Thanks for the video, very helpful to watch in anticipation for my own xv750 head/valve refresh. Where did you find your gasket kit?

Hey man, I use the NE brand gasket kit (got it from eBay). There are two different kits that they make...the ~$50 usd one doesn’t include the little orange orings for if the case is split or 4 of the gaskets for the tensioner and false covers that are needed, but has all of the others needed for everything else. The complete kit has every gasket needed for a full rebuild, but is about $70 usd...it is designated as the xv750GS kit. If you google “xv750 gasket kit” they should pop up in the pictures available from eBay. I’ve never had a problem with the white colored head gaskets being too thick from them like I did from another brand. Too thick of head gasket will cause the seal that goes around where the timing chain comes up to the head to not seal off and oil will leak from under the head. Hope this helps 👍. Steve

how to remove the guide from the head

Hey man ! I’ve actually never tried to remove the valve guides from the head since I don’t think replacements are even available. If the guides are worn, it would be from oil starvation to the head so at that point I would say the rockers, cams, and cam bushings would all be bad so I would probably just replace the head completely with one from another motor that was in better shape. I’ve not had an issue with worn valve guides so far on the 4 Viragos and countless motors I’ve rebuilt so I think the guides last a long time (unless there’s a lack of oil that damaged them).
