Here's another tip, when they ask for something (license and registration for example), tell the officer where the item is located and may you reach for it. A lot of people think it is stupid but it goes a long way.
I’ve done that and the officer was really nice. I deserved that ticket too.
In my city a man reached for papers in the glove compartment, officer panicked, shot him. There was no weapon. Survived, paralyzed.
I’ve done this, the trooper asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle after
I will add one small detail. Back when I was a cop, the more I could see someone was doing their best to not be confrontational, especially if they did small things to put me at ease, like turning their dome light on if the stop was at night, which some people do, it would go a long way to making me not wanting to do wrong by them. Now if they were going really over the speed limit, I was probably still gonna write them, but I might shave a few mph off so that maybe they just got a simple ticket, and not reckless driving, which in itself is an improved outcome, even if it doesn't feel like it.
I was clocked doing 18 over on an interstate once, had a nice smooth interaction and the cop put me at 15 over. In that state, there's no speed that makes something automatically reckless endangerment so that wasn't a direct concern (although he could have made up a reason for my driving being reckless if he wanted), but it did save me $50 on the ticket. More than the money, I got in and out of that stop in under 5 minutes, which was much appreciated on a 12 hour day of driving.
Yea this is something I've always done especially when on rural roads with no street lights, turn on the dome lights, roll down the front and back windows, then keep my hands on top of wheel until officer is at my window. Then I'll inform the officer I am carrying a concealed handgun holstered at my 3 o'clock, my wallet is in my back right pocket and insurance is on my phone in my left pocket, may I reach for them? I've had 4 officers go from probably gonna be a ticket to just a written warning because I made them feel more comfortable knowing that I was armed but meant no ill intent towards them.
One I had taken an exit right next to a car dealership, still rural area but the dealership had bright parking lot lights so instead of stopping on the highway exit area I turned on my hazards to acknowledge him and pulled into the dealership lot. He asked me why I did that and I said because its well lit here so you can be more at ease to seeing whats going on. He asked me where Im coming from and headed to (the usual), told him I just left the shooting range and Im stopping by my parents to pick something up. Now of course he's thinking wtf its midnight what range is even open, he asked me and I explained its a members only indoor range 2 miles north open 24/7. I offered to show him lol, I didnt think he'd actually say yes but he wanted to check it out, so we went to the range. Pretty sure he ended up joining the club.
Yeah, pretty much. Don't be an asshole, know your rights, and it rarely hurts to have an FOP badge on your license plate 😂

Get to know your local police officers well
Once you've gained his trust , you should Invite him over to to a social gathering headed by you or someone close to you.
When he arrives to the gathering introduce him to all of your friends, acquaintances, and allies so he makes sure that you hold the edge in a social environment such as that.
After he's made some small talk and gotten comfortable there, ask him really loudly and clearly why he gave you a ticket, the social pressure and awkwardness of the situation will cause him to either drop it, or say it wasn't a big deal. Both of which will secure his downfall in court.
When his superiors find out what has occurred, they will lose trust in him, causing him to lose confidence in himself, leading to a negative cycle of loss of confidence and trust.
Eventually years later when his life is in the gutter, you must become a traffic officer, and pull him over. He'll beg not to get a ticket, and when he does that, look him dead in the eye and write him the fattest ticket ever written and slowly apply it to his car window, maintaining eye contact the entire time to maximize the disrespect and desperation of the man. Then leave, tipping your sunglasses down as you walk away.

Pulling over at the right spot really does make a big difference
When I was pulled over it was on a hilly area with no safe place to stop so I put on my hazards to signal to the police officer that I'm not trying to run, and we pulled over several blocks later on level ground
I didn't want someone flying over the hill and not seeing that we're stopped and he appreciated it enough to reduce the speed on my ticket from 115km/h (what I was actually doing) to 100km/h in an 80 zone
Instead of a 350$ fine and 3 points on my license because its nearly reckless driving, it ended up being 150$ and no demerit points
I totally deserved the ticket but he was nice for not being a dick about it. I didn't realize how fast I was going but I should have been checking so it's my fault

The problem with gaining the trust of anybody in "law enforcement" is that they're specifically trained to think of everybody who doesn't don a "law enforcement" uniform as being a part of "them" (as in "it's us vs. them 24/7"), making the task of gaining the trust of any one of them ("law enforcement"), as close to impossible as threading the eye of a needle with a camel 🐪 🐫 .
Unless you are also "law enforcement", it's quite possible that you're gonna take at least 20 - 30 years, and the l.e.o. will still be a "no show" when invited to any function involving you, and your circle of friends/family.
Oh, and good "luck" with getting hired into "law enforcement" after such an "attack" on a member of that gang!

Stay partly in the road until the officer approaches your car then look down and say, "Oh I'm still in the road I'm just going to pull over further so you don't get hit, I swear I'm not running, I just don't want you to get run over."
Got me out of 3 tickets so far!!! Not even a written warning on 2 of them!!!

Only works for military
Have some sort of military vertan decal on your car lol that has gotten my husband out of stuff. He got a ride home from a cop once for suspected drinking and driving... cops gave no ticket and even left his car there for pick up later (trust me, I do NOT support it and I screamed at him and even left until he got sober. It's been years now yay!), he got pulled over in a school zone because he forgot summer school was a thing and he was going above the posted school zone speed and got a verbal warning, and he was speeding on his motorcycle on the highway and was AGAIN let go with a verbal warning.

I've been pulled over four times for valid reasons but I've never gotten a ticket. *Never* pull into a *deserted* parking lot. I recommend pulling over quickly and, if readily available, into a populated parking lot. Parking lots offer safety to the officer. I turn on my dome light so they can better see me, turn off the stereo, and keep my hands in plain sight by putting them on the door outside the window. I never admit to knowing why I was pulled over, but never argue their reason. When asked for my documents, I let the officer know where the documents are and my intent to retrieve them, opening a glove box, reaching into my pocket, opening the box next to my seat. When I open a box, slowly, I stop and let the officer look inside to confirm there is no weapon. I address them with a suitable honorific ... officer, sir, ma'am. I express sympathy if the weather is unpleasant. I thank them whenever possible ... thanks for calling that busted headlight to my attention, for example. And I'll fix that immediately. I don't lick their boots or give false praise. I do show respect, courtesy, gratitude, and try to make them smile. When prompted and only when prompted will I assure them I'll fix an issue or correct my driving behavior. I don't recommend rummaging for documents before the cop approaches as they can see you hunched over reaching for something, but not for what you are reaching. Give them a chance to see you make an effort to assure their safety by methodically retrieving your documents in their view. I will say I've never had a cop violate my Constitutional rights by, say, demanding I give my social security number or explain from where I'm coming. I'd say pick your poison ... answer and give up your rights but hopefully skate on a ticket or defend your Constitutional rights and receive a ticket in retaliation. Of course, if you maintain your car and the speed limit ... there's likely never going to be a decision that needs making as you won't be pulled over. Again, I've never had a moving violation ticket, but I have deserved some. 😊

Most important tip - be born WHITE!
Some additional ... suggestions. Try to pick populated parking lots. *Never* go into a *deserted* parking lot. Use a turn signal immediately. You might even turn on your hazard lights for a few seconds to acknowledge you are aware of their intent and will comply. Then use an appropriate turn signal. Personally, I wouldn't roll a window down and wave. They might not approve of you appearing to be so casual and carefree with a cheery wave. It might be seen as an act of saying "Yeah, yeah. Hold your horses!". Announce your movements before making them and pause just long enough to allow them to veto a movement. I'm going to open my glove box to get my registration. Pause. Open the box, slowly. Pause. Slowly move your hands towards the box. Don't overdo any act. For example, don't announce you are going to hand your documents to them. Just slowly hold them up. I'm aware that most state laws only require you to display your license. If that's the hill upon which you want to die, go ahead and aggravate the cop by holding g your ID up to a closed window. Cops will find a reason to issue a citation. A common one is to say your tires crossed a line. Your dashcam won't definitively show you didn't and a judge will give the cop the benefit of the doubt. Even if they don't cite you for 'crossing a road line with your tires' they can use that as justification for extending the traffic stop for time to pressure you for *VOLUNTARY* roadside sobriety tests and searches by drug sniffing dogs. Pick your battles. I do think simple courtesies and showing a desire to acknowledge ways to make them feel safe go a *long* way to giving them a reason to just issue a warning. If you immediately argue that you weren't speeding or refuse to let them hold your ID they'll respond in kind and do what they are allowed to do to aggravate you. One last thing. Consider not getting your documents before they approach. They'll note you rummaging around your seat and become more ... alert. Edgy. Have,them readily available, quick. But let them see you open the box, pause and slowly rummage. Don't let them approach while you are hunched over grabbing at things they can't see.
In my opinion, don't apologize for your offense when they explain the reason for the pullover. Don't give them a reason to think you believe you can guilt them into letting you off, manipulate them, or play a sympathy card. They'll be more impressed if you show you are willing to take your lumps. Argue in front of a judge, not with the cop. 😊

I was polite but still got a 6 point citation for 85 in a 45 residential.
Had a ticket for disregard of a stop sign. When per my state laws the stop sign was not valid no painted stop bar on the road. Ticket was thrown out due to this reason but I made sure to state the officer was parked illegally when my dash cam video was watched. The judge ordered the officer to pay a fine of more than my ticket was. Then after court the officer followed me all the way to my driveway so I got to file a formal complaint of harassment. I lived in a total different county 30 minutes away.
And then everyone in court clapped 😮

Not too long ago my gf got in a crash, she was cited 550 and given a court date. Unfortunately, she couldn't make it to that court date; however when writing the ticket the officer put 8:20 as the court time, when in fact it was not, making the whole ticket obsolete unless the officer himself pulled her over again and wrote a new one. Considering we're in a new car that possibility is practically zero.

I had a dog who loved cops, because she LOVED shooting. (I took her out plinking with me and to shooting competitions). Cops loved her right back. If she was in the car I didn't get a speeding ticket, just a lecture on driving slower to take care of the dog.
Unironically I hope you do that. Even a sudden slow down from a guy cutting you off can maim or kill a dog (unless you have some sort of seatbelt harness for it). I am normally a chronic and excessive speeder, but when my pup's in the car, I drive like a granny.

I have seen a judge flat out not even hear the person fighting the ticket. When they started to defend the judge stopped them immediately and said, "My officers don't lie. Guilty. Does anyone else want to still contest the tickets?"

I always hate is when cops try to be funny and ask if you've got any drugs, guns, bombs, rocket launchers, dead bodies in the trunk. You've probably heard them before. I saw a video yesterday where a dude _did_ have a dead body in the trunk. Maybe the questions aren't meant to be funny after all.
Some of the tactics to fight the ticket in court, or showing that you won't fight the ticket, simply won't work in NJ. The police love going to court because it's extra overtime pay for having to just show up for a couple extra minutes in their normal work environment. Not sure how that works in other states.
Hehe-- all those questions, make a little note card and laminate it on your door-card. Then just read from them!

does your country not have traffic cops? I imagine pretty similar principles apply anywhere where there are cops with significant discretion on whether or not to write a ticket.

One time I got pulled over for doing 65 on KY-31W and I legit was 30mins late to pick my sister up from work. The cop also saw me earlier so he believed I was busy and let me off with a warning.

Maybe in Cali, but in Honolulu, the citing officer is given the benefit of the doubt in regard to errors on citations during traffic trials. We also don't HAVE to sign, the officer writes "Refused" on the signature line. Source: My brother is a solo bike traffic officer for HPD.
Tip #1 remember trails and other locations that the cops won’t follow. Don’t worry if they saw your plate you should be running a fake one.
Hey LawByMike, I got a doubt for you: if a police vehicle, ambulance or fire truck has their sirens on but there's a car in front of them that stopped at a red light, should the car move out of their way without getting a fine for skipping a red light?
I know in some places at least here in the US street lights are rigged with a kind of ‘remote access’ kind of device where the light reads a signal from an emergency vehicle coming to that intersection and the light will turn green to avoid those types of situations
And you can and should move out of the way if it is safe to do so. I have done this before. And driver's Ed taught this as well. Back when it was still a thing.
All I know from Germany or Switzerland: If you get caught by a red light radar, you can fight the ticket and say it was an emergency. They can register that date from the emergency vehicle (or that it also got caught by radar) and you won't have to pay.
Same for speeding when you can't yield to the emergency vehicle. But that's just Europe.
My assumption is the emergency takes precedence over the law in that case. Happened to me once, I was in the left turn lane on a red, emergency vehicle came up behind me so I ran the red, then pulled over to let them pass.
Most places now have sensors on top of the stop lights that detect the strobes and will automatically change so you can either make an immediate turn or proceed straight and move over. But yes if you get a red light ticket for doing that the picture will see the emergency vehicle most the time, if not the case can be brought up in court and they can check if any emergency vehicles were responding at that location and time.

My first and LAST traffic violations was speeding over 100 mph (more like 115 in a 55mph zone). The cop stated that he thought it a low flying airplane😁 Of course I was late for work :( I lost my license for 30 days. Back then my "Buick Electra 225" was just coasting down the freeway. I don't live in a city where driving is a thing, so I own no more vehicles.

That's number one - TELL HIM YOU WILL REMAIN SILENT. If he tickets you, so be it, but he won't get the opportunity to expand into investigating something else!

I assume you mean can the cop give the person violating the traffic law a ticket. It depends on the laws where you live. Where I live they won’t.
You'll never hear a cop say, "Oh, I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I'll let you go on your way," after an angry driver tells the cops they are wrong about their reason for pulling them over. Take your lumps. Argue in court. Give the cop a reason to think you want to make their job easier and they'll be far more likely to make your life easier with a warning. Hassle the cop and the cop will hassle you.
Adding to the courtesy section - once the cop is beside my window, I find that it helps to frantically dive over to my glove compartment and furiously rummage through everything until I find my handgun, which I promptly grab and shove into the officer’s direction as quickly as possible while screaming “I have a gun!” at the top of my lungs so that he’s made well aware. Cops appreciate honesty and it’s just safer to cough it up immediately.
Speaking as an officer I would say do NOT ask for a Warning. That is a very quick way of not getting one. Be polite and respectful. Don’t try to hold court on the e side of the road.

I was going onto a military base and was having trouble getting my ID to scan. I gave it to the SP and it scanned for him almost instantly. I said, "I guess you have the magic touch" to which he replied, "That's not what my wife says." I looked at him, at his partner, and back at him and said, "I'm just gonna leave that one alone." His partner just busted up.

Simple way to get out of a ticket. Don't pull all the way over stay in the road a bit, then when the Officer approaches your car look down and say "Oh shoot I'm still in the road and I don't want you to get hit, I'm not running I'm just going to pull over farther for your safety"

And 2 of those tickets were for inspection stickers which is a slam dunk in court for them!!! Didn't even get a written warning from either!
I had a cop hit me with lights and siren on a flyover between two highways. I put on my hazards and stuck my hand out of the window to wave and acknowledge I saw him. I then came off the flyover, exited the freeway and pulled into a shopping center parking lot. The officer came up to me and thanked me for what I did and not being so stupid as to pull over on the flyover ... then proceeded to give me a ticket for 7 over the limit. 💸 Next time I’m stopping on the flyover. 💀
@abikeanditsboy3449 Funny thing is depending on state you have to pull over IMMEDIATELY so you should just spot right in the freeway, safety be damned. Then they can get you for fleeing if you do not IMMEDIATELY stop, at their discretion of course.

You would have gotten a ticket. When I was in law enforcement, I rarely wrote tickets. I'd hand out verbal or written warnings like candy. The agency I worked for always claimed they didn't care if you ever wrote a ticket. My friend and I decided to test it. I went 4 months before someone talked themselves into a ticket. Not one word was ever said to me about it.
Having said that, if you stopped partially in the road and made me walk in the lane of travel, I don't care if you eventually moved. You would 100% get a ticket. I wrote one to a police officer for that.
A Tennessee trooper was hit and very nearly died. A deputy that used to work for the agency I did was hit and killed by someone not moving over. If they will do that while we were out of the road, being in the roadway increases that chance. Anyone who would put anyone in that position, always got whatever I could write them for. If I would have given a verbal warning and I could write four violations, they got all four.
Playing games with people's lives to try and make it look like you care to avoid a citation would make me turn a suspended driver's license that I would let you call someone into an arrest, vehicle impounded, etc. I would go from hey slow down to speeding, seat belt, window tint, failure to signal, etc.
one thing you forgot to add is that if you are given a ticket, after the officer hands it to you you should be asking specific questions. The first one should be how the officer ascertained your speed. If he says with radar, immediately ask to see his radar certification. Most officers don't bother keeping their certification current. Gives you a good loophole in court.
I don't know where you live but I've been in law enforcement and radar certified in a couple of states. I've never been anywhere where law enforcement is required to keep their certification on them, much less show it to anyone on the side of the road. If you want it, subpoena it during your case.
I've been out a few years now, but after the citation is issued, the traffic stop is over and I'm not entertaining any questions. Ask all of your questions in court and file subpoenas for whatever evidence you want before the court date.

ive only been pulled over 3 times in my 6 years of driving and i have been able to get only a warning for 2 of those times because I was always very respectful and would know just what to say to make the officer feel bad for me and make it seem like I would have an extremely hard time paying it. the first time I got pulled over I had no idea what to do but learned quick lmfao

Before watching this video, I suppose you should pull over to stop at the nearest safe location, roll down the window before the officer walks over, turn off any music or phone calls by the time the police address you, state that you believed yourself to have been going the speed limit while focusing on the road if asked how fast you were driving, and politely invoke the fifth insofar as any other inquiries concern. Did I miss anything?

Turn your face away and ask what the description was. They need to provide at least a few details that match you specifically, and if they do match them to you, invoke your fifth amendment right and get a lawyer. Beyond matching a description, they have no evidence that you as an individual are guilty of any wrongdoing. Odds are you’ll get your time wasted, but if the officers push it too far, you can sue and make a boatload of cash.

One time in court it was kansas or missouri-a long time ago the cop wrote down the correct license number and vin but the wrong make--it was like a plymouth instead of the dodge version of the same car but it was dismissed because he got that one detail wrong. The car was in the parking lot and they actually went out to check it. DISMISSED!
Call them on anything they get wrong, because they're out to get you.

I was going 85 in a 55, state trooper caught me going 79 in a 55. Ended up telling him i was running late for work and I can’t afford to miss. He dropped it to a 65 in a 55 and the ticket was payable and I don’t have to show up to court. My friend got caught 75 in a 55, his got dropped to 65 in a 55 but he gotta show up to court and pay a higher ticket than mine 🤣🤣

2:16 This is false (at least in my district and in the district of the author of some literature on the subject) cops get paid overtime and the ticket court dates are tailored to their schedule in many case. The only possibility would be if the ticket says 'officer away on X date' and you get a clerk to put it there when they don't notice, but I've never seen that on a ticket and might have been an old thing that's no longer done.

Everytime I’ve ever hired a traffic defence lawyer I said I’d pay the ticket, but I don’t want the ticket on my driving record nor lose any points over it… So they literally just have it adjourned till a later date, then adjourned again till a later date, then adjourned again till a later date. Now the cop has shown up 3x they’re wasting more money on the cop being there than the ticket is even worth…then you end up paying the ticket and not losing any points or risk insurance going up. I stunt motorcycles for fun and have beaten stunting tickets, and reckless tickets with this approach.
Tip #6: pursuant to tip #1, casually mention you’re a friend of a friend of the cop. The cop will now tell you how to fight the ticket and promise not to show up.
Source: me. That’s how I got out of a ticket once. I had no idea the cop happened to know an acquaintance. He still wrote the ticket and I still got towed, but no points or fine!
Tip 1 for getting out of a ticket, don't admit anything, take the ticket, and just contest it in court. 99.9% of the time, the cop won't even show up and as long as you didn't admit fault they will toss it.

How to beat a traffic ticket in court...don't be breakin' traffic laws in the first place.
For real though, I was caught speeding. I looked the officer in the eyes and said, " Sir, I am so sorry for speeding. I really have to take a shit." He let me go right away. I was going 10 over when pulled over.
A few years ago I got a ticket in a speed trap where the limit went from 55 to 30 with no warning. I was accused of going 45MPH. I decided to request a contested hearing. Upon reviewing the citation I noticed that the police officer put the wrong mile marker on the citation. I sent a letter to the state DOT GIS department asking them what the speed limit is at that mile marker. They responded with a letter stating that it is 55 MPH. I took the letter to court and motioned to dismiss on the facts that I was being accused of going 45MPH at a location that according to the state DOT is actually a 55MPH zone. Without the officer there to change the record the court has to take the officer's citation at face value and dismissed the ticket.
Having issued 1000s of tickets, i knew the moment i stopped someone if they were getting a ticket or a warning. Many people talk themselves into more tickets by whining. I favorite line i used to get was " am i helping uou get yiur quotas " nope my boss now lets me write as many as i want.
My husband was a cop. Once when he was running an errand, he saw a well-known felon who wasn't normally in our neighborhood. While he was looking at him, startled, the car in front of him stopped dead and he clipped it. Lady called, young cop came, and was hemming and hawing. Finally, my husband told the kid to write the ticket or he'd get his book out of his briefcase and write a ticket on himself. Young cop complied. Not all cops are vindictive.

I got a ticket for “driving at a safe speed” from a car accident. It was a solo accident when I was late on my way to work and all it takes is a second. The engine caught fire. I lost consciousness. It wasn’t good, and I was lifeflighted to a hospital more than 2 hours away. (Wear your seatbelts, ladies and gents. Saves lives.)
Back to the ticket, we just ended up paying for it but it felt we had already been paying enough (lifeflight is not cheap, even with good insurance, + extensive medical bills.) It was such a strange kind of trap ticket to be issued. I guess my question is could this have been fought at all? Not that it really compared in price but any penny would’ve counted at the time.

I was able to talk my friend out of getting arrested by talking to the cops politely and talking to them like they are human
He had a suspended license
He told me he didn't know
He was driving my truck it was 3 am and I was tired and drove 3 hours to get him
Also it was pretexual stop and I told him as much (broken tail light )
That and I had a carry permit and I didn't know where my license was so I let the cop check my weapon
And even let him check my vehicle for my license
And he said we could go but I had to drive and I did
That said we found out later that a kid was kidnapped a few counties away that night so it's unlikely we were a high priority that night
That said every situation is different
Like every cop is different
I think one of the most important things to do at first is be polite
Don't admit guilt
And read the situation
Also don't ever say anything that might get you in trouble even if you think the cop doesn't care
Or it's not illegal
I actually joked with my friend is kinda like what they tell you do when your a hostage

What about those States (and/or other government entities), that have a statute that requires you to pull over IMMEDIATELY (usually also "without exception"), for "law enforcement", and other first responders when the emergency lights are activated????
@daleallen7634 if not for me then I pull way over to let them by. This video is a bout getting out of a ticket not impending emergency vehicles. I am a certified emergency vehicle operator for both fire and rescue but never bring that up to them. This

Im not in America, but have worked in law enforcement previously. I have let a lot of people go with a warning (written or verbal depending on the situation) because it was a relatively minor offence and they were pleasant when stopped.
The people who started off the interaction with the likes of "Why don't you go stop a REAL criminal?" got the snarky reply "unless you can float through that wall, you're about as real as they come right now" and the fine.
It's all about the attitude. Law enforcement are doing a job. There are some that are bad, yes. But most if you treat them nicely, they'll do their best by you, even if it still has to result in a fine.
Do not unbuckle your seatbelt. Do that in the officer's presence and announce that you're doing it.

Hey @LawByMike, I'm facing some trouble going back to school as my doctor has refused to sign a paper saying we have been warned of the possibilities of not being vaccinated. In the appointment records for the physical, the doctor said that they warned us, but still refuses to sign the form. The reason for this is that they do not support religious exemptions. I don't know if you know anything we can do, and thought I would leave this comment for you to possibly answer
