This is exactly what I was thinking! I just purchased a 2024 trailer and don't want to deal with the lap sealant issues from UV. I've only had it about a week but I'm going to put this stuff on top of everything to help protect the lap sealant from the Sun and adding an layer of waterproofing on top of that.

I did it with my 2017 coleman now the 2021 wildwood lite. Love it. Great security for piece of mine. When you pay $24,000 for a rv $500 is nothing. In the winter I have a cover for it. I live in a temporal rainforest in Southeast Alaska called the Tongass National Rainforest; we get an average of 13 feet of rain per year. I can't wait to try this Eternabond on my RV roof; for me, water protection is THE most important thing. I live on an island so I will be spending most of my time here because putting the RV on a barge or ferry gets expensive.

I did the roof on my last trailer 20 years ago. It's still holding up well and looks great. I ended up using Hengs on the rest of the EPDM roof, which also has worked well for over 5 years now. Prepping with acetone caused the glue under the EPDM to let go. When I do my new trailer, I will steer clear of it.

I did mine on my 2021 Wild River. The roof was in great shape and wanted to keep it that way. After i taped everthing i plan on using Henry's tropical sealant to finish the whole roof in white. We plan on being snowbirds next winter and heading to Florida so not taking any chances. I don't want to spen fixing i want to enjoy our new camper. Great video. I watch you as well as the other person you recommend. Both of you have great videos. Also i watch Jerry also with i love rv life. Like the different approaches you 3 give. Keep up the good work. PS: On the fixures as i call them as i inspect i use 303 protectant for UV protection and seems to be working well. Also my tires they look like new. 3yrs so far. Got the idea from Jerry. I spray the tires once a month takes less then 10 minutes. All the rubber on doors slides etc. Works great.

I applied Eternabond to all my roof and slide seams 12 years ago. It’s still sealed like the day I installed it. I had a leak on my slide from day one that the dealer would dump lap sealer on and it would start to leak again after 6 months. The prep was a lot of work and you have to pay attention to the install.

Thx for this video, I have an older RV and have had great success using Henry’s “Tropicool” to cover most of my Fiberglas roof, but I was curious about using this tape on many of my seams to complete the job. Many of the RV channels say not to use this, but I was wondering why not. It seems that the proper preparation is key to a successful result.

First thunderstorm and we had water dripping on us while we were asleep! I did use some Flex Seal liquid sealant and it seems to be working. However, I'm going to put this on top of it to be on the safe side. Plus, it's a good idea to bring with you on a camping trip if you need it. Thanks for posting a great, informative video!!

He even did a two year review of his roof with eterna bond and still looks good! My class C is two years old and sealant looks good but I’m leaning on eterna bond up there. I don’t see any cons with it. If you had to replace a skylight you’d still have to use a plastic scraper just to get a ton of lap sealant off so no big deal.

I rejuvenated my 97 Tiffin Allegro EDPM rubber roof this spring, and this (using Eternabond) is very similar to what I did at each and every roof penetration point. That said, I went one step further and coated the entire roof with Henry Tropicool silicone. At 26 years old, my EDPM had seen better days. While it still had *some* life left and I have seen WAY worse roofs, I decided that it was time to not chase little leaks again. I removed ALL the old sealant/caulking, and all trim. While I left the AC, shower dome, and refer vents on, I did take the opportunity to replace the old ceiling fan vents with new MaxxAir versions....esp since this was (hopefully) the last time I'd be doing any real roof work. After installing the new vents, I used Eternabond on EVERY penetration point, including over the front/rear fiberglass cap trim pieces. Following that, I taped off where I didn't want silicone and rolled it on. After two coats, the roof looks new with Henry's lifetime warranty.
If you have time and an extra $400, I highly recommend Henry Tropicool over that Eternabond.

I was literally going to ask about this. I really appreciate your comment! We just purchased our first RV, and it being a 2004, it’s due for some modernization, as well as a fresh sealing on the roof (thankfully, still no leaks). The previous owners took very good care of it, but now it’s time for a bit of refurbishing. I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out exactly what to seal it with, and was thinking I had to pick only one product, but thank you again for this!

    • @jeffreymissal
      @jeffreymissal 10 місяців тому +2

@@justinbond558 Just make sure you do do the butyl tape and eternabond BEFORE you Tropicool because they WILL NOT adhere correctly to silicone based coatings. And, for added measure, if you caulk like I did after the Tropicool (or similar), make sure you use a silicone-based caulk.
The hardest part (for me) was getting under the AC units...everything else is accessible...I just didn't want to go through the pain of R&R. That part of the EDPM doesn't get any sun or much water anyway, so I think I'm safe.

Have a RPod which has one piece fiberglass roof that runs all the way from front to back. The point of weakness as far as water intrusions is the seams between the sidewalls and the roof. After replacing the crappy vinyl trim and the gazillion non galvanized screws that comes from the factory many in our community, including myself, cover those seams with Eternabond. Many have 5+ years on theirs with no signs of degradation.

If there is tape it can be removed similar but new installation will be much flatter , smoother and more professional. imo.

Hi there, thanks for sharing. What’s made of your RV roof? Fibreglass, EPDM , PVC? Did you use primer before you coating? Thanks for your input.

My roof is a TPO as standard on most Grand Design RVs. I did not use a primer I just took time to clean the areas well before laying down the tape. 👍🏼

This I do not know. Sounds like a bigger issue at hand, not sure how the water is getting in the condenser? Did you try tightening the four bolts from inside the rv ac unit that hold it down to the roof?

What are your thoughts on putting Henry’s Silicone roof coating on top of the tape? Would you consider doing that as extra protection?

I had a divider net for my old suv and I installed some d rings to split the camp side pf basement. This hold all my camp chairs off to one side and leaves the other side open for other stuff
