Maybe that's the only weakness that Hal should've put while other attacks including star bits would have no effect at it. Not only would Void be the hardest boss to face, but also the most unique boss as well. It's like you said, Kirby is killing Void with kindness so that it would be reincarnate into someone (Kirby) with a heart.
The ONLY way I can beat soul melter is if I cheese it with Magalor, since he has the mid air gaurd ability where he cloaks himself and you can move him around without getting hurt. Plus I get a free heal whenever I fight wispy woods or francesca

This was why the dark matter species seek kirby. The know they can't win but they don't want to. They wanted a second chance of happiness
It’s honestly kind of a shame Astral Birth VOID only ever cycles through the same 3 attack types (with variants) once the Dark Matter attacks start, bc I would’ve appreciated harder attacks reminiscent of other Dark Matters (even though Drawcia isn’t a member) & his much more annoying attacks from before & Void Soul. Also I think you know this by now, but you can duck the Dark Mind lasers & float in front of VOID during his Zero lasers
If I’m remembering correctly, the common consensus in the fanbase is that the extra skin you unlock for beating Soul Melter EX is Void reborn with positive energy.

In Japanese version, it is said void is the origin to all things. Including Kirby, ancient artifacts, dark matters and some bosses :P A bit of a Deus ex machina, but not a bad one in my opinion.
He takes damage from Friend Hearts. The unpurged evil within him feels pain from the light of Kirby's pure, unbridled friendship, the power honed and tempered by the fragment of the Heart Spike.

We know this. But one of his attacks in Void form caught my eye... His reflecting laser attack. Something about those lights that he makes that circle around him caught my interest just now, because... Well... They're mirrors. What other mirrors exist within the Kirby world of note? The Amazing Mirror. That means that not only is Void Termina- and Void in turn- the progenitor of the Master Crown, but also the Amazing Mirror, which lends credence to why they are both corrupt artifacts.
I think it's moreso a reference to Dark Mind-who btw is the mirror world version of Dark Matter/Nightmare-and its ability to have mirrors reflect its laser attacks

I think the reason for the white void is to not only reference Zero and Zero Two, but also to describe an endless void being seen as either darkness or light.
Every Soul boss shares movesets such as Drawcia Soul inspired the Burning Sun attack as well as the Cutter Attack, Teleporting, Dark Mind Laser came from yours truly, Spiky Thorns from 02, Hellfire Rain attack from Drawcia, Deadly Bound attack from Drawcia, Multiple Lasers from Magalor Soul, Warp dash attack from Magalor again, Spiky body from Miracle Matter. Chaos Elfilis's colour scheme is a reference to 02, Void had it too, Magalor Soul had it in his mouth. Also about a few minutes in you can hear Void's theme in Elfilis's theme.
This reminds me of fairly odd parents wishology. The main overarching villain, aptly banned the darkness, was a void that inhaled everything that it came across. However, it turned out to attack those that attacked it and sought Timmy because he was the only one that gave it something nice. Perhaps void termina is like this? Seeking Kirby again because it knows Kirby has the power to gift it something special, to remake it into something more than a conqueror.. a friend

To answer your question, Void is basically Kirby but born with Negative emotions, not like the Kirby we love. The Kirby we love was born with Positive emotions, while this Kirby was suffering with no happiness. By defeating it, we don’t kill it, but we witness a birth of a new Kirby. One who will know that the next life will be better. One who will be born…as a friend.

The floor looks similar to Dark Star’s from K64, right before you fight 02.
Notice his attack patterns? Needle, Cutter, Beam, Laser, Burning and mirror, all abilities Kirby has had.
