In today's video, Chuck concludes the video series on making a belt pouch! This series showed how to make a pouch from start to finish, spending some extra time on tools and materials that can be used in your shop to aid in your leatherworking. In this final video, Chuck shows how to assemble the belt pouch. Chuck will be gluing, punching the stitch holes, and hand stitching the pouch together. As well as attaching the belt loops.

Ah I wondered if you'd ever mentioned canvas for burnishing in any videos - I was taught that by a saddlemaker. He said wood burnishers were a waste of time and grabbed a demo strap, wet the edge with water, and wrapped his hand with some canvas around it. A few good, quick, but light gripped passes across the whole strap and it was slicked as good as I've ever seen.

Chuck, just a quick tip I learned about roughing the leather. If there is room on the piece being roughed, use a steel straight edge. The roughed area will have a crisp clean line and you don't need to worry about going too far in. This is especially true when roughing the top grain.

Thank you for breaking down all the steps. I am familiar with some, and others I am not. Always fun to try new things.

Honest question about the stitching pony: if the issue with the thread coming down and unlocking the clamp is so common you need to put tape to make it stop, why wouldn’t you just make it with the clamping lever rotated 180 degrees?

As always a great video. Thank you for the tape tip on the stiching pony. After the third time my thread "released" my project, I remembered it.

Chuck, this is just a suggestion. You've covered the wood strap cutter before, but what is missing is setting it up for the thickness. I think it would be a good help if you could work that in somewhere.

Treasure doesn't like using a stitching pony. Have you considered trying her technique of hand sewing leather?

Great video! Do you prefer the Leather Balm over carnauba wax as top coat or finishing layer?

I'm now thinking of leather crafting as a personal use hobby. i might be able to find leather classes, but how difficult is obtaining the different leathers? Really enjoyed your videos. I guess that's why I'm considering leather craft as a hobby. Have anything on rounded 'bottle' shaped crafts?

There's tons of books and more videos just like this.
Leather isn't so hard to come buy, depending on where you live. I live in West Texas, and there's several shops that sell any kind of leather you need for anything from this pouch to boots and saddles. But there's also online retailers.

Chuck, today my project really did get out of control, my groover tool jumped quite a bit, leaving some grooves not as straight as I like. How can I keep consistent control of my tools at all times?

I have that same issue sometimes, when creasing an edge with a hot creaser... ruins your whole project!
