    What's pathetic is the flow of traffic on the tri-state and dan ryan is typically above the
    aggravated speeding" threshold most days

    • @driverdefenseteam
      @driverdefenseteam  3 роки тому +3

      I agree. It’s not uncommon for the flow of traffic to be 80+ mph in a 55 mph zone. The problem is...judges and prosecutors don’t want to hear that!

    I have been pulled over 3 times in 8 months. 1st was a verbal warning, 2nd was a $60 ticket and was treated like a parking ticket, 3rd one was today 50 in a 35 $164, and went on my record.
    Yes all my fault BUT, the last 2 cops have said that my plates have been ran ALOT. To the point where even the cop today pretty much said yeah your plate is getting run too much so I gotta teach you a lesson not to speed. Now note, I have a 2021 charger scat pack widebody, that is driven in CHICAGO, where these cars are one of the most stolen cars. (I said that to him and he responds with "were not in Chicago". I got pulled over in franklin park, literally 10 mins from Chicago, meaning this car still get stolen) Obviously, cops will be running my plates right, but they would have pulled me over if I was doing something wrong I'm guessing right? Do I have to sell my car and get a less "speed looking" one so I dont get targeted??

    • @driverdefenseteam
      @driverdefenseteam  2 роки тому

      No you don’t have to sell your car. But you should know that you’ve got eyes on you because you’re in a car that is often stolen. So whether it is right or wrong and whether you like it or not….cops are going to run you. There’s nothing illegal about that.

    Hey I was going 97 on a 70 I was giving a misdemeanor speeding offense but I was not arrested. What should I expect? Jail time or fines up to?

    • @driverdefenseteam
      @driverdefenseteam  4 роки тому +2

      It’s really going to depend on the courthouse and your driving record. If the ticket was issued in the Chicagoland area, I can pretty confidently say you don’t have to worry about jail.
      However, other counties may be different. Also, your driving record really matters. A first-timer is going to catch more breaks than someone who has 6 prior aggravated speeders on their record (We’ve had clients with that).
      Since it is a misdemeanor, you may want a lawyer. It’s close enough to 100 mph that a prosecutor or judge could give you a real hard time. The few hundred bucks a lawyer will charge you is usually worth it. Good luck!

    Hello sir! I was pulled over for going 88 in a 45. I was pulled over at around 11pm, clear road conditions. I was driving on Lake Cook Rd. It was in Riverwoods. The officer was very nice and respectful. The court is located in Mundelein. He said I can attend through Zoom. I have never been pulled over nor have I been issued a ticket. I am very scared that I will be locked up. What will happen to me?

      I am not your lawyer and I am not giving you legal advice. But, we’ve handled hundreds of tickets like this in that courtroom. Practically speaking, the chances of you going to jail are almost zero. Besides, you’ll be on zoom!!
      But for real, it’s a misdemeanor so it can affect your criminal record and driving record. Might want a lawyer. Call us and at least get a quote.

    It's useless to hire a traffic attorney in Illinois. As a regular citizen with no law license, I could get the same thing done as a lawyer, so why did the traffic attorneys wasted 5 years in law school? And the useless bar exam? To do the same thing for people which any citizen could do themselves without any law license. True fact.

    I got pulled over going 99 in a 60 in on I88 near Naperville. It's my first aggravated ticket I got a speeding ticket in Iowa for going 55 in a 35 in January. So I do have a history of speeding but never aggravated speeding. What's the chances I might be arrested? And should I start trying to find a lawyer? And what's the chances I may be able to get court supervision or get it reduced? I'm super worried about this because even if I don't go to jail my future relies on my driving record. I am currently going to school to be a diesel tech so this would seriously effect job opportunities for the next 3-5 yrs

    • @driverdefenseteam
      @driverdefenseteam  2 роки тому

      Jacob, I'm sorry to hear you got a speeding ticket. The chances of going to jail are VERY unlikely. While it is possible, it is not the common practice for a ticket 39 mph over the limit and only one prior.
      Should you find a lawyer? Yes. Absolutely. Call our office if you want and ask to talk to me. But even if it's not us, find a lawyer you trust.
      I cannot comment on the possible outcome. Instead your focus should be on hiring a lawyer. Good luck.

    • @driverdefenseteam
      @driverdefenseteam  2 роки тому +1

      You have 3 options: You can pay and receive a conviction. That's a bad idea. You can plead guilty and request court supervision. That can be an OK idea if you don't want to go to court and just want to get it done with. Your third option is to fight the ticket in court. You can do that yourself or your can hire a lawyer to do it. So I can't decide what you should do but the best way to decide is to talk to a local lawyer in Sterling and see what they say.

      @@driverdefenseteam Will County, Joliet.
      Ok here's what happened exactly.. it is baffling. The vehicle I was driving is under my brother's name, after I was pulled over I was given 2 tickets (1 for me and for my brother who was 700 miles away in his semi-tractor), in addition to that; a vehicle impoundment to be released after 2,500 is paid. After I was given the ticket I drove away (no detention). Later after I reviewed the tickets I realized that the time stamp on my ticket was wrong, when the video was obtained it showed that it was not me driving, so the ticket was dismissed. The prosecutor however, went after my brother. Our attorney requested the body cam video, in that video was ME (the officer mentioned my name when addressing me). Not my brother, however still no dismissal and another court date was set for bench trial. The ticket with my brother name on it had multiple errors (wrong expiration date, wrong driver's license class, etc). Every attorney, law enforcement, etc, that I spoken to about this situation were literally scratching their heads and couldn't make heads or tails of it.
      Thanks again.

      If you do "court diversion" by pleading guilty, paying the money, and doing the online traffic course in Illinois, you will get court supervision. Court supervision means that the public cannot see the ticket on your record. So it won't affect your insurance rates or cause points on your license. But the fact that you got a ticket and received court supervision still exists. Law enforcement can see that but the public cannot. It's confusing but i hope that helps.

      Go to the courthouse and ask to see the ticket. If it says "Dismissed" on the ticket, the clerk can probably fix it. If it doesn't, well you'll probably have to file a Motion to Vacate and go in front of the judge to make your argument. OR, hire a lawyer.
