Hi guys just found your Chanel and enjoying your early videos just a couple of questions if I may ask Any marinas you recommend and how you found learning the Uke and which model thanks great channel
❤look forward to seeing more. The 230v the heavy stuff. The computer , phone lights. Fridge freezer the telly etc. Added to gather, and at night. That's what tests the measure of these type of set. Up. Or so I was led to understand. If these run a boat. With the all in one approach. It's much cheaper than running a conventional boat set up.
A blizzard of numbers, Mark, but easily understandable. (Alright, I was a CT/MRI engineer when I worked!) I'm actually amazed at just how much power can be drawn from solar - always better to be charging storage rather than driving a 'real life' load - and how much use you an make of your (roughly) 1 Kw. I wonder how much you have saved in diesel you haven't used for battery charging? Have you ever contemplated going electric drive for the boat? David (Cruising the Cut) did a review of a boat with an "Azipod" drive (which I know would be too massive a change to make without really messing the boat up) you may have seen? I was very impressed at the overall philosophy of driving the boat (and everything) on electrickery while having a silent generator SOMEWHERE in the boat for emergency/top up sans solar. Great vlog Mark (sorry to see England only got Bronze, but hey-ho, its a podium!)
Thanks Roger. I would love to be able to afford an electric boat as I think with most things its the future as battery and solar technology develops. England got a lot further than most expected so any podium finish was a bonus
Thanks Mark, that is all very interesting and apart from boaters this is great info' for where ever you live in this day and age. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Looks great ! How much heat does that unit put out around it ? Looks like you have a variety of chemicals there. Be safe and I’m sure you considered all that already . Glad the unit is an improvement ❤️
Another fantastic video 👍 Question on the recharge, I know there's lots of variables to consider but could you give a rough estimate on how long from 0% - 100% for a solar only charge and a solar & generator charge?
I understand the idea for portability (semi given the weight) etc. but for a narrow boat how does this compare financially to buying lithium batteries to replace your lead acid batteries and of course upgrading anything as required in the charging and power management parts? I really do like the idea of being able to easily switch battery packs or add more without feeling daunted by the work that would entail with a normal battery array.
Buying separate item of similar capacity and quality would work out more expensive Victron 3000w inverter/charger £1200 Victron 100/50 MPPT £215 x 2 £430 Victron 100Ah lithium battery £999 x 2 £2000 Total £3630 Then you’ve got the cost of all the other items and heavy duty wiring and installation costs if your not able to carry out the installation yourself.
I have the Bluetti 200AC Max. I’ve got the PV200 Bluetti panel. I’d love to connect my boats solar to the Bluetti (got just shy of 1.3KW of roof panels). I’m no DIY expert. How easy is it to connect up? Can you point me towards a Vlog if you’ve already covered this? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
It would all depend on how everything is wired on your boat, it not complicated. At the moment im just unplugging my solar from where it enter my boat via MC4 connectors and plugging these directly into the MC4 cable that come with the bluetti
So taking into consideration the initial cost of the equipment, how long before the system has paid for itself, once you’re not using the hook up power?
Amazing Mark… I have started with the JACKERY Explorer 500 just for when I am out and about, eventually I am looking at getting an upgrade similar… it’s just the technical hook ups I’m anxious about. Not being too technically minded, it’s probably not as difficult as one imagines, but it’s a definite step in the right direction… A question, what about heating up the emersion system. I understand you already have a ‘solar dump’.
From my memory you get something like a 10% loss with lithium vs 30% round trip with lead acid. Still watching the video, you should have a lot more hot water from solar. I would be interested to know if you have noticed that. I guess when you started with this new system was going into winter.
do you get a full days use on one charge or do you have in mind how many addons you will need to run a full day its great to see you back on love to see some more beer reviews
Thanks for watching and commenting. Not missing anything as that’s also an option. It’s just with these plug and play 51.2VDC Lifepo4 systems there no need for all the big heavy gauge wiring that a 12VDC system needs. Just trying to show people what other option are available
Love your channel it was a big reason behind us getting narrowboat and doing vlogs. We want to get a drone but haven't a clue what one to get, never used one before so don't want to spend too much, any advice or recommendations?
Selling the acid batteries you might take that money and put toward a Lifepo4 12v battery maybe as back up, you cannot have too many backups. Maybe use it to heat water?
@@welldeckdiaries5610 Thanks Mark. When I queried a lithium install with my insurance (GJW Direct) they require the installation or certification of installation by a qualified electrician. Your setup, though, is not installed in the boat as such.
Hi Mark, Debra just wishing you well for Christmas and New Year. With safe travel on the high seas keep warm suggle up closer in bed. I found best two or three people, if three, the person in the middle may have to move to the outside like the penguins do or you may over heat. Bless you both Merry Christmas 🍻🍺🥂🍹🍸🍾🍕🍟🌭🥪🌮🍻🥂🍾🤭parcetomol🤣
Also, the Bluetti AC300 is not the best out there. It's ok, will work ok. But it's proven to NOT produce the amperage advertised. As the Aferiy system doesn't either, the other system you showed us recently that you highly recommended but that does NOT work as advertised. I don't know about the UK (or Wales or Scotland or northern Ireland), but in the USA, the Renogy system is rated FAR superior to any other, and it is available in the UK. I've tested five different systems on my boats and in my travel trailer ... Renogy wins every test. And I'm not being paid by Renogy. 🙂 And for remote (not hard-wired) battery systems, Jackery wins hands down every time. I've tested inordinate number of batteries and battery systems ... Jackery has proven the best for batteries that are not hard-wired but are "remote" systems that are used with their own cables, and can certainly be cabled permanently into your boat or caravan. For a truly hard-wired, permanent system, other batteries might be better, but you need to do TECHNICAL research/testing. But Mark you plug things into your boat system and then use their success as proof that the Aferiy or the Bluetti systems work. You need to test the actual input and output of each system using digital technology, not just that a mower or weed eater works or the laundry works or anything else. Please give us real input and output of each system and their draw on your batteries, the time/amperage needed to recharge, etc. And then compare those numbers to another system that you test in exactly the same way. The weight of that Bluetti at 36 kilos is less than 80 pounds. I lift 140 pound C7 Ford transmissions from the floor up to the bench, by hand, no tranny jack helping. I weigh 140 pounds, and I lift 140 pounds. Of course I'm not a "guy" so maybe, well, hmmm. And then there's your question "what would you GUYS do?" Well, we gals would do proper research and buy the best product. 🙂 I love your vlog, Mark. I really do. I hope your research about electrical systems will improve. You know I'm a life-long retired gas/diesel truck mechanic. My comment is not to criticize, but to help.

Miss seeing you two. Hope you are well and happy.
Hello ! Hope you two are doing fine...Missing you!!
Hi you two. Hope you are both OK. Are you not cruising anymore ?
Its a mystery , just vanished.
@@originalpickaxe Yes they are still cruising. I bumped into them a couple of weeks back in their new home/boat. No doubt a video is coming soon !
Hi,
I hope you’re both ok!! Long time no see.🙏
Watched the vlog this morning. Great to see you back. Love the hair Debs.
Thanks ❤️
Very interesting. Love being off grid. I’m no electrician and the way you explain it I can understand…. So thanks for that! 👍
Thanks ❤️
Very clever. You are so enthusiastic as you try and test. Great to listen and watch you. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Just thinking about you two praying things are doing well with you both ❤
And here you are again. I must be living right to see you two days straight. Very informative. Thank you. 😊😊
Thanks ❤️
We are missing you 😢 Are you coming back?
If your not doing anymore thats fine but it would be nice to know your both well ! Quite concerned for Debs ! regards Leg's
Yep , its a mystery

Its a great plug and play system with every thing you need in one box, and this oe=ne is expandable from 3072 watts to 12288 Watts

Hey guys I just heard you guys sold your boat did you get another or back on land hope all is well with you two !!😊
How are y'all doing? I haven't seen anything from you in too long.
Hope all is well with you two not seen any vids

Good morning. I haven’t seen u two in ages! Have u stopped cruising or doing videos??? Sure miss u two, hope all is well! From USA, ohio !
Another great test. We're looking at a smaller powerbank for our motorhome. When is your Ryte Nyce Pynt review?
Very soon!
Looks great ! How much heat does that unit put out around it ? Looks like you have a variety of chemicals there. Be safe and I’m sure you considered all that already . Glad the unit is an improvement ❤️
it has a cooling fan that kicks in when large loads are on, and ive only experienced Luke warm air being blow out of it
HI Mark and Debbie are you coming back missing you. Hope everything is good.
Another fantastic video 👍
Question on the recharge, I know there's lots of variables to consider but could you give a rough estimate on how long from 0% - 100% for a solar only charge and a solar & generator charge?
Between 1.8 and 2.3 hours with maximum 2400 watts of solar, around 2 hours from a 3000 watt mains source and 1.5 hours for combined solar and mains
Buying separate item of similar capacity and quality would work out more expensive
Victron 3000w inverter/charger £1200
Victron 100/50 MPPT £215 x 2 £430
Victron 100Ah lithium battery £999 x 2 £2000
Total £3630
Then you’ve got the cost of all the other items and heavy duty wiring and installation costs if your not able to carry out the installation yourself.
Great video as usual. I couldn't quite make it out, how was 230V connected from Bluetti to boat pls?
via the 13amp plug that plugs into our onboard inverter, we just unplug it from that and plug it straight into the bluetti
I have the Bluetti 200AC Max. I’ve got the PV200 Bluetti panel. I’d love to connect my boats solar to the Bluetti (got just shy of 1.3KW of roof panels). I’m no DIY expert. Don’t know if I missed you saying but I’m assuming you can charge the Bluetti from your 12v alternator as well? 😊😊👍🏼
Yes you can
I really like the idea of using Bluetti with a couple of battery packs👍🏼👍🏼
So taking into consideration the initial cost of the equipment, how long before the system has paid for itself, once you’re not using the hook up power?
I(ve yet to sit down and work that one out, but a very valid question
Amazing Mark… I have started with the JACKERY Explorer 500 just for when I am out and about, eventually I am looking at getting an upgrade similar… it’s just the technical hook ups I’m anxious about. Not being too technically minded, it’s probably not as difficult as one imagines, but it’s a definite step in the right direction…
A question, what about heating up the emersion system. I understand you already have a ‘solar dump’.
Yes I done the solar dump a couple of years ago
From my memory you get something like a 10% loss with lithium vs 30% round trip with lead acid. Still watching the video, you should have a lot more hot water from solar. I would be interested to know if you have noticed that. I guess when you started with this new system was going into winter.
Hi Mark & Debbie, Hoping you are well, but wondering why you haven’t been back on yet. How’s life and how’s the new boat? Missing you loads. 🙏☹
do you get a full days use on one charge or do you have in mind how many addons you will need to run a full day its great to see you back on love to see some more beer reviews
To be able to use the immersion heater to heat a full tank of water and run all the other things on the boat I would need another B300 battery pack
Dunno if I’m missing something but why not just bin the lead acid and put it Lifepo4 batteries that integrate with solar, inverter, engine charge etc?
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Not missing anything as that’s also an option. It’s just with these plug and play 51.2VDC Lifepo4 systems there no need for all the big heavy gauge wiring that a 12VDC system needs. Just trying to show people what other option are available
Great vlog, interesting alternative to led acid.
How does the price compare with buying individual lithium phosphate batteries.
Doesn’t compare. You’re paying far more for these than a good quality lifepo4
Ive never worked it out but a very good question
Hi . Have you two given up making videos? Hope you're both well.
Is that a garage heater behind you? Interested for my husband. Great video!
if you're referring to the silver finned item over my right shoulder then no, it my inverter
@@welldeckdiaries5610 sorry wrong video lol...love your videos too though...❤️

One thing that can bring down the efficiency numbers is the idle consumption.
Selling the acid batteries you might take that money and put toward a Lifepo4 12v battery maybe as back up, you cannot have too many backups. Maybe use it to heat water?
Will this system replace the starter battery?
No, we would still have an independent starter battery
Well, each my two Jackery 1000WH devices produces about 97%.
Does this have any affect on your boat insurance?
I honestly don't know as there seems to be a lot of rumours and speculation on lithium set ups
@@welldeckdiaries5610 Thanks Mark. When I queried a lithium install with my insurance (GJW Direct) they require the installation or certification of installation by a qualified electrician. Your setup, though, is not installed in the boat as such.
