There are two stage beams 6inches apart, you have to be fully out of the second beam to trigger the light, trying to be out of the beams exactly when the light turns green. It’s what makes drag racing so hard. These are slow cars so it takes a couple hundredths of a second to actually get out of the lights.

It’s all about timing. You can do that with a slow launcher to improve your reaction time.
