The most slept on car of a generation. 3sGTE Anti lag water to air intercooler and even spray bars. Supra inspired cockpit Supra brakes. Just a bad ass machine.

They did the celica and corolla in the Castrol colours. A lad had a corolla in the Castrol colours then stripped them off and then the car looked too white with the bodywork and wheels. It wasn't long after that no one bought white cars anymore. Silver was the new white

Had a GT4 before. They're lovely cars and reliable if treated right. Great through bends, grip and power. Basic and old school.

I’m rebuilding one of these on my channel I can’t wait to get it running. The car in this video looks great, but 500bhp seems a bit high for this
My gut feeling was Ricky wasn't overly impressed with 'her' 🤔
When I was looking at MR2 Turbos I did look at these as a option to but the 4WD and extra weight made it a bit dull compared to the MR2.. The MR2 was alot more dramatic and was quicker but wouldn't go round bends as quick as a GT4

Driving a GT4 on regular roads will be a bit boring because it's so stable.
Low traction, or unsettling ground is where it really shines. You just point and push the gas basically.
Think of it like a dirt bike on the road.

Always loved the look of the 5th and 6th gen Celicas. I used to see a lot of them around in the 90's and early 2000's. Mostly in the 160hp trim, which meant FWD which put me off so I never got one. GT-4's were rarely seen.
the GT4's are very nice cars to own/drive I'd a 94 JDM version "modified 350bhp" & it went like stink.. the comments regarding the stock ECU, no Toyota didn't lock they, they actually had a limited self learning ability so fitting bolt on modifications the car could slightly change its tune to suit etc
The Apexi power FC the piggy back ECU that was mentioned is what its titled a piggy back ecu, its best feature was the hand held unit which allowed tuning to be adjusted on the move, however its best left to ppl who know what there doing. I'd a Apexi AVC-R boost controller ontop of my C-one aftermarket ECU.
regarding the brakes if memory serves me the uk supra shared the same brakes as the GT4 (4 pot front calipers & twin pot rears) the JDM had the 6pot fronts (again if memory serves me) anyone who is thinking about buying a st205 GT4, don't think... just find a good one & buy it, you'll NEVER look back again.

This definitely isn't making 500 brake though i had a an st05 making 415bhp and it was quicker than this, i'd say this might be touching 300 brake no more
Sounds like it makes about 150hp at 4000 rpm then possibly spikes upto 500hp at 6000rpm! So when running through the long gears a well setup 350hp car would out run this. I could imagine at high speed its fairly fast when its actually in the power band for longer than a few secs

Thanks for featuring a Celica Gen 6! I would say this car doesn't need so much boost to be enjoyed (and broken engines as a result), around 280-300hp is plenty. Exterior is nice and clean though I'm no fan of the white painted interior panels.

Leonsurrey It really pisses me off when people say they can beat Lamborghini’s and Ferrari’s in these videos there is no way that car can hit 200 mph like supercars can.
dan thompson agree 100%. I'm sure it's a fun quick car but it's only a ”quick car”. I would put money on a mapped 335D being a quicker car.
Standard with 239bhp, 0-60 was 5.9. I went out in a 400bhp+ one and from the passenger seat it felt MUCH quicker than a M3 Comp Pack I've also been in. It was an absolute weapon. A 335D would not see which way this went.
Adam w I have owned cars with over 400BHP and this would not have stood a chance against them. Old technology cannot process the power as efficiently, a mapped 335D would consume this car comfortably in the bends, let alone with nearly 750nm in the straights. I don’t doubt it felt fast but an ass dyno is really inaccurate when comparing cars.

Id say its more down to the spiky power and the long gearing that its slow! I could see it peaking at 500hp but not much use when its possibly making 200hp 2000rpm below its peak power

Seems short on revs, 6500rpm is pretty low for one of these. Most forged builds rev to circa 7500-8000rpm, some serious builds are well over 9000rpm.
Probably why a few people are saying it doesn’t look like 500bhp as the power band is so short so it’s hard to appreciate what power it has, it would certainly make more if they increased the rev limit. Plus I think he’s short shifting a fair bit.
Had my st185rc built from mk autos highly recommended seen this motor having work done a lovely example of a st205.. well done mate lovely gt4..

Cool car. To most people it would be a scary ride but Ricky didn’t look that blown away by it. I guess that’s the down side to driving some seriously fast stuff that a quite linear 500 bhp isn’t really going to knock your socks off.

All you people commenting about the 500hp he said it's MAPPED for 1.8 bar which would be near 500 or more. But he's at 1 bar which is A LOT LESS so at 1BAR doing pulls he's probably closer to 350whp which is still in the 400s at the crank
