  • Research indicates that almost one million tonnes of #charcoal are consumed annually in the European Union. Yet only a quarter of it is produced in the #EU.
The remaining three-quarters, just under 750,000 tonnes, are imported from countries such as Ukraine, Nigeria, Russia, Indonesia, or Paraguay, where corruption, illegal logging, and forest destruction are widespread. A significant part of the #charcoal consumed in Europe poses numerous environmental and social challenges: deforestation-related supplies, ecosystem degradation, soil erosion, carbon emissions related to the manufacturing process, and precarious working conditions.
In this webinar, Earthworm's Charcoal team shares the latest news on recent developments (legislative, policy, etc.) in the sector and their impact on the sustainability of the charcoal market in Europe.
    Focus:
    - The latest developments on the EU #Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR) and Earthworm's solutions to support companies in enforcing the regulation.
    - Results of our latest analysis of the charcoal bags offered for sale to German, French, Polish, and Scandinavian consumers.
    - An analysis of market data at global and national levels (Spain, Namibia, Nigeria, Poland, Ukraine).
    - An overview of our initiatives to promote accountability in the charcoal sector.
Charcoal production’s environmental and social challenges require urgent action. Gain valuable insights and learn how your business can drive sustainable practices.
