Duane Eddy is sadly underrated. More people need to listen to him and should be just as revered as the other rock and roll legends. It’s sad that it’s really only him and Jerry Lee Lewis left
I just saw an interview with Ritchie Blackmore who recently received a guitar from his first idol, Duane Eddy. Pretty much tells you right there how his music inspired some of rocks biggest guitar legends.
I agree with you. I’ve always been a fan of Duane. Love his rendition of Peter Gun and Rebel Rouser. He didn’t the credit he should have. Great musician.
Beautiful, wonderful Rock and Roll music. I loved it then and I still love it today. Can't spend a day without listening to those old Rock and Roll masterpieces.♥🎼🎸🎷
My late father gave me the joy of this music. It was the music of his youth not mine as I am “only ” 46. The music of the 50s and 60s was absolutely the best ever. My dad would have loved this as I do. The other thing I love about old time music artists like Duane Eddy is how humble and gracious they are despite how good they are and how much in reverence they are held by everyone. They just let their talent and legacy speak for itself.
My first 45 rpm record was Duane eddy's cannonball that I bought in 1958 when I was 11 years old I am now 73 years old and am still a fan I think Duane Eddy is the best guitar player ever. Happy birthday Duane .
All of a sudden I was 10 yrs old again. My friend let me borrow his 45 of R R. I took it home and played it on the new Columbia console Stereo with AM-FM radio. My folks were fine with the guitar, but when that sax began, I was told to turn that excrement down. It ranks right up there for me along with Ray Price's "Personality". Thanks. Narragansett Bay

Wow, still perfect, an unforgetable guitarist, and always will be. Thanks to Mr. Eddy for the iconic music! He was totally unique and such an inspiration to us. Still rockin', perfectly, and totally cool right up to this song performed as an older gentleman. (The other seasoned musicians on this song were phenominal too). RIP to a consumate guitarist. He was a true great! He had an enormous effect on both country & rock! Look at who he performed with over the years. His album with the Ventures (surf rock) is fantastic! The man played a guitar like no one else had thought of doing! The “twang sound” has become a classic sound!

I heard this song growing up as kid and most my life..my uncle Mac Davidson use to play it all the time... and his so Clay Davidson went on to be country singer and was on grand Ole Opry and Mr Eddy wrote a letter congratulating Clay on his album and Opry debut. This man is amazing guitar picker my opinion he's up there with Chet ..
He was on American Bandstand, look it up on youtube. Duane Eddy "Rebel Rouser" Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show. July 19, 1958......And, Duane Eddy - Peter Gunn, 40 Miles of Bad Road, Rebel Rouser (1984)

Back in the late 50s my brother had his album one million dollars of twang. Great memories of my Dad and brother and I listening to his amazing guitar work!
29 years old from Europe, earlier today I randomly started to play a riff on guitar which I had memorized somewhere a few years ago and guess what it's Duane Eddy -riff which brought me to search this video. Great music I have no sort of deep historical connection to, but I'm 100% feeling it. + that guitar is beautiful, wish I'd get one someday.
That song sure transcends styles. I grew up thinking it was some of the finest surf music (about the only surf music I liked, in fact). Little did I know.... Covered by many, great song.
I was stationed a RAF Alconbury in 1974 Duane Eddy gave a a show at the NCO club. He was scheduled to play from eight to eleven. He finally shut down the show around four-in the morning. We got a lot of big names who wanted a free trip to England. I heard Rebel Rouser live played by Duane probably about forty times that night. A good song has a catchy tune PERIOD!
I was ten and the only Duane in town. I thought Duane Eddy was the greatest with Rebel Rouser in 1958 and I wasn't the only Duane around. About ten years ago, I got hold of a clean Duane Eddy LP and recorded it digitally. It's on my "Just Drive" playlist in my car.
I made a tape with Duane Eddy's "40 miles of Bad Road", I took it along with me when we went to visit my brother who lived out in the Oregon High Desert. When we got to the road to his place, the song started to play, my Mom commented on how appropriate it was for the drive, the road was not 40 miles long but it was long enough and as rough as a corn cob. Rebel Rouser is on my top 25 list of favorite songs. Just thought that I would share a good memory, a Mother and Daughter driving thru the desert listening to good music. Looking for that song to put in my collection of UA-cam music videos.
Great ! The deeper "Twang" on the record came from a 300 gallon steel water tank used as a reverb at Audio Recorders studio in Phoenix Az. Duane is a real nice guy, made me a "mix-tape" cassette when we met at that studio in the 80's.
My husband met Duane in Perth W.A.in the late 70s a real gentleman .he signed all his records we still have some of them .Love the Twang. Still sounds good.
In 1962 / 1963 I was 15 or 16 and on one Friday after school (8th grade) I went to a local movie theatre where the was a rock and roll concert of 5 or 6 performers; Duane Eddy being one of them. I saw some people outside one of the theatre's exit doors. Shortly after I got there Duane Eddy pulled up alongside the curb in a stationwagon. He unloaded his equipment into the theatre. When he came out I asked him for his autograph and he said that I could ride with him to park his car, give me his autograph, and walk to the theatre with him. It's a great memory to carry around with me through all these years; I'll soon be 75. I wish I could tell him this story. -- Laurence H. of Del Rio, Texas
