Ah, a new horde of orcs
and what, gul'dan must we give in return?
When I was a kid, I thought the pikemen were on the walls because they could stab people from up there. Made sense at the time.
This is nostalgic. I remember playing this game and the sequel a lot.
I had to pirate the second game but had bought the first one and was so hyped up over how smart and dynamic the AI is. I was told you could shoot the Mûmakil and they will rampage and go berserk. I never could make them do that and they just ending up dying anyways to arrows.
Still playing
...This game looks insanely good for 2004. Still very playable. Aged like fine wine.
AA !!! Haven’t seen the whole video yet, but at 1:20:55 you’re looking for an attack-move function. Just hit “A” before you issue your move command!!
I also would like to think this entire campain is played out between frodo and Galadrial when he offers her the ring and she goes full dark Mistress.
The seige mechanics in this are amazing
How the hell did you get it to run
There’s a patch that runs it on Windows 10 - still working on getting it running on 11. Works with the sequel too!
Although lately to run more of these old games I’ve set up an old Windows XP machine with a capture card because some of them are really stubborn. There’s surprisingly a number of eBay sellers who deal in tricked out XP machines with modern architecture
Sauron shares no secrets of optimizing his rings.
@@ambiguousamphibianvods lol that's fucking great
Install the disk, and capability to Windows XP. Or just install windows XP
Criminally underrated LOTR game: Sierra’s 2003 The Hobbit
You can't level up Christopher Lee, he's already anime protagonist level.
“Oh man Christopher Lee did the voice over, so great, let me turn the volume up.”
*Proceeds to talk over voiceover so you cant hear it.*
Why.
No silence allowed, gotta keep talking to drive that engagement up.
@@IAmCaligvla People make fun of this but for whatever reason it's true. If you're not constantly running at the mouth people really do just lose interest and find something else to watch, regardless of what you're doing; the people who *don't* are typically your core audience that you already had. Human brain bad
The thing about enmassing trolls is they knock each other down when they are about to die but otherwise fun.
An amazing game that I loved playing growing up! A quick tip before you start the 2nd game: I believe you can make numbered squads (select a group, press ctrl-1 through ctrl-9) and select them later with the number. Double tapping that number should center your screen on the squad as well.
if you pressed A on your keyboard you use the comannd to walk to a set destination and attack everything thats along the way
I loved playing Isengard as a kid because they look the coolest, but they are objectively the worst faction. If you play skirmish with hard-level AIs of each faction they are, almost always, the first to be eliminated.
The adjectival form "Rohirric" is common; Tolkien once also used "Rohanese". From wikipedia
Or they might say Eorling lands as well. Tolkien certainly enjoyed leaving a variety of options to describe each peoples lol
Eorlings and Rohirim also work
I watched the full good play through and appreciate the additional content! Gotta give it up for Cristopher Lee 🤩
Im not sure if someone has mentioned this already but you talked about your crossbowman having bad range compared to the enemies. This is actually genius because Crossbows are shorter ranged than Longbows by alot usually.
Amazing! Purely astonishing gameplay!
Oh my god youve unlocked deep memories, thank you so much for this, i loved this game so much cant believe i forgot about it
Love the pike and uruk-bowman combo. Or full on melee with swords and pikes. Waves is the evil zerg strike
Legolas and Gandalf have the best upward abilities. Though aragon with the ghost army is cool, but timed out
played this as a kid. Fried my dad's PC downloading "trainers" from sketchy websites.
If you havent go check out some of the modding projects some have been going for 10 years and its really impressive
Yessssssssssss. I played LOTR BFMII on 360 growing up. Such a phenomenal RTS.
Love the Vods def would have helped knowing Q selected all units :D
Yeah I used internet archives to replay this as an adult and was amazed how many critical controls are shortcuts kids never knew about
ive tried finding a PC port of bfme2 for YEARS before giving up, could never get them to work. super nostalgic game for me, honestly i think it and halo wars were the only reason i ended up getting into computers later down the road.
Just Google bfme all in one launcher on UA-cam
*GASP* The GOAT! I love BFME1.
The only game I liked more was star wars empire at War n its forces of corruption dlc. Or "expansion pack" if you're old like me, lol
there is an attack move command in BFME. I think it's like, control A? or A move
I belive that it's covered in the game tutorial school lmao
I want to play this game again so very badly. This game on 360 (or was it the sequel?) spawned my love for RTS games.
The sequel was, this is free on internet archives for everyone for all time
Oh and so is the second one
Battle for Middle-Earth 2 when ?
Uh a shame that IT isnt on gog, Lord of the Rings licence
Tell me about it! I’d love a GOG release too
@@ambiguousamphibianvods the licence stuff is for lord of the rings games is hard to the understand, i See nö chance sadly for a remake
Oh my god this is the greatest lord of the rings game. My freaking favorite. How the hell you get it to run???
The Lord of the Rings were amazing! you should play War in the Nord
I'v been replaying C&C3, it's in the same engine and these games do feel really good.
eEeViLl voice crack of hell. Sensational
Not sure if you ever saw my message on the last video but Q selects all and A is attack move :3
Gotta go with 2. It may be the greatest rts ever made.
Ahhh I see someone else grew up on greatness
There is also rts before film game
Lord of the rings conquest is a fantastic game give it a go
THIS IS AWESOME
I LOVE THIS GAME
I wish they would remaster these games
trolling all the way to Minas Tirith lol
Im honestly surprised I didn't know about this game
Not 'Rohanian'. Rohirrim is what someone from Rohan is
Battle for middle earth 2 was the good one
No
Then there was battle for Middle Earth 2. Which is on console but not on the game stores 0:25
2nd one was on pc alongside the Angmar expansion. Used to have the discs but have since lost them.
@@exaltedcrayon5771 would have loved to get that one
Brother is your voice alright?
Personally I recall LOTR: BFME II being the superior version! But that might be nostalgia speaking- I never played much of this one, just the second one.
how did you get the campaigns to work as i downloaded and managed to get the game to work via abandonware but i couldnt get the campaigns to work
This game is excellent
Yes, Indeed
If you want to see how far BFME came from, this engine is the same engine that ran Star Wars Empire at War; and if you want some solid proof *the game uses force duels for those animations that lock.* Whenever a Troll is "Boppin' another over the head" that's from EaW where many of the Hero-Villain fights will "snap" into combat, which is what some of the hero-villain matchups in BFME do as well; with the mechanics remaining *exactly the same* from EaW.
Try out the Cinematic Camera when you're finishing up a mission. It's designed to try to follow matchups for fights as well as trying to follow arrows and charges.
Many of our modern games use *ancient* engines. Bethesda and Epic Megagames both use their same engines from when their companies were conceived, just changed slightly to work on modern systems or sometimes to re-use existing architecture; every time you climb into Power Armor in Fallout 4 that's the Werewolf code from Skyrim and all of the "debuffs" are spells to the engine, even Skyrim has a secret setting for Radio's and broadcasting as it's based off of the same engine that was used in Fallout 3.
Truly *nothing new under the sun* once again; but it's notable how many times people can literally re-purpose the same wheel with a new schlack of paint infinitely.
Sir you are simply incorrect for not mentioning the LoR Battlefront clone that I can't currently remember the name lf
Conquest?
Indeed
1:21:43 i’m guessing he never ever played an RTS before lol it’s always been control a that is the attack move. It’s I swear they teach it to you, but maybe I’m just like imagining things.
You know when I started playing video games 15 years ago I wasn't very good. AA somehow gets worse. Also, when he colabs with people he doesn't really listen to them, making him sound dismissing at times. It might just be me.
How can I play this game now? Its not listed anywhere I can find
11:21 wizard is blasting you away, what more do you want from a name
is there no attack move in this game? I don't remember
1:28 yes there is, you can shut it and put archers on the walls. Rookie mistake
7:12 nah, either faction can be stepped on
8:28 could shut the gate and funnel them to the other opening. I thought you'd have better strategy
4:57 only against swordsmen. Horses or mounted will desomate them
4:46 double production with a second building. Second rookie mistake
Yes!!!!
I just remember getting frustrated thst my army wiuld get killed by 10 horsemen so i would just spam spears and some archers. The goblins were so bad lol. I think thatbwas the second game. I was like 14 and still remember some battles
12:19 at this point the eye doesn't know where they are so why would the generals
The sequel better
This guy has the easiest setup for the game and all the mods in an all in one launcher! Enjoy!
