Pronunciation. Every time I try and tell people but there's not a wrong way say things in the dialects cannot be wrong they don't get it
I've watched this video years ago.
Watching it today in a completely different perspective all but proves it.
As a Scripps National Spelling Bee semifinalist, I take pride in being able to pronounce nearly every word an unabridged English dictionary if I know its origin. Dr. Bailly is an amazing person, and I'd love to learn from him.

@@reduxdev well there is no letter to confuse the A with, so no mot Naysa, also they take the first letter only, so it would be naysa if it was written like this NAeSA, because the E is what gives the A that sound, without the E it would sound like a normal A.
Besides we're talking about two different letter G and J in gif, not the same letter but different voules or something.

It was an 1/3 of those examples, words we are really familiar with so we can remember easily. So when the narrator says some vowels sound the same in those words we can easily call back to it.

He’s like my opposite. I can spell any word perfectly after hearing it even just once but won’t be able to even remotely sound correct pronouncing it.
I even didn’t know that there is a spelling competition. I heard Japanese learners struggle with memorizing many kanji characters. However, the number of Kanji characters is limited, while that of English spellings is quite a lot.

"GIF" stands for "Graphics Interchange Format". Pronounce the letters the same way you do when you say "Graphics Interchange Format", i.e. GIF with a hard G-sound and not a soft J-sound.
Except that the creators of the format themselves pronounced the word as "jif" with a soft "G" /dʒɪf/ as in "gin", deliberately echoing the American peanut butter brand Jif. And it's a logical choice, no better or worse then yours, just different. Like the video says, it's really down to the majority to choose.
