Hey everyone! The link has been added to the description! Please use this tool at your own discretion! Make sure you back up yours saves and careful not to overwrite existing ones! Also as mentioned in the comments be careful where you edit rail as clipping into terrain and existing structures can occur!
I'm pretty sure you can snap bedding to rails which creates the sunken track effect. So it's not actually that hard to do. Just place bedding, then track, delete bedding, snap new bedding to track. Also you definitely missed a little bit of track on the last curve, you could see betsy fall down a tiny bit.
Dapper, you could save yourself A LOT of time and headache by deleting the track you want to work on BEFORE you upload it to minizwerg. Simply pick the sections of track you want to keep as the ends of each side and delete everything in between. Then on minizwerg, all you have to do is click on the two end track pieces and then let it build the empty space. This way you don't have to go back into your save and delete all of the old track
Actually, if you start the ground work on existing track by setting the start with the arrow on top of a tie, it sets the level of the groundwork to the height shown in the video - the equivalent of about an inch below the tie tops. It's much more realistic looking. When they lay track, they lay the bedding, lay the ties and rail on top, AND THEN they backfill the "ballast" between the ties up to just under the tops of the ties. This stabilizes the ties and prevents the track from shifting sideways. The drawback to the more realistic looking ballast is that it's a pain if you want to add turnouts or even just smooth out a section of curve later, which means deleting the realistic ballast and laying new bedding that's at the bottom level of the ties for the new track. It can be done with a couple of grade adjustment tricks, but that's the part that's a bit "fiddly".
It's more realistic for standard gauge and more modern track, but brand new narrow gauge and tracks built during the 1870's - 90's didn't have ballast up to the ties, the ties were laid right on top of the roadbed and the rail placed on top...so for the purposes of this game, it's more realistic the way it is done.
@@zaklex3165 I invite you to search "historical photos of narrow gauge railroads" You may find one or two images either of the rails as they were being laid, or shot lines used to transport ore out of mines to staging areas. A rail on ties or "sleepers" (as they call them in England and Australia) would move side to side under the weight of the train as it rolls over them, especially on a curve, if they are not stabilized. Imagine trying to push an elephant to turn a different direction and you have flat wooden shoes standing on loose gravel. Your feet experience the same outward force the rails experience. This is a fact of physics that applied to 1800s rails as much as it applies to modern rails.
@@3DPDK I've seen plenty of photos of the D&RG(D&RGW) being constructed and I don't recall any of them being imbedded in the ground work, now they may have gone along after construction and done so, but for newly constructed it was speed over function, get the track down as fast as you can and worry about stability afterwards and then it would've been the bare minimum to keep the line from shifting completely out of position...costs after all.
I have one long strait section of rail that has sunken ties. At first I couldn't figure how it got that way and just went with it. Eventually I remembered it was when I re-laid the foundation for that bit to make it straighter.
The tree tool only replants trees, so you first have to clear out trees, then you can replant them and the tool will keep the trees at the given distance. I also thought it will replant every tree, but it works only with the already removed ones.
sinking the track can be made easy by placing groundwork, placing track, deleting groundwork then replacing groundwork by starting groundwork on a track link. this will get your groundwork started at the correct height. love your video's buddy, you've taught me a lot :)
This tool is great and such, but be careful. When planning this out you need to be mindful of the terrain and structures before hand. Minizwerg doesn’t show it as best as it can, and at 21:29, you may have a clearance issue with bigger engines. BUT all engines are not wider than the wooden Ties underneath the rails. So if they aren’t clipping anything, you are fine
I think the old track in that straight section is underneath the new track that minizwerg laid. You set the height to 1 which is a little higher than your original tracks. Those tracks were pretty straight to begin with, so they're probably buried under the new sections.
I tend to delete most of my old track minus a couple bits to select from before I upload it to the website so I dont have to worry about carefully deleting the old stuff after.
Zwerg in German means “gnome”, so minizwerg means minignome 🤣😂 Usually in Europe, gnomes are a common theme in garden miniature railroads, so it would kinda make sense 😇
Dapper I did exactly what you did to upload a map with a * next to it and when I tried to open it up I got the opening black screen with the music and waited for the little orange round dots to start turning and generate to start the game it never started to turn? What is up with that! could you or somebody please help me? Do I have to upload my pathetic little map before I can use somebody else's map?
So we can download maps online that people have made and play in them as if we boult the railways? I was asking because mine came out really bad and I'm sure people out their are better than me building.
I'm interested in this game now you and your buddy playing it I've been watching you guys for a while also Betsy is moving side to side on that edited track like it's bouncing off the inner rails
Been using ROE tool for cleaning up a lot of my tracks for a couple weeks now. Wish the build tool in it was actually built into the game. Edit: Meant to mention, you don't need to put a password in if you set max player count to 1(it defaults to 32) if you know you're the only person that's going to be on the map.
You can get to your RRO saves quicker by using the following in the run dialog (include the quotation marks if your username has spaces): "%LOCALAPPDATA\arr\Saved\SaveGames" Also, game audio was a little too loud compared to your mic.
I would like you to make a days of the year marble race in Marble World. So... i upload a new map with a few rails to connect, and when i download and renamed in a free slot save dont work 😑
@@Madalin-Ionut make sure you are using correct formatting when you rename it. No capital letters and no spaces etc. And you can only go up to slot10
You think your doing to upload a map of yours for everyone to download sometime for us?

A parallel track would be cool to see. The sunken track looks so good!
I did that but it’s very hard trust meeee
you mean double line because my entire track is a double track its awesome
good job on the video, looks like it’s doing great!
This doesn't seem to work anymore.

Love the content Dapper... keep up the great work!! This video really helps me understand how to work with the track editor.
Nice video im a Big fan and hope you Will do more
That tiny lip you missed at 20:05 will propably derail you going the other way. Hopefully you notice it before going over it with full load.
I did derail going the other way hahaha
Cornery start is when you trying to start from standstill on a corner, its a harder pull than if it was on straight
Tbh the foundation where suppose to put the bridge looks cool .
I have seen lot of those in my country

this tool is a god send.thanks for the upload dapper

Tfw you see %appdata% and all your minecraft modding memories come back
This is great Dapper. Packed with useful info. Stuff I've been needing. This is really gonna help. Thank you.
wow so this is done now by the tool lol iv been doing everything by hand way before it was even made, nice to see this will help the community
Protip: %localappdata% will take you to the Local folder instead of the Roaming folder 😁👍
i couldn't find mine without this i checked the arr without this and got a different folder that had no savegames folder thanks
The sunken in portions that are overgrown look alot like british narrow gauge railway
Oh my GOD thank you so much for this.... you've earned my sub
I did get the Tree tool to work
I can't wait for the re-inspection!!

I've just got this game and can't wait to get into it.
Tbh tour route to the logging camp is actually really smart

Im not geting the curves and straights option. Any help?
20:50 You missed a duplicate rail there. Betsy did a small rail down-step there after you rolled!
what the heck i just tried to use the editor to fix the straights and it doesnt work just keeps giving me errors
I'm interested in this game now you and your buddy playing it I've been watching you guys for a while also Betsy is moving side to side on that edited track like it's bouncing off the inner rails
I love railroad online and I’d love to join you
Instead of using %appdata% you can access the folder with %localappdata%\arr
Double track?
I do not see curves and straights on mine..
Thanks for the info xx
Dapper, your next project is to build a yard based off of this track laying tool and stack it up with Kan's work

I definitely did had a nice off camera derail there on the way back lol
