@@tmkongen Don't you agree? I want microsoft to fix their game so I don't have to worry about when I open a VFR map and whether it will crash my game.
@@kevinklassen4328 I agree but my comment was not meant as a permanent solution, just a fix until they fix it.
@@tmkongen Agreed! I was only making that comment as I saw that as a "fix" on Microsoft's website too.
So are they going to allow upgrades from basic to deluxe without having to pay twice for the game?
It doesn't look like it. The rumor I heard was that because the standard edition is part of the XBOX subscription game service they're keeping the upgrade paths super-expensive. They dropped a few hints before launch that if you want deluxe, you're better off just buying it right off than upgrading.
@@Dream0Asylum Seriously disappointing....Yet I guess it is in part a Microsoft product so that is to be expected.
In default 2020 Sydney harbour Bridge is just a normal flat bridge haha yet Opera house is fine.
Every time I fly near NYC, it crashes to desktop.
@TKW 242 i have the Same Problem 😂
@@Shadow__133 this sim is great, maybe your pc is a fucking potato lmaooo
Maybe just maybe with the new patch I'll be able to have a actual nice smooth flight with no desktop crashes
Dream on!! They INTRODUCE more bugs with each 'patch'!!!
Logbook fix?
The annoying thing about it is that the same thing is going on with the cdu on the airliners, but that shuts them off even while in the air so I can't change anything... xD
Interesting that YT keeps giving me popup notifications for you despite not being subbed..
People should be thankful that it's Microsoft Flight Simulator and not Take2 Flight Simulator.
We need finally Sensivity Fix and Real Weather Please!
Can we just take a minute to appreciate our FS community. I mean how many other communities create free patches and addons?
Cities: Skylines has some nice add-ons and mods from the community as well
Was really considering getting one of the new Xboxes so I could play this with decent graphics, but seeing how they're handling things I've decided not to. I have a feeling I have to wait a very long time before this game has matured into something consistently playable. Will probably go for the Playstation instead despite not being able to play this, as by the time the game is finished development I'll probably have a better PC or by some miracle it will be available on PS5.
Why are you using Real Life footage instead of Flight Sim?
Let me know when this game is ready for release - I can’t wait 😊
its already released
Nah, just find a new game. They'll be adding to, and tweaking this beast for the next decade.
I downloaded the First Flight Airport but was unable to get it to work using the directions on Verticalsims website. Anyone had any luck with this download? Can anyone help with this?
Same. Following.....
Shame it still wont install onto my PC.
I'm Irish and would love a orbx Dublin dlc
I'm so sorry to disappoint americans and their dreams of being superior, but the first plane flight was done by brasilian Alberto Santos Dumont on December 12nd 1903
in Paris.
Exactly!
The G1000/3000 fixes coming in update 9 was the most disappointing. I would have thought near full functionality would have been a day 1 priority considering the amount of planes that have these systems.
@@Nano606606 yeah I can't believe Garmin let Asobo put their name on it
How do you think games get rid of bugs.
They havent even started to fix the bush trip landings wtf?
They should fix the logbook not logging
I had that, found the problem for me was having developer mode enabled. Turn that off and restart FS.
wow your level of accountability of these issues is noteworthy
the worst one is the game almost constantly crashing after a 1 hour flight (or longer) when you reach final for landing.
Oh my god... Gonna have to go without autopilot for THAT long? Wtf.
This is an example, how NOT to develope and sell Software.
i don't know why, but imo the thumbnail looks like from out of a citybuilder(i'm aware that it's i game footage from mfs)
@votejj thanks for pointing that out. Jakarta sure is big !
I had an inflated importance on our largest city..
Star Citizen doesn't look so bad now heh.
At least this actually got released.
For me at the moment this game is unplayable! FS 2020 king of BUGS. fortunately I didn't buy it. Tried with game pass.
Glad I'm only paying $1 a month for this buggy mess.
LOL LOL LOL a paid update for a brand new game that is buggy as hell. Is ANYONE that stupid???
This program is worthless in its current condition. After taking a lifetime to load on my high-end machine, it constantly crashes, requiring another lifetime to load. I just go back to good old stable XP in VR. If XP produces better scenery and weather, I'll remove this MS dog from my hard drive.
Thanks for posting Mr. Ant. Informative as always :)
