My observation is that the turn signal should have been (briefly) on as you were entering the turn lane but then it should have turned off so as to not indicate that you were going to turn into any of the 3 driveways you passed. The truck driver very likely thought you were going to turn into the Shell station. I know that is a bad assumption on the part of the truck driver but in my experience, I don't recommend signaling unless / until you are going to turn. In this scenario, immediately after the Shell driveway.
The fact that fsd handled the bad driver situation without a problem means that a honk was unnecessary. You would have honked not for safety reasons but to express your dissatisfaction.
I can easily assume that the truck assumed you were turning into the plaza. If I were to drive, I won't put up blinker that early, because I know it has a high chance to confuse other drivers, and I'm not taking those chances.
You are exactly right. The early signal might have prompted the other driver to assume the Tesla was turning in where he was coming out. In any event, there was no reckless driver in the video, unless you mean the Tesla.
Yes! This got me wondering if Tesla will account for this type of situation in the future. It would be better if FSD turned on its signal after passing the exit. That way there is no confusion.
@@DriveElectricToday On AI DRIVER's video from December 4, 2025, there's an example where the turn signal appropriately comes on after the intersection where it used to come on too early before. In your scenario the signal needed to be turned off briefly between the lane change and turn. Only a matter of time until it's perfected.
This is very common in Canada. If there are driveways or entrances just before a turn or signal light, you aren’t supposed to put the signal on prior to passing all exits aside from your desired turn.
Agreed! I have been wondering whether FSD will consider this type of the situation in the future or not. It would be awesome to see them incorporate code to enable the blinker only after passing the exit/entrance.
You never turn until you fully know their intentions. As a tow truck operator have seen enough crashes where someone assumed they were turning or even changed their mind last minute. Its safer to wait at the end of the day.
Compared to older versions of FSD that was a really quick 1 second reaction time to brake smoothly to the truck pulling out. Really impressed with how fast it's able to recognize these types of issues now.
Nice to see v13 is much better at handling roundabouts. We have one with a similar setup here where the outer lane can go right or through, but FSD v12 on my HW3 Model 3 would always assume it was a right-only lane, and would try and change lanes in the middle of the roundabout.
First time I ever seen your video, I love the head cam. Other FSD videos I've seen always have the cam stuck to the glass which in my opinion lacks in terms of feeling the road. In your video I could see how it actually looks like from the driver seat, which is great, gives a good bit more insight how the car actually feels/behaves. Subscribed for more!
I am very timid when it comes to honking the horn cause I don't want someone going into a rage and shooting me in the face. Not sure I will like the honking horn auto feature.
I believe Tesla should feed the road laws of the countries , provinces or states but use that as a base reference and adapt to the behavior of the traffic around them. It should know that a no u turn sign is there for a reason. It should know not to enter a do not enter sign
If you were actually about to hit the car, then sure, of course honk your horn. Clearly your car was aware of the car in front pulling out, and subsequently slowed down appropriately. It wasn't exactly an emergency. No reason to honk your horn in that case, other than just being angry.
I'm afraid it's not the other car's fault. FSD has the error of signalling too early. I've seen it in multiple other drives where it signals early and the possibility is there to confuse other road users.
turn signals should be on a quarter a head of turn. This is to warn drivers behind you that your intent is to turn. By doing this action you have a higher chance of not getting rear ended. As far as the trucker goes. Driver saw the blinker on, usually a good indicator you are going to slow down. The other traffic saw what his intentions were and politely let the driver proceed.
I have only tried the 30 day free FSD trials in the past and did not like how that version 12.5.6 handled going through neighborhood streets. Question: How well does 13.2.2 handle neighborhood driving when there are 2 vehicles parked side by side on both sides of the street and an approaching car is coming at us to meet us exactly where the 2 parked vehicles are and there is only restricted room for 2 cars to meet each other. I had to disengage the FSD every time I met a car in this situation. Did not trust FSD to slow down or stop and wait for other car to go through the parked cars. What is your feeling about this kind of move now with FSD???? I drive through allot of Neighborhoods daily, so I felt FSD is not worth it with 12.5.6.
@@dathyr1 I completely understand the hesitation regarding the older versions of FSD. I, too, had my reservations with FSD when I first got my 30 day free trial. Then, as time went on, and I tried version V12.5.4.2 - I was sold. I do most of my FSD driving in neighborhood/suburban areas as well (probably 95% of my driving is done in the suburbs), and I can’t say enough good things about it, especially with V13! I can’t speak specifically on the situation you described above, as I don’t have those types of routes/road traffic here. However, I can assure you that V13 is extremely capable of anticipating traffic flow and maneuvering around complex situations. I would definitely give it another shot if I were you! @@DriveElectricToday Ah, Thank you very much for your information on the newer versions of FSD. If Tesla does another free trial with a version 13.x.x, I will see if it works for my daily driving. One last question, can we use the new FSD to enable it and back out of a home garage and onto the street? Just curious. Take care.
@ You absolutely can! With V13, I have tested the functionality of backing out of my home garage using FSD, and it works flawlessly. I’ll be sitting in my garage, add my destination to the GPS, and finally enable FSD from park. This will back out of your garage, traverse your driveway, and go about its way all on its own. I had the same issues with 12.5.6, at times, but I had 13.2.1 and now 13.2.2, 100% resolved! It does pull out of my 2 car garage with my wife's car next to me and it's very tight to back out with the way the side walls of the garage come in for the garage door and no issues.
