The trap with putting lava over the portal was something they do in a later match to prevent Dream from leaving the Nether, and it took him ages to get back through (plus he angered the zombie pigmen)

About how fill squares FAST
Just hold the left button down as you place item in Chest, Crafting Tables, etc. All squares you move to fill equally.
If you're going to speedrun make sure to do it on version 1.16.1 not 1.16.5. The piglin trading changed significantly and is way worse now.

Speed runner vs 3 Hunters Finale Rematch is the first nether update where compass work in nether :)

I suggest you try FSG (Filtered Seed Glitchless).. it's just like RSG (Random Seed Glitchless), but you use a program from the mod team which gives you good seeds for speedrunning every time! It's good for practice!
