I used to be a courier in Nashville and I saw Stonewall Jackson in the Davidson County Courthouse and this song came to mind. I started to go up to him and make some sort of comment but he didn't have a happy look on his face so I decided I better not.
Hey boys.... I love this version whit waylon and the boys... If you want a cool version of this that you never heard before.. Search for the group small town pimps... I whased my hands in muddy waters... Its a swedisch group that sing rockn. Roll whit own touch🙏🕺
One of the best versions of this old Joe Babcock song. Strangely turned down by Marty Robbins in a rare error of judgement by Mr Teardrop, but he often sang it in concert though I don't believe he ever actually recorded the song.
@@doribateman222 Marty initially turned the song down and lost the chance of another country number 1 and pop hit, the song being a hit for Johnny Rivers and Stonewall Jackson. It was several years before Marty did an actual studio cut on the song. He probably wasn’t too perturbed about missing out as he published Joe Babcock’s songs anyway. Another error by Marty in my opinion was that he never recorded his steel guitarists (Bill Johnson) great country ballad ‘A Wound Time Can’t Erase.’ Several top country stars recorded it anyway, including Cash, Stonewall (Again), Charley Pride, George Jones, Hank Snow, Jack Greene and Conway Twitty. Once again though, Marty had the publishing rights!
Stonewall Jackson owns this song!
"Washing hands in muddy water" is such a wonderful metaphor. Wonderful song. this is country.
Clicked by accident. Fate led me to this gem.
