    We have that same transfer switch on our house. We do run it 240 due to a well water pump. We needed an 11th low draw circuit so I installed an “EZ generator switch” and run a ln extension cord on a case by case basis. It’s worked well for us the last couple years.

      Nice! Good to hear it's working out well for you the past few years. Hopefully it'll workout that well for us😊

    I have added an AC300 to my Nexus Triumph 30t, installed under bed, I only have one b300 battery but plan on adding a 2nd battery after tax refund, I love it and run everything as compared to the dinky 1k inverter that came with the rig, will also be filling the roof with solar this season.

    I see the advantage since it’ll kick on if you’re not there. I spent $1,800 on a generator that will run my whole house, including the A/C. I love it! Because I’m in Florida, I got it for hurricane season and power outages due to storms. It doesn’t automatically switch on but that’s not why I got it. That Bluetti has a hefty price tag though. I wish I could afford it.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah they both have pros and cons for sure. We can understand why you got a whole home gen living in Florida and pretty much guarantee power loss a few times a year it seems haha

    Ah, garage door opener. Good idea to have that on backup as well. I just bought the AC500 w/2 B300s batteries. I'd love to have your skills to install the backup system myself. I think I could do it but I'm gonna get an electrician. I'm getting too old to die young. btw, I would be interested in seeing a video if you ever do one with the solar panels running it.

      Yeah if you're not confident in doing it yourself, definitely get an electrician. Sounds like you've got a great setup! We are planning on recording more with the setup and solar panels👍🏻 keep an eye out!

    Mike, I’m glad you did this video. I’ve been waiting for technology and someone to put together something like you did for a home backup power source. I’m not really a fan of putting in a propane or natural gas backup generator. However, I’m very interested in what you’ve put together with batteries.

    Mike. I'm just starting to look into this as a home backup option (vs a Generac whole home system). How long do you think you can run your circuits on the battery backup? I'm looking for something to power similar items as you have for 6ish hours. I figure anything longer and I would switch to a typical portable gas gen.

    Hi Mike & Lynn, I was wondering if you have a well pump? I would keep that on backup. Also, do you have an electric hot water heater? That would probably last for a while before needing juice to heat up but the well pump is very important. Another great video indeed. Thanks. Slainte!

    Hi, great information. I don't have a battery backup as yet, still doing the research for a future system. I'd like to do something similar. I currently installed a six circuit transfer switch (exact one you installed but with 6 circuits) to use with my generator. Generators use the four prong 240V twist lock connectors the same as on the transfer switch. In order to use the Bluetti AC300 you mention connecting both the L1 and L2 lines together to be able to power every circuit in the transfer switch. I've found two different types of adapter cables are available for going from the NEMA TT-30 connector on the Bluetti to an L14-30 connector. One will tie only one leg to the line side and the other will tie both legs together to line. These seem to be referred to as 120V and 240V adapters respectively. Wouldn't replacing the Bluetti cable with a 240V TT-30 to L14-30 adapter cable satisfy this connection problem? I'd like to keep the wiring in the transfer switch the way it is so that if I need to I could still connect my generator. Thanks for the informative video.

    So Lynn, it Mike going to have to sleep on the couch until he realizes that the hot tub is essential?🤣 I mean really, if the power is out what else do you have to do? I didn't hear you mention the furnace on the circuits you want to protect. Maybe it's on one of the circuits that you are protecting. I' assuming that the transfer switch isolates the grid from the power you are supplying to your house so it doesn't back feed the grid. Just something to think about. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  8 місяців тому
