The Rock and Stone Cold had the best promos. They truly defined the Attitude Era because although they were the two biggest icons of their era, they were so vastly different.
We need a triple h vs the rock rivalry history just like this one, great work brother keep it up. I believe the ending segment from smackdown March 29th 2001 Austin’s interview with Kevin Kelly when he went in a cussing tirade planted the seeds for heel turn slowly. Also we should have an Austin vs Kurt feud like this too.
The two biggest wrestling stars in the history of the industry. People many times have said either one would have dominated an era of wrestling, but this rare point in history they both coexisted in the same era, the best era. Many sports have classic and legendary rivalries and events. These two were IT for pro wrestling! It’s poetic that Austin’s final match was against the Rock in Wrestlemania.
Excellent telling of perhaps the greatest tale WWE will ever have. Won't lie it got emotional when you started talking about XIX, and you did a great job really giving it the weight it deserved. There will never be another Stone Cold and he went out like a man.
19 was cool to see them break kayfabe and you saw how much respect they had for each other. 17 was a great match but like Austin said he should have stunned McMahon. Forming an alliance with Vince was kinda lame.
19 was a great end to an era. Other than the Austin heel turn at WM 17, it was an unrivaled time in pro wrestling. Austin went out on top against his greatest (wrestler) rival and didn't overstay his welcome. It would've been cool to have him for the RA era, but his body was breaking down. More matches against matured WWE wrestlers along with some of the incoming RA stars would've been awesome. WM 17 was more intense as a spectacle, but WM 19 was a great finale to an unrivaled legacy.
Fantastic video covering a fantastic topic. Rock vs. Austin is basically one of those feuds that we should have been honored to witness as we grew up as fans. It's the feud of a generation.
The visual quality of the clips you used are amazing. Very quality video you made here. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us down the road! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Great video. I think one comment that could have added to the lead up to WM17 was Austin returning from being run over and then losing his 3 stages of hell match with HHH. I think Austin losing that match plays into the fact that Austin doubts himself enough to "sell his soul" to McMahon to be WWF Champion.
Austin's heel turn was just awkward; there were some great moments but it just felt wrong with his persona. The Rock on the other hand was a far more compelling and entertaining heel; Hollywood Rock was his best gimmick IMO.
At first, Austin's heel turn had a lot of potential. HHH getting injured pretty much messed that up. Him sucking up to McMahon was hilarious, but probably turned a lot of people off from wrestling in general. Even still, when he briefly turned face against the Alliance, he got one of the loudest, longest crowd reactions I've ever heard. That second heel turn really hurt his popularity, even though he did great work as a heel and honestly had some of his best matches ever (Angle and Benoit matches come to mind).
Austin’s first heel turn was alright, but would have worked better if Rock was there, unfortunately Rock was in Hollywood, and it left us with a missing puzzle piece. Austin’s second heel turn when he joined the Alliance was absolutely horrible, it was the nail in the coffin, I still don’t understand why they did it.
@@roodypoochrisw They were considering a HHH face turn for the first Austin heel turn so that would have been the summer program, but obviously the injury messed it up. The second one could have been saved if they did Rock vs Austin at Summerslam but making Austin leader of the Alliance was dumb and it killed any heat it could have had. What I would have wanted to see was Austin/HHH for the title at WM 18, that match would have deserved to headline instead of the mess we got with Austin/Hall and HHH/Jericho.
No one wanted him to turn but it was funny. Austin is just one of those guys you always want to cheer same went when they tried turn taker heel he still got cheered
The I love you line from The Rock, to Stone Cold Steve Austin. Makes me teary eyed, just a little bit. Because these 2 proud warriors hated each other, and that line was heart felt in my point of view. These guys made my childhood during, The WWF's Attitude Era.
This was probably some of the best wrestling I had ever witnessed. Natural enemies, Stone Cold, and The Rock they put on clinics every time they met in the ring.
Quite excellent video. Perfectly sums up a wonderful time in professional wrestling. I'm somewhat sad we'll never witness anything quite like this again...
While yes, the Debra angle of the whole feud is mostly forgotten leading into X7 I do appreciate how it helped fill out the time between the rumble and the mania match pretty successfully. The sit down interview overshadows everything but there was months of television/ppv’s produced before that pinnacle moment and the Rocks pursuit of the title was very effectively kept connected to Austin with the inclusion of the rattlesnakes wife. You look at the months long builds done since then, the Becky/Rousey train wreck of a build with knee injuries and Trips/Steph and then McMahon/Flair inserting themselves into the whole mess and having Austins wife manage the Rock for a few weeks before taking a bump resulting in Steve attacking Rocky is grade A writing.
I’ve been waiting for the past 2 weeks for a video like this. I wanted something with the Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin, but you gave us both. Thank you very much.
I have found myself binge watching the content on this channel for the past two weeks. My favorite vids are definitely the Monday Night Wars series. Good to revisit this match trilogy too.
Correction. The Rock didn't lose the right to face Triple H at WM19. In the backstage segment he said to Bischoff he didn't want to face Triple H because at this time he needs a victory over Austin at WM rather than the world title. So he cancelled his match with Booker T. Then Bischoff said that he still needs The Rock in the match at RAW because "sponsors and advertises were promised to see The Rock in action" or something like that. So The Rock went on to face The Hurricane with whom he had a backstage segments for some weeks during that period. Still an awesone video though. One of the best feuds of all time. Maybe you can cover the rest of their matches too? Would be great!
Its funny how he says hes not gonna give a play by play of the first match because we all saw it, then proceeds to give us a play by play of the forst match. Great videos!!!!!! I LOVE WATCHING THEM.
Kurt actually won the WWF championship from The Rock in a one on one title match at October's No Mercy PPV. Kurt successfully defended the WWF championship in December's Armageddon Hell in a Cell Match.
For those too young to remember, Angle won the Title off Rock at No Mercy in the October (Austin against Rikishi in a No DQ match), defended against Taker at Survivor Series (Rock vs Rikishi, Austin vs Trips, which of course led to HiaC @ Armageddon). Austin had a 2 out of 3 Falls with Trips @ No Way Out (1/ Straight match. Austin won. 2/ Street Fight. Trips won. 3/ Cage Match. Trips won).
I remember as a kid, Schoolyard talk with Rock Vs Stonecold was split down the middle and everyone had a reason to why one was better than the other. Seeing this video gave me flashbacks of those days.
Most of the time I am working on something either as a hobby or sometimes for work when I have the tv on in the background, but this was so captivating I had to stop everything and just enjoy this. Another great factual portrayal of history, thank you WB, you do a great service to the history of sports entertainment with your tributes.
This is the pinnacle of wrestling. From their legendary promos to some of the best wars in the squared circle, Stone Cold v The Rock will NEVER be surpassed.
This was a fantastic piece you put together and did it justice with as short as you had to make it. If I had to make a fanfic ending to "WWF," it would be out ending after Wrestlemania 17 and immediately skipping to their third and Austin's final match. Really hope Austin stays retired and doesn't ever try to do the "one more match" thing. He's got a chance to save what is the peak.

Epic times. Only back then you have two biggest baby faces of the company, instead of one. Something that has never been replicated and never will. Glad I grew up on watching this.
My favorite will always be Wrestlemania 17, it's where I realized that while I really liked Stone Cold, The Rock was definitely my favorite wrestler ( he is my favorite all-time now ). I also remember it being weird because it was a completely different atmosphere from when I'd usually go there to watch a movie ( it was basically a wrestling audience but watching at a movie theater. The Rock and Stone Cold had the best promos. They truly defined the Attitude Era because although they were the two biggest icons of their era, they were so vastly different.
''With all due respect''
-Stone Cold
Rock versus Austin at wrestlemania 19 is my favourite.
Rock is my favorite and even tho he won that 1. 17 is the best one?
I would like to see the Rock and Stone Cold make a movie together sometime.
Much as I love Austin he is a mediocre actor lol..... No.
@@roodypoochrisw what do you mean second? It was a continuation
I love your content so much. This one I have to watch to wait tho because I'm binge watching 1999-2001 threw at the moment.
I found myself rooting 4 each other at certain times during that great era
Pretty crazy that all 3 matches were quality. Even that last match where Austin wasn't in the best health was still fantastic.
Austin must have known that XIX was it after what happened to him leading up to it as revealed in his podcasts and gave it his all.
I’ve subscribed to many great wrestling channels, but this channel truly became my number one place to go for the best wrestling content!
Great video, I love coming home after working all night and just sit and relax and watch your channel. Thanks for what you do brother.
The rocks selling at the stone cold stunner was legendary 🙌🏻😂⭐️
Quite excellent video. Perfectly sums up a wonderful time in professional wrestling. I'm somewhat sad we'll never witness anything quite like this again...
The best rivalry ever Austin vs rock
I've been here two minutes and you just got a lifelong sub. If you're making stuff imma watch it. I appreciative you and this content.
I’ve been waiting for the past 2 weeks for a video like this. I wanted something with the Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin, but you gave us both. Thank you very much.
WrestleMania 15 - Overbooked
WrestleMania 17 - Amazing
WrestleMania 19 - Clean
I loved Austin’s heel run in 2001. Both of them were amazing faces but they were also phenomenal heels too.
What? What?
Another classic video, thx man!
Rock be back when the Lakers beat the King's in may!!!!
well he's not going to be back for anytime soon because the kings haven't been in the playoffs in a over a decade😂😂😂
I have found myself binge watching the content on this channel for the past two weeks. My favorite vids are definitely the Monday Night Wars series.
Good to revisit this match trilogy too.
They made each other GREAT!!! This rivalry is absolutely legendary and I have unlimited nostalgia just thinking about this time in my life....... wow
Would be great!
one of my favorite rivalries ever. awesome thanks for this.
WWE is, indeed, "creatively bankrupt", in comparison to the AE and the RAE.
The Rock and Austin was the NextGen Rhodes versus flair
Hogan vs Flair
Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock rivalry was my childhood.
Its funny how he says hes not gonna give a play by play of the first match because we all saw it, then proceeds to give us a play by play of the forst match. Great videos!!!!!! I LOVE WATCHING THEM.
Rock vs Austin at Wrestlemania is the WWE making up for not giving the fans Hogan vs Flair.
The remix of the Steve Austin theme is lit 🔥🔥🏴☠️🏴☠️
This is the feud I remember the most from watching wrestling back in the day. Incredible chemistry between the two.
This serves as a reminder of what wrestling once was and could be again.
Trips won).
One of in not Arguably the greatest rivalrie of all time
This was a really good video!
The greatest trilogy in history of wrestling
Simply THE BEST wrestling channel on UA-cam.
I remember as a kid, Schoolyard talk with Rock Vs Stonecold was split down the middle and everyone had a reason to why one was better than the other. Seeing this video gave me flashbacks of those days.
Fun Fact: Stone Cold had OMR on his vest. It stands for one more round since this was the last match of his career.
Good news on a Sunday night ... another Wrestling Bios upload. And that too featuring The Great One. Good times❤️
Austin's heel turn just didn't work and wasn't time for it.
He didn’t had a top babyface to work with and HHH got injured
@@daherreysso2826 Basically this.
@@daherreysso2826 yep. Rock left to do scorpion king and there was no one else bigger.
@Ghostface True 1997 Heel Austin was better than 2001 Heel Austin.
Most of the time I am working on something either as a hobby or sometimes for work when I have the tv on in the background, but this was so captivating I had to stop everything and just enjoy this. Another great factual portrayal of history, thank you WB, you do a great service to the history of sports entertainment with your tributes.
I was not expecting to cry at the end. All the memories.
What an intro!! 🤘 Really enjoying your videos
Austin and Rock Once in a Lifetime Greats😎👍🖕🖕🍺🍺
Subscribed. Love your videos dude. Wrestlemania x-7 is by far the best ppv of all time.
Amazing video of my personally favorite rivalry in wrestling of all time!
I didn't know Stone Cold wasn't medically cleared for that Mania match.
Mad respect for him working that match.
No no no keep it G... The Great One said the one thing he hadn't done was "whoop that bald headed candy ass at WrestleMania" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
8:35
"Priorities, Vincent... Priorities." 😂😂😂
2 legends ,who saved the wwe, during the monday night wars. And became the biggest stars in the wwe!👍👍👍🍺🍺
This is the pinnacle of wrestling. From their legendary promos to some of the best wars in the squared circle, Stone Cold v The Rock will NEVER be surpassed.
great video man, love your work.
The whole Stone Cold, Rock Debra angle reminds me everytime of The Hogan, Macho Man, and Ms. Elisabeth situation.
2:40 "as it should be!" Made me laugh so much because its so true and so subtly put in there.
XV man those times for me were great I was 17 just enjoying life. Everything was fresh then.
Now I'm old and bitter but watching this nice to bring me back
A rivalry I grew up watching from 2001-2003 (I was too young to remember anything prior to 2001, besides small moments like the World Rally Championship)
I have always been a fan of both Steve Austin and The Rock, so this will be an excellent 30 minutes of my time.
2000 was arguably the best year for WWE.
You really miss out on 98-00
I really look forward to your videos 💯
The Rock heel turn at survivor series was one of my favourite ppvs growing up, watched it over and over.
If you go back and watch those 1999 HBK commissioner clips you can tell he was pilled up.
yep he looked completely zonked at WM15 and it showed as he botched his lines.
That sit down interview that these guys did with JR was some seriously amazing work
"Creatively bankrupt", that's one brilliant way to put it lol
I remember watching it at a movie theater with one of my buddies and his brother and everyone there being hype. I also remember it being weird because it was a completely different atmosphere from when I'd usually go there to watch a movie ( it was basically a wrestling audience but watching at a movie theater. I remember being super pissed at how Rock was being booed ( even after Stone Cold had clearly aligned with McMahon ). Good times... lol
Been waiting for this one from you. Amazing!
