Using numerous images and literary references (also to modern authors such as Kipling, Beirce and Rilke), Professor Nigel Harris will work towards constructing a cultural history of the medieval panther which takes account of both traditional and contem­porary scholarly approaches - and which, as such, exemplifies a methodology that is potentially applicable also to the study of other species.
