In my opinion, this is greatest layout ever built. I say that because given the opportunity, i'd be willing to travel the 2000 miles or whatever to go see it. Cant say that about any other.
Thanks. Great Layout. Wonderful job you've done. Soo Realistic, especially with your GoPro HD Camera Shots. Great City Buildings and Scenery. Fabulous Train, and Sounds. One of the Best Train Layouts that I have seen on UA-cam.Mmmmmmmm
This is the best urban layout I've ever seen. There are a lot of good pictures on google images that really capture the detail he put into this. The level of realism is incredible, countless figures and vehicles of various eras so finely detailed.
I've seen many model train layouts in the last 50 + years but this has got to rank up there with the best, plenty of layouts hat show cities do show most what is there in real life except for one major thing that's mostly left out and that is the human factor. I don't care how much detail is put into a city scene if you don't have the amount of people to inhabit that city then it looks like a ghost town, people in cars in and on the trains people on the streets doing what people do adds to any scene and this layout most certainly has all the elements of a busy active city.
The most realistic, detailed layout I've ever seen.I wonder if it's possible to have a layout where the cars (and maybe the people ) also move to make it even more realistic.
THE most realistic model train layout I have EVER seen! That includes the rolling stock, of course, but you have accomplished here what NO OTHER video of a layout has ever managed: YOU FOOLED ME! For a moment I honestly thought I had stumbled on a live feed! There are not enough superlatives in the English language to adequately describe what craftsmanship is encompassed here, and I stand in awe! This video is going straight into my favorites to be viewed over and over and over again. I'm going to switch from N scale to HO and see if I can come even 1/2 way near your level of realism. You, sir, are a genius!
Wicked awesome. The gritty urban scene even includes boarded up windows-even on Corleone Olive Oil Company! Nice "touches" with the amorous couple groping next door to Bukowski's Liquor, and the guy in the park fondling his lady's derriere. Anyway, cool train shots and action; an all-around awesome scene.
One of my all-time favorite models. Just in awe. Love the real scale bar in the room! Seems like there should be a brownstone stoop to sit on and watch the procedings!
I appreciate the detail that went into this. The lattice steel on the elevated section looks as close to identical as you can get of the elevated trestle that runs along the St. Louis riverfront prior to its reconstruction.
I'd LOVE to have those buildings on the other side of the elevated structure for my NYC inspired layout that we're just starting on. This for me is the supreme layout. I'd also would love to know where Vic got those street lights as they're closest to a city street light as you'd find in NYC. I haven't been able to find anything that close in resemblance yet as far as street lights go. STUNNING detail on this superb layout, and many thanks to Vic Smith for creating it, and Rex Smith for filming it. BRAVO to you both!
It reminds me of one of those Fixed Exhibition, Parade of Trains, View only, layout at Science Museums , etc. Great on Scenery and detail, but no working turnouts or actual different moving operations in any of the display areas.
Hey, the A-Team is in town! No mistaking that black and red GMC Vandura van at 0:20. Looks like some bad guys are gonna get their "clocks cleaned out" today!
Beautiful and realistic layout. I noticed something about that lead Union Pacific locomotive. The white grab iron from the front step is disconnected and hanging from the platform of the locomotive.
The attention to detail is astounding such as the metal shutters over the windows in the apartment house and the texture to the roads. How about running some classic F units such as a Burlington passenger train.
Cory Dork: Because they can't appreciate just how much work has gone into this model RR. Some people, you know the type, are too dumb to realize that. Do you know what I mean?
Wow, great ride, the most realistic i've see. wonderful cityscape. For me, the only thing missing would be a streetcar line, well nothings perfect, but this is close. A lot of hard work there, fer sur........
Call this model railroading & you will come up short of descriptive adjectives. This is 3 dimensional, ultra detailed reality of it's own time and place.
What a great layout. The detail is amazing. The camera work is perfect. I saw subway cars in the yard. Is there any subway activity on the layout? Thank you for sharing your work.
Yes, I gathered a bunch of my Engines - 300, Cars - 1500, switches - 250, layout 80 % completed, goes it 3 rooms, only can run 2 sets of trains, hidden tracks (11) can hold approximately 40 cars with 4 engines, plus many feet of scenery completed. I'm not blowing my own horn but it's to let people know how involved this hobby can be, and yes, very, very expensive.
This is the BEST layout I've ever seen , buildings are excellent. ....I did an elevated subway not as good as yours but it works......Did you scratch build your buildings ? I have a city im building and my highest one is only 17" . I would like them 24" and higher.....Any suggestions?
This is 100% my inspiration for my layout I am about to build. This is it! I just wish I could get a copy of the layout to work with. I suppose Vic doesn’t email these out by chance?
Great detail, loved all the older vehicles. Lotta scenery crammed into a tight space, but... Since you showed the floor plan, I have to ask: Why are the trains all over on one side? You could be utilizing that entire floor space for your layout. Who needs an 800' rec room with tables in it? Unless it's in a bar or some other business, I can't see any reason for wasting all that space that could all be filled with trains.
this is the perfect layout I've ever seen!
This is incredibly detailed. I felt like I was in an episode of Kojak at the start, until I saw the A-Team van.
Wow! Got to the the greatest layout I've ever seen. The attention to detail is magnificent!
Bow to your Amazing creativity and work, the layout looks natural and is very entertaining to watch, Great video capture👌👌👏👈👍👍
If i could only achieve 25% of the realism displayed here i would be happy. :)
Truly a work of art.
This is the best urban layout I've ever seen. There are a lot of good pictures on google images that really capture the detail he put into this. The level of realism is incredible, countless figures and vehicles of various eras so finely detailed.
What a fanatic viewing angles and caboose ride
One of my favorite layouts I've seen on youtube, thanks for the behind the scenes look
I've seen many model train layouts in the last 50 + years but this has got to rank up there with the best, plenty of layouts hat show cities do show most what is there in real life except for one major thing that's mostly left out and that is the human factor. Fabulously realistic layout. Magnificent!
The absolute best!!!!!!!!!
Rivals something Hollywood would do.
Round and round! (Ratt playing in the background) Glad to see the A-Team hanging out at the Palace. Really cool layout!!!!
WOW, I WATCH A LOT OF THESE MODEL TRAIN VIDEO'S AND THIS HAS BY FAR AND AWAY THE BEST WORKMANSHIP.
I have seen many, many train layouts on UA-cam. But this is by far one of the best and the coolest layout I have ever seen👍👍👍!!!
This is my latest video: ua-cam.com/video/c9rlb5vVQzs/v-deo.html
Wonderful detail and amazing track work! Must be a lot of fun... and hours of work!
Thank you!
The most realistic, detailed layout I've ever seen.I wonder if it's possible to have a layout where the cars (and maybe the people ) also move to make it even more realistic.
The coolest HO Scale video I've ever seen.

I have never seen a better layout! City or country!!!
The sound effects are the icing on the cake. I am astounded with a loss for words! Thanks for a great experience!
I’ve been watching this on an average of twice a month for like a year now 😍 really fell in love with this layout when I saw the MTA subway cars
One of my all-time favorite models. Just in awe. Love the real scale bar in the room! Seems like there should be a brownstone stoop to sit on and watch the procedings!
My God ... you got a talent ... absolutely gorgeous.
Fantastic layout. This is the first layout I've seen where the roads and buildings didn't look pristine. Everything looks as if it is actually in use.
At 0:16 that's my 1966 Dodge van, with a slant-6 engine and 3 speed on the column!
Love the layout, the bar and you included the A-Team. You are a true American.
Absolutely fabulous layout! Australia.
I saw this layout in MR years ago. Absolutely one of the best urban layouts I have ever seen!
Now THIS is my kind of model railroad!
That's the most incredible detail of a model railroad I've ever seen!
I appreciate the detail that went into this. The lattice steel on the elevated section looks as close to identical as you can get of the elevated trestle that runs along the St. Louis riverfront prior to its reconstruction.
Great! I especially liked your cars and trucks.
you probably heard this many many time,...simply the best..thanks for the show....
That is some beautiful modeling. I love your work!!
I think we can all agree this is the epitome of model railroading.
What an ambitious layout :)
I'd LOVE to have those buildings on the other side of the elevated structure for my NYC inspired layout that we're just starting on. This for me is the supreme layout. Amazing, simply amazing. And thank you for showing how it all started. Now I understand how/why people really get into railroad modeling layouts.
You truly are a master model railroader Vic, thanks for sharing.
Very well done...... thanks for sharing
It reminds me of one of those Fixed Exhibition, Parade of Trains, View only, layout at Science Museums , etc. Great on Scenery and detail, but no working turnouts or actual different moving operations in any of the display areas.
Best layout I've seen in a long time.

A bar and TV just great to relax with a drink and Unstoppable
Funny part is I have seen the cars and Trucks before in the Mags. The Blue and primer Dodge is the give away most of the time... :)
Amazing pictures, very cool! What a beautiful video! Congratulations ...
Slightly impressive!!!!!!! Congratulations is all i have to say!
this thing is next level. very impressive.
Beautiful and realistic layout. I noticed something about that lead Union Pacific locomotive. The white grab iron from the front step is disconnected and hanging from the platform of the locomotive.
1:53 UP7529 I've never seen so many front lights on a loco.
That took lots of skill and looks great!
Thank you for sharing footage of an incredible layout!!!
02:36 “Oh no, Father's playing with his trains again” :D

ABSOLUTELY, and I really mean INSANELY BEAUTIFUL! OUTSTANDING!
Great job on your cityscape, love the attention to detail all the way down to the A-Team van... lol
fantastic train layout!!!!!
Awesome layout!
The attention to detail is astounding such as the metal shutters over the windows in the apartment house and the texture to the roads.

bryan m
Really cool! Minus the three or so 2000’s vehicles I saw. Not sure why you’d add those in this particular model. But great work!
Damn!!!!! U did a hell of a good job so far your layout is the best I've seen love every detail you put on it
I don't understand why somebody would give this a thumbs down I really don't
why not?
timberlan: Out of jealousy.
Cory Dork: Because they can't appreciate just how much work has gone into this model RR. Some people, you know the type, are too dumb to realize that. Do you know what I mean?
And just where is the cab ride, they are usually views from inside the cab looking forward
Wow, great ride, the most realistic i've see. wonderful cityscape. For me, the only thing missing would be a streetcar line, well nothings perfect, but this is close. A lot of hard work there, fer sur........
The perfect railroad model!!!!
This video is sweet. You did a really nice job.
great shots
Call this model railroading & you will come up short of descriptive adjectives. This is 3 dimensional, ultra detailed reality of it's own time and place.
What an awesome layout!!,
This is more like a miniature movie set than a mere "layout". 1:45 UP 7529 is my recurring road rage nightmare.
Verry realistic weathering
Saw this layout in an issue of Model Railroader. I think it was around 2004 or 2005.
Like how you've developed it!
Sweet layout
What a great layout. The detail is amazing. The camera work is perfect. I saw subway cars in the yard. Is there any subway activity on the layout? Thank you for sharing your work.
This is a model railroad? I thought it was REAL until I noticed the people weren't moving!
The only word is WOW!
Serious $ here. This isn't a hobby but a passion. I can say without hesitation that this layout cost twice what my house cost.
WOW BEST HO SCALE IN THE WORLD
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. :)

There's got to be an apartment for rent somewhere in that city. When can I move in?
I want to move to this town... have you seen the alcohol supply they have in stock at the beginning... over on the right :)
@ 0:35 That's a LOT of liquor at a train club LOL
This is 100% my inspiration for my layout I am about to build. This is it! I just wish I could get a copy of the layout to work with. I suppose Vic doesn’t email these out by chance?

OOOOOOPS the Handrail on the Lead UP GE! :-) Great video tho!
Like many other comments, this is a beautifully crafted and detailed layout! Is it available for public viewing and if so, where is it located?
Pretty amazing.
i want the mna 6527 so bad. it was the first engine my dad ever ran
Awesome layout. What is the scale size of the cars n buses.
SMH Unbelievable/ Absolutely amazing... /Stunning (!!!!)
