- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- This was recorded at the beginning of the 2nd set of Billy Strings’ December 9, 2021 show at The Eastern in Atlanta, GA. Five days before this performance, country/honky-tonk musician Stonewall Jackson had passed away in Nashville at the age of 89. Jackson covered this Cowboy Joe Babcock song on his own 1963 record “Old Showboat” (recorded @The Grand Ole Opry). Stonewall Jackson grew up on his mother’s farm in Moultrie, deep in the south of Georgia.
Billy’s touring quartet is joined by John Mailander on fiddle.
I'm a 73 year old lifelong traditional bluegrass guy. This guy and his band in my opinion are great.Keep it, guys breathing life to these great song from the past.
Thank You Billy Strings for keeping bluegrass truegrass....
Just introduced to Billy Strings and now really digging his music/band. These guys are the Led Zeppelin of Blue Grass.

I wanna see this boy in concert. Nothing short of a breath of fresh air to bluegrass. 💯
It's like nothing you've experienced, I can assure you that. I've seen him a little over 20 times now and it never ceases to blow my mind

Nothing short of a breath of fresh air to music in general, really!

The song was written & recorded by Country Joe Babcock way back in the day! Stonewall Jackson had the first major hit with the song & then it was recorded by Buck Owens, Johnny Rivers, & yes even Elvis..

To who ever was going whooo...hooo.hooo...whooo..hooo...ya..hooo...you ruined the song.
You ain't no Stonewall. Sorry.
You ain't no Shania Twain... sorry !!
To Possum Williams; I DON'T pretend to be Shania Twain; was NEVER a fan!!!
Hes better than stonewall ever thought about being sorry
To Gary Battle, I totally disagree. Strings IS a great musician but NO feeling in his voice.
Go listen to some of String's other youtubes. Guy can sing. This version is a romp and not a dirge. Stonewall one of a kind for sure.
