AfrikanTahti? Who knew?

- This is probably the most popular game I never heard of, but that might be a bit presumptuous. There may be a lot of million-sellers I never heard of. But this one's been around for over 70 years (and so have I)!
The players are moving about on a map of Africa which is criss-crossed with land routes and air routes, and there are a few sea routes around the coast as well. They're looking for the famous "Star of Africa" diamond, which has been stolen. During the adventure, players will discover sources of wealth and information, encounter a few pitfalls, and have to spend some of their precious funds to search for the elusive gem.
I find it interesting that a player can win without actually finding the diamond, but apparently generations of Afrikan Tahti players haven't questioned this.
NOTE: Thanks to Jakubias at BGG for a correction: The first publisher was not Alga, it was Tilgmanns Printing Press in 1951.
If you have played the game, let me know what your impressions are. Is it worth tracking down a copy to play on family game night?

I was born in Finland in early 70's. We have played that game hundreds of times back in the days. Owned several copies too. Now I don't have a copy, nor do I live in Finland anymore. But I've been trying to get a copy recently.
This was a good reminder to get a copy on my next trip to visit my family.
It's a great family game where everyone has a chance to win.
New to me in Yorkshire England 🏴 🇬🇧
Sounds a bit like "Pirate & Traveler," mixed with a tiny bit of "Monopoly."
😁👍
New to me in The Netherlands. Gotta say that a lot of the box art looks pretty iffy... I wonder if more recent releases counter this. If this is so difficult to get, wouldn't a homemade version work fine?
It may not be difficult to get in Scandinavia - but it doesn't seem to be available at all in the U.S.A.
@@NewVentureGames I sent you a message at BoardGameGeek, let's arrange a copy for you.
TORILLE
This game is huge in Finland. All American homes have Monopoly. All Finnish homes have Monopoly and Afrikan tähti. And they both suck!
