Lady Calloway has such an amazing voice and this song is just amazing, the lyrics remind me of a very important person that came to me in my life, I have to be strong from now on..
Susan Calloway is absolutely stunning, and her voice is phenomenal! :D I'm a singer myself, and I'd LOVE to have even a smidgen of her technique. Beautiful legato!
Alone for a while, I've been searching through the dark For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart To weave by picking up the pieces that remain Melodies of life, love's lost refrain Our paths, they did cross, though I cannot say just why We met, we laughed, we held on fast And then we said goodbye And who'll hear the echoes of stories never told? Let them ring out loud till they unfold In your dearest memories do you remember loving me? Was it fate that brought us close and now leaves me behind? A voice from the past, joining yours and mine Adding up the layers of harmony And so it goes on and on Melodies of life, to the sky beyond the flying birds Forever and if I should leave this lonely world behind Your voice will still remember our melody Now I know we'll carry on Melodies of life, come circle round and grow deep in our hearts As long as we remember
@RicoLen2 Glad to know you found something to suit your taste. As I thought, the same singer or band can perform the same song in many different ways in live, depending on their mood as we are humans and not robots. IMHO this is what makes concerts so interesting instead of monotonous, especially with artists arranging a song in a way that can make people prefer the live one than the original one that was recorded in a studio in the first place.
@RicoLen2 From my point of view, or rather listening, any tone that her voice takes in this song is light-years away to sound like country... I understand that the way she puts more strenght in the lyrics than the japanese singer may make her sound unnatural for people used to the japanese version. But try to listen to the way Susan sings this title in the album "Returning Home" recorded from the latest live in Japan, you may find her new interpretation more peaceful like I did.
Here is something you might like watching as a singer: youtube(dot)com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mUgrpB4Qp4A . BTW where could we ear your songs?
I love Susan, I love Melodies of Life, this performance is too heavy on the tempo and too lacking on dynamics. It is possible this is one of her first performances of MoL. She did a much better job chicago 06/11
She is very talented, but she has a voice that is too powerful for this song. I think the soft and more fragile voice of Emiko Shiratori hits the spot perfectly. No disregard to susan calloway because she's still amazing.
No... No, she does have a country-ish tone to her voice. It's not her voice, just the way she sings. Her singing is powerful and all that, although I prefer this song sung more like a lullaby.
This version, I don't think the strong voice suits the song. But I understand that that's just my opinion. =). She's got a good voice, I just don't like this version =) just so I don't get yelled at ;)

Damn it! Come back to san diego. I would love to hear A Place to Call Home - Melodies of Life live. :(
I was there this year, and there is a lot of sound quality lost to this persons microphone. She is a brilliant singer.

This song makes me cry every time. -,_-
@Kati1337 The concert was in December so I'm just assuming thats why its there.
i guess her voice is too powerful for very sweet song such as melodies of life. this song is well suited to emiko, imo.
@XenonVincent7 Actually she's already been chosen for the theme song of FFXIV, that you can already get on the net from the beta audio rip ;)
this song is only suited for high pitch voice
My thoughts exactly.
@jpnn80 She needs to sing all the vocal songs for all the next FFs to come.
I personnaly agree as FF6 stays the most moving for me
ff9 = BEST STORY in the serie
AMEN!!!
Hello from the future! Not anymore... FFXIV now exists.
What the heck with that christmas bell in the background? Oo

slow the tempo down!
She's better than any of the other people that sang Final Fantasy songs, that includes Emiko.
