hi Chiefpep, thanks for the great explanation.i was wondering how you determine whic position to place the the shift drum so that the fork pins have the maximum range of movement in their respective tracks.
I can't remember. I follow the Haynes workshop manual step by step. The position of the bezzel wich is the neutral indicator is an important one for the postioning if I remember right...
Hello chiefpep I've been working on my xv750 I had a small Crack on the left side of my crankcase. I've been swapping all the parts of my bike to the new donor case but I can not figure out how to get the transmission/gearbox bearings out. Any advice?
Yes, make it really, really hot with a heat gun. Then use a bearing puller. They come out easy that way. If you don't have a bearing puller, just heat is up as much as you can en tap them out with a screwdriver or anything. The heating process is the only way.
@@chiefpepdesign just bought the bike. Couldn't get the clutch to disengage. Found im missing the spring on the clutch adjustment linkage. I have both covers off. When my bolts are loose I can see it move the cover but when they're tight it's bad. I'll post a video now if you'll watch it
Thanks a lot for this video , i'll restore my 535 engine and your video's will help me. great job !

@@chiefpepdesign thank you so much!
could I used a xv750 or 525 manual for a 250?
The Haynes Virago manual covers Yamaha XV (Virago) V-Twins: 535cc, 699cc, 748cc, 920cc, 981cc and 1063 for 1981 to 2003
I am having trouble with my 82 xv750 virago clutch. My pushrod isn't activating my clutch to allow rolling in gear. Or taking off
Did you open your clutch housing or worked on it? Or did this happen all of a sudden?

The video's I have are on my channel. And basically all the parts should be there? I don't really understand which parts you miss.
