    The 1990 Royal Rumble was not just Hogan inadvertently eliminating the Warrior.
    During the Rumble at one moment, all other participants were cleared out by Hogan and Warrior and only those two briefly in the ring one on one.
    It was electrifying and the crowd stood in attendance, to witness something that had not been seen on PPV. The two top babyfaces facing off.

    I still own Wrestlemania 5 on VHS. My favourite part of the match is right at the start when Rude goes to knee Warrior in the gut, but he sells his knee because he actually hit the IC Title belt that Warrior still had around his waist. It's the little things that go a long way. The whole rivalry between Rick Rude and the Ultimate Warrior is definitely worth a watch.

    • @WrestlingBios
      @WrestlingBios  5 років тому +9

      Such a great way to start the match. Right after this, Warrior just throws Rude from turnbuckle to turnbuckle. Rude bumps so hard around the ring for Warrior.. it was so good.

    Great video. I found it when trying to show my young son the Warrior's entrance. I remember when I saw it first, we had the WWF at the time in Dublin but it was his "first" entrance on that, I think they said he was a newcomer to the WWF. The energy, music, run, shaking the ropes, smashing the opponent, it was iconic.

    Randy Macho Man Paffo Savage and Jim "Warrior" Hellwig, two of the best of friends in real-life. I met Warrior while I lived near his home in Scottsdale AZ in the mid 90's until 2012. I have to say, Dana and Warrior were the nicest people that has ever walked this Earth. There will be no one else more inspiring and wise, who cared for people to believe in themselves like Warrior. Heck, his UA-cam videos were motivating, very intellectual and articulate just like him. No other wrestler ever reached out to his fans or simply to those who needed an injection of pure inspiration quite like him. In the end, all he wanted and be was a real good father, a mentor and a role model to his kind-hearted daughters Indiana and Mattigan. Rest in Peace Warrior! I think Hogan, Andre the Giant and The Rock transcend wrestling. Even my Grama knows who they are. After that you can make an argument for a lot of different guys in different eras. Warrior, Austin, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Jericho, Sting, Triple H, Cena ... They all have their claims but no one touches those top 3 in my opinion.

      stone cold, rock. It does depend on how old the person your asking is.

The fact that it's so blatantly negative only seems to add (to me) to the mythos of the character. Almost like he's portrayed as part of a horror film at times.

    16:42 In case anyone missed it, this is what Vince wrote to Warrior in the 1991 letter.....
    "Your principal complaint apparently is that you are not being compensated at the same rate as Hulk Hogan, although "Hulk" is a living legend, is still much better known to the public, has wrestled longer, is the WWF Champion, is in much greater demand for personal appearances, is a bigger star and draw at WWF events, is more dependable and is far more revered and respected by WWF fans and by the public at large. You have become a legend in your own mind; you are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, you are not entitled to vent your feelings by breaching and threatening to breach your contract."

      Who was a good main event champion during those days wrestling wise? Macho Man and that's about it. Warrior took the Hogan route of getting beat down 80% of the match and making the comeback to win. He couldn't sell like Hogan though but he still "hulked" up during the comeback.
