I was born in Finland in early 70's. We have played that game hundreds of times back in the days. Owned several copies too. Now I don't have a copy, nor do I live in Finland anymore. But I've been trying to get a copy recently. This was a good reminder to get a copy on my next trip to visit my family.
Fun game. Even big part of "real boardgamers" hate this. Played this as kid and been playing it still time to time when there are younger family members around. Got Deluxy Version of the game. Compared to original, this one has little bigger board made of thicker cardboard and plastic gamepieces with sparkling diamonds inside 🤓 This game also has a addon, Retkikunnat ( =Expeditions). It makes gameplay more tactical by adding more rules and character cards. There is also a playincard version of this diamond hunt.
As I mentioned, many boardgame players dislike this because its too simple, all you need is luck, and so on. But there are many people also who dislike this game because it is "rr asis tt" and supports colonitial ideology 🙄 just last week we🇫🇮 had (once again) big headlines about it. This time it was because city of Turku was planning to remove these boardgames from local daycare centers because they are not suitable for todays children. There was backlash and they canceled they plans. For now.
Company who sell these has defented the game but during last years they have started to bend the knee. That version with tiger on cover on the box was one, it was designed to be more "kid friendly". Latest release of the game, big wooden box (about 150€) . Looks amazing, but, the graphics of the gameboard were edited more suitable for modern day gamers. Basicly, no more "rrrassistt" native people, only African wildlife.
New to me in The Netherlands. Gotta say that a lot of the box art looks pretty iffy... I wonder if more recent releases counter this. If this is so difficult to get, wouldn't a homemade version work fine?

It's a great family game where everyone has a chance to win.

New to me in Yorkshire England 🏴 🇬🇧
TORILLE
Sounds a bit like "Pirate & Traveler," mixed with a tiny bit of "Monopoly."

It may not be difficult to get in Scandinavia - but it doesn't seem to be available at all in the U.S.A.
@@NewVentureGames I sent you a message at BoardGameGeek, let's arrange a copy for you.
😁👍
This game is huge in Finland. All American homes have Monopoly. All Finnish homes have Monopoly and Afrikan tähti. And they both suck!
You forgot to mention Kimble 👍 sure, not a boardgame, but, pretty much as popular game as Afrikan Tähti among finnish people.
@@DVDhoarder I would call Kimble a board game. Kimble is the Finnish version of Trouble. Hugely popular. Also ass.
Yeah, mayby you are right. Its a some sort of board game.
Got all three mentioned here 🤓👍🇫🇮
