I was thinking about it. But I decided to leave them to see what happens next. I want to continue to monitor the wear over time and share it on the channel so I don't want to alter them in anyway. Have a great week.
I bought the SC Elite V3 as my first New Balance shoe and enjoyed it so much I thought I’d pair it with the Sc Trainer V2. I think it’s a great shoe but have run into the same problem as you with some bunching of the tongue causing some occasional pain on the top of my foot. I hope I can sort that out because I’m enjoying it otherwise. Good work on the channel Tim I’m enjoying the daily content 👍
I mean I got them for $48 dollars on ebay by bidding so it's a WIN WIN for me 🤣.I agree it's not that durable for surfaces other than road, but come on, it's meant to be a road shoe. Although what I am scared of is my XC training is gonna beat those beautiful babies down🥲
I think Kofuzi ran in these at the Chicago Marathon last weekend. They are a good shoe I just have had some trouble with the outsole rubber. Have a great day and thanks for sharing.
Hi. I got these on a deal in sz 10.5. I didn’t have the V1. I usually wear 10.5 in NB (Propel, 1080, MoreV4 etc.) except for the Rebel V3 (sz 11). I have about a half thumbnail of space in front of my big toe and the width feels snug but not too tight. I’m used to just a bit more space in front so that’s why I’m hesitant on keeping or exchanging. What is your advice on the length? Is a half thumbnail standard for you and/or other runners if the width is good? Thanks for your time.
I typically like to have about a thumbs width between my longest toe which is my big toe as well. A half of a thumbnail is a little less room than I typically like. In these, if the width feels good, I think you'd be okay. Have a great day. Stay safe.
I am kinda glad I went with my Asics Superblast. I just hit 300km on them and they still are pretty good. No big issues so far, and still majority of rubber looks 70% or more
I have heard great things about the Superblast! I really want to give them a try. I'm glad you are enjoying them and they are working out so well for you.
@@RunTall honestly have not enjoyed a pair of shoes this much. The fac that they do not have a plate yet give this good of a feeling is very impressive. I need to do a video on them before I do any more big runs to compare wear and tear at 300 to 400km as I will most likely hit 400 by midweek next week.
I haven’t yet but I will do one in the future. I got injured and had to complete this training block mostly mountain bike. Have a great day and thanks for all of your support. Stay safe.
Hey Matt. I not at all hard on outsoles. I can typically get a ton of miles out of my running shoes without issues. I'm curious how they continue to wear down as I continue to log more miles. Love your videos! Keep them coming.
I totally agree with you. I'm going to get as many miles in them as I can. It will be interesting to see how the outsole continues to wear down over the miles. Have a great week.
Hey Tim from Portugal 🇵🇹 Just buy this amazing shoes with 20% of discount. Let's hope i dont get that robber outsole problem. Thx a lot for all of your videos, appreciate them a lot. Have a nice Day.
Great review. RUN-ARE was already seeing some outsole wear at 35 miles so I was wondering if you would have the same issue. These look great and comfortable but 300 miles or less is a no-go for me. I just ordered the Nimbus 25, hoping for 500+. I hope you will update us as to when you actually have to retire them.
I have a had a good experience with rebel v3 that were not expensive for me but my other new balance shoes just were too expensive for the mileage they delivered before wearing out .
Hey great question. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to run in V1 so I can't make a comparison between the two. I might have to pick them up though. I've seen V1 on sale lately. Have a great week.
I haven't had any bruises yet but I do often have red spots on my feet that quickly goes away after taking them off, when I cinch them down. Have a great week Scott.
I am disappointed in the outsole. I was surprised when I examined them so closely for the review to see the amount of wear they already had. They ride is great and I love the shoe for the long easy run.
I’m just over 800 miles on my Bondi 7’s. They’re starting to look like balogna skins… but they’ll be 2years old in November so I figure I might just run em till then… then retire them… they’ll make good work shoes after… that is after I wash em! 😝
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this shoe. I guess you will like its original version, too. It'd be more durable. (Well, in my case, I thought Nike Invincible 2 also had its durability issue with the midsole.) Have a cool and safe day, Tim!
The Invincible is a great shoe for sure and a fun one to take out. I hope things are going well for you! I can't believe how hot it's been where you are. I hope you get some relief soon!
These numbers sound ridiculous. 300 miles is only 480km. I strongly believe that normal lifespan for most modern shoes on the market is 700-800km, with occasional exceptions which might be slightly less or slightly above than than mark, depending on few factors and a model. Over the years I have not yet had a shoe I'd retire at less than 700km. Of course, performance-wise it's not going to be the same shoe, but most of them would still be runnable. Retiring shoes at a mere 400-500 km sounds wasteful.
The quest to produce lighter shoes with more tech for increased propulsive effects is reducing the durability of shoes. The upper, the heel counter is getting more floppy, the outsole is getting sparse and thinner to make room for carbon plates and additional stack height. If you have great gait, you can get longer milage of the high-performance shoes, but I do see substantial differences in performance and stability of the shoe at 300 miles vs brand new one even if visually the shoe looks OK. Personally, I'd rather spend some money on new pair of shoes than deal with potential injuries. You don't have to throw away your shoe at 300 miles. If they are still good, delegate to other tasks or donate them.
@@TolunayOrkun It's not as much about quality of shoes themselves as it is about personal attitude. People, especially in US (from what I was able to gather over the past years of attending r/RunningShoeGeeks), tend to retire shoes at extremely low marks. What today is often regarded as "dead" used to be regarded as still good several years ago, because, in majority of cases, they indeed are still good. Therefore 300 miles, or 480km, in the era of abundant cushioning, is just a made-up limitation which in most cases reflects nothing. Of course, after 400km shoe will definitely feel different, but nowhere as bricky as you'd experience it 7-10 years ago where brand new shoe would sometimes feel dead by today's standards. Age of consumerism.

Tim, do you glue the outsole rubber when it begins to separate like you show in this shoe? 9:41 I think I might, I dunno, I’m no expert. Thx. 👟

I met same pain too and I tied my sct2 through the second shoelace hole and free the first, the pain is gone.

Interesting on the outsole. I don’t remember you being super hard on outsoles in the past.

Good honest review Tim, it’s a real disappointment wit the sole separation/wearing down quickly issues given the price tag

I would definitely contact New Balance if nothing else just to get their reaction to the wear after so little use.
That's a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion! Have a great week.
i thought they ran a smidge short and pretty narrow in the toe box. normally wear a 10, had to go to a 10.5 wide

i just use shoe goo or my glue gun to rebuild the heel once in a while. heel wear on a lot of the newer shoes is ridiculous!!
Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year!
That sort of wear at 100 miles isn’t good… Thank you!
