hello! I love this because I love how braids look and I really do appreciate all the time and technique that goes into them! I am white and I did my hair into 10 braids once, no synthetic hair added, and I was told by many people at my school that I was being "racist" for doing my hair that way. so I really appreciate this, because I did not think doing my own hair in braids was "racist".
Everyone can do braids but should be respectful at all times. Thanks for the love ! But I need to say that if we are still trying to keep segregated people then our world won’t change , people you need to stop looking and everybody’s ethnicity and judging them for whatever they are . And if you don’t agree with my comment is ok but don’t spread that’s hate people dot need hate .
@@alextroy9202 like she said, it's a very gray area. For example, I have a Mexican friend that does braids, 100% latina BUT she has thought curly hair and does braids as a protective hairstyle to give her Maine a rest. She's not black but has natural hair AND she never got into doing braids because it is "trendy" or "stylish" a hair stylist recommended it to her and it worked. I think everyone can do it but I do get mad when people don't see the meaning behind it and just do it for an Instagram picture.
I feel like when it comes to latinos/hispanics braiding their hair there's a lot of gray area. Not all latinos are the same, I feel like it really comes down to your hair (if it's curly/kinky or not) and the respect you have for Black culture. I feel it's one thing braiding straight hair and then it's another to be braiding curly/kinky hair. Not to forget that afro latinos are a thing, some areas of Latin America have more African influence than others due to slavery and colonization. There is also a cultural intersect. Having 3c hair, I have wanted to do braids because I love the hairstyle and sometimes I just want a break from my hair but it's something that I haven't felt comfortable doing. I feel like as long as it's done respectfully and with historical and cultural knowledge, to each their own.
Esiri Eya'ufe ok. What race are u guys den? Btw I’m asking because I don’t know not trying to be rude cause I know ppl will c this and try to @ me I just don’t know and is interested in finding out
I get box braids done and I'm Latina...that being said I'm an Afro Latina from the Dominican and get confused for African all the time 😅 lol I would say just make sure to be respectful, give credit to the culture when people ask, and don't pull a Kardashian and call the braids by the wrong name giving credit to someone else 🤦🏾♀️
@@jenjen-127 Well I could identify as black, I identify myself as half black from my dad's side (Dominican) but my mom is white (Salvadoran) I am all Latina, but half black. I recognize my roots and the Africans that were brought to the Caribbean is part of my ancestry and I celebrate that which I why I wear faux locs, box braids, corn rows and always make sure to let my fellow brothers and sisters know the history and the beauty behind these hair styles But no you may not touch my hair 😂😂
@@Beckscepeda You do know the Dominican republic and many other South American countries were created with Africans that were brought there during the Atlantic Slave trade right? You most likely have Africa in your blood and you should be proud of that. For the most part Latin America is compromised of African and Spanish/European culture. Hence why you have whiter skinned people there and dark skinned people there.
I was expecting to see a heated debate in the comments but i'm happy to see that most people agree for the culture appropriation thing... Personnaly, i'm.a white girl and i've been thinking about box braids to protect my curls, and honestly, as much as I wish it would'nt hurt anybody's feeling, I know my intentions, I know my goal is not to appropriate anything from.anyone or to disrespect anyone, so I would hope for the best and do it anyway... This is my hair, on my head and I would do it for myself and not against anybody... I found it sad that some people always try to see bad intentions everywhere.... 🤷
I think you should go for the braids as you have a reason to wear them! Personally, as a POC in an extremely white area, I think being educated is really important when it comes to these things. What I disagree w, however, is when ppl in general wear an ethnic hairstyle for "trend" purposes or mislabel the hairstyle bc they don't know anything abt it, eg: I once heard girls talking about having more than three plaits/ normal braids in their hair and calling them dreadlocks
Also to prevent reactions to the synthetic hair, soak the hair (the parts that touch the scalp) in warm water and apple cider vinegar for 20 minutes. It will remove the alkaline layer on the braiding hair. You may not be allergic to the hair itself but the alkaline.
Is it just me that when you see someone scratching their head it makes yours itch also?? When Bianca was scratching her head I suddenly scratched mine too🤦🏽♀️😂
I think it's TOTALLY fine. Because lots of black people get box braids, DOES NOT mean that white people can't have. I've seen white people get box braids and I DID NOT feel weird AT ALL! Screenshot this and send this to someone who wants to or is going to get box braids. PLZ. I'm latina and I would get them. I have absolutely NO problem whatsoever. #stopthehate #don'tberacist. This absolute racial discrimination if you think that this. Is. Wrong. Well, to me at least. Good day to you, sir. Period.
Everyone can do braids. I’m mixed but I look more white (with black features) I rock box braids tho! I love them. I got ombré blond braids if anyone is wondering
Taylor Bosik I’m mixed race too but look really pale and I don’t have many black features. Most people assume I’m white and I’ve just got box braids done for the first time. I’m nervous to go to school because I feel like a lot of black people will judge me...
I can appreciate this so much, I’m mixed Afro-Latina and white, and my skin tone *varies* throughout the year depending on how much sun I get, from olive with no light to caramel deep in the summer. My body shape, my bone structure, even the baby hairs (and random sections mixed in with different textures and tightness of curls throughout my hair) all show my Afro-Caribbean heritage…but bc I also have some very fine and straight/wavy hairs mixed in, and light skin…I’m left doing……..🤷🏽♀️ I don’t even know. Faux locs are the only thing I *like* the way the look and can manage taking care of/styling. I just wanna be able to wake up and not fight every section of my hair. I’m sorry, world, that my mixed doesn’t look how you want it to…but damn, what am I supposed to do about that?
I say as a proud Afro Latina, we are also made with the same blood we are all African because we are just like a mixed person, we are European, African and Indigenous. I say YAY to the braids!!!
Who else wants to see Bianca Renee merch?! I love braiding my daughter's hair in the summer, protecting her hair from the elements. It is a process on Sunday to do, but I can normally get it to last a week. I loved seeing this process!
@@BiancaReneeToday I mean your challenges are so epic and have changed so many lives, I feel like something to do with those. I survived a Bianca Renee challenge and my curls thank me for it? I would totally rock curl friends swag!
I had my braids in for two months and had waaay less hair shedding when I was taking out my braids. I did protein treatments and deep conditioned every week end to prevent all that shedding. You should try that next time you do braids
If I ever get braids, I want to do so with a black run business and ask them first if they are okay with doing it to a white girl’s hair. As a white curly/wavy girl I definitely want to protect my curls in ways that is not always a head covering (I am also religious, lol) but at the same time I acknowledge the hardships that blacks in the past and present have to struggle with concerning their natural hair and culture surrounding it. Braids in general are part of cultures across the globe and in every race, but box braids especially are part of Afro culture. I have done Celtic and Viking braids before but do not offer the same protection that box braids do; still, I don’t want to overstep boundaries if I don’t have to. If someone of another ethnicity can benefit from box braids like me, I definitely think they should be able to do so, but they should do so respectfully. Just as I think a black person should be respectful of anything cross cultural that they want to try out. At the end of the day, it should be done as cultural appreciation, not appropriation.
i totally agree, as a latina, i have plenty of cultural things that i would love to share with other as long as they respect the history of it, so i feel like braids would be the same situation, but getting them done by someone of colour or at a black run business is definitely a step in the right direction
I think people should be able to choose their hairstyle. I believe that there is evidence of braids being worn by different cultures thru history. It would not be a bad idea to do research so cultures can have the recognition they deserve. 💜💜
I agree all the way we should never judge on people ethnicity it is not how we are told in today’s society. We should respect everyone on what people do with their OWN hair. I wouldn’t mind personally because I think everyone is pretty in every way 💞
Tamara Baez I’m fr Jamaican and I have a cousin who has blond straight. Hair and he isn’t white I guess that’s some white gene fr slavery days idk. Just like me I’m light skin with curly 3b hair and I’m fully black both parents are black
@@melissaashley1896 you don't have to have European genes to be light skinned or to have blonde hair. Research the tribe that has blonde hair that were never invaded by Europeans!!
This video was very helpful. I’m taking down my first braids ever in a few hours. You showed me that my detangling session might go slower than usual but to keep at it.
everyone can do braids. HOWEVER some people's hair types are more likely to be damaged by long times in braids. the biggest reason I've seen for people getting mad that other ethnicities are getting braids comes from certain people's praise of those ethnicity and dragging of the blacks with this style (calling the blacks ghetto and the others gorgeous or amazing or innovative)
I am Hispanic and I have curly hair, I get braids when I need to keep myself from straightening my hair. I say if you have curly hair, go for it. If you have straight hair, be cautious because depending on the texture you can damage your hair
I'm Italian and white and when I was younger my best friend that is mixed braided my hair all the time.. It really shouldn't matter these days about what color someone is..
jennifer crouse I’m Italian and white and my cousin is biracial. When I was little she would braid my hair, with beads at the end, and I loved them. Braids remind me of her and our special relationship. I love and appreciate women/men who rock the braids! I haven’t had them since I was a kid, but that experience has given me respect and appreciation for braids! ❤️
Omg, I’m so glad seeing this positive comments about other races (I am Latina 🇻🇪) getting these braids. When I was little I used to get those normal braids at the beach, now that I am older I’m dying to get these box braids😩😍
To the curlfriend that wants braid but is afraid of he backlash. This is very tricky but for me personally cultural appropriation is two factors: 1) Not respecting the race it stemmed from. 2) If you where them it’s cute but if a black woman wears them its ghetto. If you aren’t anti-black and you at least acknowledge and defend that is beautiful if you a hispanic woman or black women. I feel people unrealistically label everything cultural appropriation. I do think people of other races have to be aware of the aspects that can make it cultural appropriation. Like as you stated, Bianca, it was needed. We were ridiculed for centuries. So it’s more than hair for us. And tbh, I’M not going to beat your ass but be aware. Edit: Detangle after each braid if in for 4 + weeks, got it 👍🏾
taNEETS so here’s the thing I’m mixed Hispanic and white and I would love to get box braids and I think that they would be really pretty but the issue is I would never want to have something seen as when I wear it it’s cute but when someone black wears it it’s not. So I’m scared to get them because I’m not even fully Hispanic and my hair is curly but not super super curly and I know that not everyone would be okay with it and I wouldn’t ever want to offend people so I don’t really know what to do.
Lizzterz 1 Sorry for the super late reply but honestly I feel if you know yourself as a person and that you wouldn’t criticize black women for wearing them than it’s fine. Also since you would have a more powerful voice doing so remind whether its your own race or non Hispanics that they don’t have the right to criticize black people for this style you are good. I don’t want it to feel you have to keep using your voice but since you are more likely to be listened to this when your voice would matter the most.
Im a very white Hispanic with type 3b/3c hair and currently transitioning from a relaxer. I did braids on myself 2 weeks ago and was hesitant. I very much love them and haven’t gotten negative comments. That’s without me telling someone it’s for protective purposes. Comes to show, people don’t care. You just gotta know how to carry yourself accordingly.
I am a half white/half Mexican woman and I get faux locs/yarn locs however you want to call them. I absolutely love them and feel that as long as I’m not like ‘oh yah I came up with this style all on my own’ I’m not stealing the style from another culture. I love this style and don’t see myself changing it anytime soon.
I'm a 45 year old white woman who worked in legal profession in Dallas TX. When I was 31 I got tiny braids with extensions by an Eritrean woman whose child participated in the Sidewalk Sunday School program I volunteered with. I got them for a New York City missions trip & wore them for 6 weeks before they were falling out too much. I got absolutely no negative remarks even when I rode the city bus daily to go to work which included a few times in the County's Family Court. The more recent controversy dealing with only African Americans can wear braid has completely baffled me because my friends (all ethnicities) were quite supportive. I had no issues with my job (where I had expected to be told that it was inappropriate for court). I hope one day we can all just be human beings.
I love watching videos where ladies take their braids out, the wash routines but my favourite of all is the detangling videos. Oh my god they're satisfying to watch, especially when the hair is all detangled and the brush just glides through and the curls just bounce right back. Love those. Plus the braids look super pretty. Not to mention you guys are gorgeous as well!! You're very beautiful. I've seen comments of black women joke about getting biceps from all that hair care lol and yours look AMAAAAAZING!!! ❤️❤️But really liked this video. I wish someone would let me take out their braids especially those teeny tiny ones. 👍👍❤️❤️😁😁😁😁
Search up youtube videos to learn to cornrow. I am hispanic and white, I have 2c/3a hair as well as my IT sister. I can cornrow really cleanly and make small cornrows. It took me 7 hours to box braid my IT sister's hair, there were 49. It then took me 6 hours to take them out.If you are looking for a protective style for straight hair you could do a side braid or rap your hair in a satin scarf or bonnet. I love my satin bonnet!!!:D
i'm latina and i've grown up with people of colour and they taught me that as long as you know the history and you respect it, you can braid, cornroll or even put dreads in your hair
Wear a bonnet so your box braids last and oil your hair on the 1 month and 2 nd month only keep there hair for 2 ‘’months when taking down your hair cut wear your hair stops in the braid don’t don’t detangle dry make sure you use a oil or conditioner fingers detangle your hair first then comb and shampoo then deep conditioning and if you see your hair sheed after taking out box braid s or any proctvie hair styles it’s normal because we lose 50 to a 100 strans of hair
My thing is, if someone who isn’t black wants to get braids, they should be prepared for their hair to be tangled, extremely oily, or falling out bc the style isn’t meant for their hair type. Dirt and oil travels quicker down their hair shaft than ours so... good luck to them trying to keep them in for longer than like a week and a half to two weeks
i can’t say much about braids bc i’m a white person but i did braids on my hair and i absolutely loved them! it was very comfortable and easy to whip up a quick hairstyle i did them my self but didn’t do the best job at it would definitely get it professionally done. i would very much recommend! i will definitely have braids in my hair more!
Heyyy!! An awesome video on my actual birthday!! Yesterday was crazy but now I can finally deep condition, sit, and drink coffee with a Bianca video ☺☕
Now I can watch you again 😂 don't take me wrong but your real hair is soooo beautiful that I didn't understand but it is your hair so... Welcome back ❤👍👍 your curls look AMAZING beautiful. I'm tender headed I had them done once in my 42 years of life and I took them off in 2 days!!!!😖😫 too painful
It happened to me last year when I got crotchet braids for the first time. 😩 I can’t remember exactly what brand it was (sorry 😭), but I only had the braids in for 3 DAYS. The itching is caused by the Alkaline coding that’s on the outside of the hair and you’re supposed to soak the hair in Apple Cider Vinegar before installation (which is honestly way to much work). Once I took them down my scalp was physically red and painfully sore for days. The “itching” effect means your scalp is allergic too that specific hair. Apparently it’s only irritating for some people because my sister ended up re-using the hair and thankfully she wasn’t allergic to it.
Thank you for addressing the cultural appropriation issue! I’m white as they come and I have long ginger hair, and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to try a perm to get curls like yours, and box braids. I’ve asked lots of people, most say it’s just a hairstyle and I’d rock it, but some have said they’d be really offended because it’s their culture. I want to be respectful but I also want to have fun with my hair and try new styles! Your curls are AMAZING 😍
Lmaoo when she almost fell out her chair 😂😭😭 I LOVEEEE YOUUUU BIANCA YOU ARE AMAZING!! Such good vibes I literally watch you and put my TV on mute 🤷🏽♀️🤣
I got box braids for the first time and i did them myself im not gonna say they came out perfect but if you are doing them yourself add gel to your actual hair and a leave in conditioner my mistake wasnt putting as much as i should of I used sassy kanelekon hair and its really good. I also recommend for it to be easier on yourself to put leave in conditioner on the hair i know it sounds iffy but it works makes the braids slicker shinier and non-itchy and easier to braid.
I soaked my braiding hair in vinegar and water solution ,rinsed and air dried. I also purchased hair that stated it would not itch. HUGE difference noted way less itching.
Katoku Shika just so you know, if you have straight ( or looser curls) ur hair will get greasy, oily, really itchy, etc. The most likely won’t last long, and it’s a waste of money. Smh 🤦🏾♀️
Lainey Quinn I know that goddamn well, even if you're black, they get itchy. I have them for 2 months and I'm fine. I did them myself so I didn't spend any extra money. And it surely isn't a waste of money if it's a hairstyle that you like and want, smh 🤦🏻♀️
I think anyone can do it, I live in NYC and I saw everyone from African Americans, Hispanic and even white people tried braids... it looks dope. It's just a hairstyle and if you want to do it, then go for it. Of course, be respectful and explain why you like it!
I’m not black nor mixed but with the whole ethnicity thing I think that black and mixed people should be proud that people are inspired by their culture and that their ethnicity has come so far from when braids first started. Those are just my thoughts and opinions obviously and I of course am coming from a different viewpoint. Love your videos btw
I've been thinking about getting braids for years now. It used to be because I thought they were beautiful, which I still think that, but in the past 5 years I've done a lot of chemical damage to my hair and having them exposed to the elements isn't helping me at all. I've over bleached my hair in the past which has left my ends extremely brittle, I can tell from my roots that my hairs been growing but its just not getting any longer because it keeps breaking from all the damage I did in high school.
I don't see why anyone couldn't/shouldn't wear braids/cornrows/dreads. Different styles of braids were popular all across Europe(i.e. crown braids) in the Middle Ages, Greeks and other Mediterranean people wore dreadlocks along with Aztecs, and Polish people(which, if I remember correctly, is more so one large dreadlock). And of course, French braids are popular throughout history in a multitude of cultures(which, I get, the difference is the French braid isn't on the outside like cornrow braids, that has the braid line visible. But when I French braid my own hair, I can only do it in the cornrow style of braid, I have done this since I was very young). I honestly don't see the problem with anyone of any ancestry wearing dreads or cornrows/braids, if they think it is beautiful and it gives them confidence. Of course, if it is done out of mockery(akin to blackface) that is NOT ok. It was bound to happen how cultures mix and mesh, trading traditions. I don't get angry when people wear green, drink beer, and whatnot on St. Patrick's Day, even though I'm Irish. It just never occurred to me to be offended, or that I own the holiday, along with other Irish people. And heck, I am actually part African. 23 and Me revealed(if my mom and I calculated this right) my great-great-greatgrandmother was West Saharan. But my phenotype is extremely Scottish and Irish. And you made a great point, Bianca, that many people of color dye their hair blond. Many also wear blue/green contacts. Again, it never occurred to me to be offended. If someone truly enjoys a certain style, it isn't done out of malice and mockery, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to express themselves through their hairstyle however they like. I have always wanted to try DE dreads, but I have very tender scalp and am prone to headaches, so I don't know if that would be the best idea for me. But sometimes I do put my deathawk into four easy French braids going towards the back of my head. I just think it's pretty, I am not doing it out of malice. I truly do think if we celebrate other people embracing different cultures, that would make the world a better place.
I usually detangle before washing my hair and detangle my hair again while conditioning as well. Don't know if that'll make your routine after taking out braids better. Loved the video and the questions.
I've always LOVED braids! As a kid, I wanted a look like this (but all brunette), so my Mom took me to get my hair braided at a salon. I got five short braids for summer camp, which wasn't the look I wanted, but by the end of that week at camp, the entire cabin of girls I stayed with had braided hair. Braids, like curls, definitely create community! I don't know if I'll ever be brave enough to get real braids as a German-Irish-etc. woman (really, it's my cheap-ness that will probably win out, not my heritage 😂), but I do find them so beautiful! Thank you for sharing, Bianca!
Samantha Gould first of all u never should be getting braids when u were a kid. Your mom shouldn’t have taken u to that salon. Now that makes u have that idea that ur one of us now (African-American) If u wanted to get braids so badly u should’ve asked God to be black
@@avanwosu6926, no. God made me and you just as we are for a reason. He gave us passions and interests for a reason. He gave us both a purpose. I share stories and help others share stories as part of my purpose. I share a cute story from my childhood, so why are you attacking me based on my skin tone? My lack of melanin in my skin doesn't make me less beautiful or valuable or curious. It helps me be me. Isn't that what the curly community is about? Helping one another embrace their natural beauty, from waves to coils?
I’ve had braids done (Hispanic) by my roommate who had absolutely lovely braids and was really good at it. I personally loved them but I’m tender headed and could not handle them for more than a week. I feel like it’s your hair you do you. I wanted them because I thought and still do think that they are Gorgeous. I always admired her hair and so after much begging and pleading she did them for me. I think hair is personal and the decision should be made by the person not the race. Beauty comes in all races and I (me personally) love what different cultures do to make themselves feel good. Hugs 🤗
I’m a white male and I make and wear faux dreads. I feel if you understand the past and understand the meaning behind it all there’s no problem. I’ve worn braids. Genie locs. Faux locs are my favorite lol, but when asked by anyone I respectfully respond and that’s it it’s done.
I think everyone should be able to get braids as long as you acknowledge where it came from. Just like how black people will wear blonde hair or straight hair.
BLACK PEOPLE GET BLONDE HAIR!! BOOM! YUP you're right. lets stop calling people out for wanting to express themselves through different styles just love each other...
You say don't freak out ... that's exactly what I would do freak the freak OUT!!! But I would get over it. I'm still going to give braids or twists a try this summer. Thanks for the Q&A, verrry informative. It's you, it's really you, lol, Love your curls!!
I feel like anyone can do any style as long they are respectful for it and do their research on it to really know where did it came from and why it was done, and as long as you have the understanding and appreciation I don't see any problems with sharing styles with different people from different countries/ethnicities :)
Bianca I recently brought some new shampoo and conditioner call Argan oil from Morocco. It says it suppose to strengthen and restores your hair. It also Sulfates and Paraben free. Have you ever use this product and did you like it? And why is Sulfates and Parabens so bad for the hair ?
I honestly felt like it was wrong for other ethnicities to get braids but then you said that a lot of black people get blonde hair and then I thought, oh yeah that’s true, I never thought about that.
*OFF TOPIC* I know this is off topic, but the whole chat if full with curly girls so I'm hoping you can help me. I just got a perm 3 days ago, still afraid to wash it (probably gonna wait a week), but I wonder when can I get a hot oil treatment or a deep conditioner going on? I've seen some people say to stay away from those because they could loosen you your new pattern, other while others say to do it as soon as possible. I don't want to ruin my hair after all the pain, so if you know I would love if you could tell me! Also, I don't really have any product for chemically treated hair... I do have this corine de farm baby shampoo, it's sulfate and paraben and silicone free (I think it also doesn't have salt but I'm not sure), would you consider this okay to use on my hair? My deep conditioner is also silicone, paraben and salt free. Are these a safe choice for my hair? Or should I just go and buy myself new products? Last but not least. I decided to start styling my hair with flax seed gel (I'm out of money after getting the perm and can't afford other styles), if anyone here uses it, how do you do it? All I've seen on UA-cam is people slathering that thing on their hair but they never mention how to refresh your curls. Thank you gals
I think that if your hair can hold the braids, then it shouldn’t matter. Straight hair is more likely to frizz at the roots even if you take care of them properly. I’m Hispanic and white and I braid people’s hair as a hobby. Most people don’t have a problem with that because (not to brag) I’m pretty good at braiding.
I believe that everyone should be allowed to do whatever hairstyle they please my only concern is that these styles weren't originally invented for people with 1 or 2 type hair so I hope that these styles don't damage their hair
I agree with the comment when you said don’t braid the edges because last time I got box braids and the braider braided the edges and the braid literally fell out and my real hair came out with it. Luckily my edges grew back. But I definitely recommend to not get the edges braided. I love the video btw🥰💕
I feel like anyone can rock the hairstyle if they can respect were it comes from. This makes me think of weave or wigs. It originated with a certain ethnicity, but now all people wear it.
Interesting point
Personally, I don't care if other ethnicities get braids. If anything I encourage it! I think that cultural appropriation=/= cultural misapropriation and that we can only get over these racial divisions by appreciating the cool parts of all cultures:)

I never thought it could be disrespectful... I'm portuguese with 3c. Why would one not do it? Sorry, I don't understand...

I get box braids done and I'm Latina...that being said I'm an Afro Latina from the Dominican and get confused for African all the time 😅 lol
I would say just make sure to be respectful, give credit to the culture when people ask, and don't pull a Kardashian and call the braids by the wrong name giving credit to someone else 🤦🏾♀️

@@jenjen-127 Well I could identify as black, I identify myself as half black from my dad's side (Dominican) but my mom is white (Salvadoran) I am all Latina, but half black. I recognize my roots and the Africans that were brought to the Caribbean is part of my ancestry and I celebrate that which I why I wear faux locs, box braids, corn rows and always make sure to let my fellow brothers and sisters know the history and the beauty behind these hair styles
But no you may not touch my hair 😂😂
@@Beckscepeda You do know the Dominican republic and many other South American countries were created with Africans that were brought there during the Atlantic Slave trade right? You most likely have Africa in your blood and you should be proud of that. For the most part Latin America is compromised of African and Spanish/European culture. Hence why you have whiter skinned people there and dark skinned people there.

Then black people can only do brown & not blonde hair if white people can only do the minimum then so can black people
Shannon but black people can naturally have blonde hair as well... what’s ur point lmao
YES!!! Very true! Thank you for sharing this!!! 👏🏽👏🏽❤️

@@medussy7033 you will be fine! Im an albino and i were box braids. People say im white but i still were box braids. Dont worry!!
Idcidc what’s so funny

At the end of the day, it should be done as cultural appreciation, not appropriation.
i totally agree, as a latina, i have plenty of cultural things that i would love to share with other as long as they respect the history of it, so i feel like braids would be the same situation, but getting them done by someone of colour or at a black run business is definitely a step in the right direction

everyone can do braids.
I looove love love her natural hair
I am Hispanic and I have curly hair, I get braids when I need to keep myself from straightening my hair. I say if you have curly hair, go for it. If you have straight hair, be cautious because depending on the texture you can damage your hair
Exactly!
Great point! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️
If you have type 3 and especially type 4 hair go for it, but type 2 and 1 hair could be more risky
Edit: Detangle after each braid if in for 4 + weeks, got it 👍🏾
GREAT POINT! 👏🏽👏🏽
taNEETS so here’s the thing I’m mixed Hispanic and white and I would love to get box braids and I think that they would be really pretty but the issue is I would never want to have something seen as when I wear it it’s cute but when someone black wears it it’s not. So I’m scared to get them because I’m not even fully Hispanic and my hair is curly but not super super curly and I know that not everyone would be okay with it and I wouldn’t ever want to offend people so I don’t really know what to do.

The box braids well look so beautiful on your
Your so pretty

I was watching someone else’s video when the notification popped up , I said boop 🤣 & here I am ♥️
OOP!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You a real one! ❤️
I had box braids for less than 24 hours. I was not expecting them to be as heavy as they were. I couldn't hang with the weight of the excess hair.
I definitely had the same question about getting braids being white. I don't know what kind of protective styles I can do
I think you should get them.
I swear I didn’t know other people wanted to get protective styles..nothings wrong with it I just didn’t know.
@@SkyBorba If you can cornrow, why not? They are cute and protective!!!:D
just a note that protective styles that add hair can be damaging if you get them too often or too tight.

It is really bounding time when you do braids.. that's how I felt watching this video.
I enjoyed your talk 😊
Aww thank you!
Thank you for addressing the cultural appropriation issue! I’m white as they come and I have long ginger hair, and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to try a perm to get curls like yours, and box braids. when i got my braids everyone was staring at me like i was an exotic animal so i humored them and made animal noises 😂😂😂

I’m getting box braids for the first time ever tomorrow, i’m excited 🤪
Oh those curls are so gorgeous I am jealous.

Braids are 🔥 period! No matter who wears them! 😎
I agree with the comment when you said don’t braid the edges because last time I got box braids and the braider braided the edges and the braid literally fell out and my real hair came out with it. Luckily my edges grew back. But I definitely recommend to not get the edges braided. I love the video btw🥰💕
Oh snaps!! 🤭 Glad they came back!
