Are you sure that power supply violates the USB standard and always emits 20V? The USB PD standard requires that only 5V may be emitted until the connected device has properly negotiated for a higher voltage. So a 60W or 100W USB PD power adapter is perfectly safe to other devices. This is similar to QualComm QuickCharge that also starts at 5V and requires a phone to ask for 9V, 12V or maybe higher.
1:18 Unfortunately it won't work with any 5V power supply. I believe MHP30 uses USB power-delivery to negotiate 20v with PD compliant power supplies. You should be able to use any 65W PD charger.
Yeah, I was confused by his comment that the device didn't take too kindly to 20v, when it must have asked for 20v, or he misunderstood another error as this
On another note, do you have an adjustable bench power supply that you like for around $50-75? I tried looking around and it seems like getting a buck boost converter and a dc power supply.

yeah i kind of assumed it wouldnt work with 5v, but wasnt 100% sure.
That power supply is USB-PD, it only puts out 20v after the device negotiates with it, its safe with any USB device

Slick! I'll have to pick one of these up, I do just enough electronics work to warrant something at this price point vs the more professional stuff.
Yeah if you do this kind of stuff with electronics it's definitely worth it.
