A great track written by a brilliant song writer. I also adore The Hamsters (another great band from the Southend area) version of this on their 2004 album Open All Hours. They covered many Jupp tracks and I also think their version of Brother Doctor Sister Nurse from Condensed Hamsters circa 2000 is a masterpiece. Sadly they hung up their guitars in 2012 but they made some brilliant albums.
When i look at you girl .... ... I get an extension....i aint talkin bout graham bells invention ..... Cracks me up..... Mickey jupp, rock n roller.. love this song n " standing at crossroads"..
Does anyone think, as I'm beginning to, that the version you hear first is the one you end up preferring? Most people would probably rather listen to this than the Nick Lowe version but Lowe's, in my opinion, is better, for no reason I can see other than I got into it first.
It's close. This version features that Chuck Berry-style rackarack guitar rhythm that you'd expect on a Rockpile thing from Dave Edmunds. They're both great.
Micky Jupp - The best rock 'n' roll talent EVER produced in the U.K. and leaves the others (Fury, Wilde, Richard etc.) way behind as also rans. It just goes to show how luck - and a good agent - plays a part in success.
Hi there - I have the version that is on Mickey's 'Long Distance Romancer' album? TBH (with a few exceptions) I thought that G & C's 'clever' production spoiled a good number of the songs, especially 'Chevrolet'. That's why I used an alternate version when putting this video together. Best wishes 👍
Im 84 now. Still rocking.
The more I listen to Mickey Jupp the better he gets. Been listening for nearly 50 years now.

One more great song too many people have not heard - their loss, too bad! He is damn good!!
The LP Long Distance Romancer was produced by and featured Godley and Creme. This is a track from it.
Quite right John, but this particular version is from the Mickey Jupp, Live at the BBC set.

Thanks for the book recommendation, I just ordered a copy. You're the author, LOL. It should arrive in a day or two.

I think Nick's/Rockpile's version has a quicker tempo which I prefer to this.

Why is David Bowie operating the switchboard @ 1:06?

"EVER"? You probably use words like "NEVER" and "ALWAYS".
@@mbogucci1 Yep, but I NEVER use it if inappropriate, and I'm ALWAYS consistent. 😃
@@GoonerBob42 I'll allow it.
Cheers fella :-)

Hello Russ, do you have the Godley & Creme version of this song?

Russ Cottee Agree, I like G & C and 10cc but their production style does not work for simple rock and roll / R & B. Switchboard Susan is an exception.
Theres proper
