they actually touch on the time travel thing during the DLC. Trunks says that the GT timeline was made as an alternate timeline when he went back in time, and the kai of time is stated to not use such an "archaic form" of time travel or something to that effect IIRC. Also AT is stated to have worked on the game somewhat making the characters kai of time and toki toki, and he gave them his blessing according to the director of the game, so id say Xenoverse could be considered canon since it is about restoring the story to its original form, that makes it possible to explain away any contradictions, and it had AT involved somewhat, however as there is no official canon it boils down to matter of opinion.
I think the best way to explain the time travel inconsistency is that Trunks' machine was running on the multiverse theory, while the device the Kaioshin of Time used works differently. However, this game still canot be actually canon, since it's a story that runs parallel to the main story. It was never meant to be part of the story.
Parallel. just like gt, correct? Tell me if I'm wrong man but.....doesn't dragon ball have multiple universes? And don't thoes universes independently have their own timelines due to time travel? At least to me it seems like trunks from xenoverse came from his own timeline (a Parallel timeline) in universe 7, independent of the original trunks, he wouldn't have ever interacted with him. Only identical versions of him throughout time so the continuity would stay the same. So if we are going by continuity yes It very much can be cannon and the main characters are just un-aware
It's definitely part of the story, just not of the main timeline. But the main timeline already isn't the "original" story, the original story is goku dies with a heart virus and trunks leaves for the future. Technically that's where that timeline would end
@@dxublexxsplicitxxsplicit4943 well… GT wouldn’t be a universe more of a parallel timeline or… something like that. The universes are all different only there being 12 unless one of the other ones that Zeno destroyed before super could’ve been gt? Who knows. It’d be an interesting concept to explore.
hold up, the time travel in xenoverse 2 (can't speak for 1, didn't play it) is just a correction not an alteration, chronoa said that once things are set right any minor changes will be fixed in the scrolls themselves, that's why in xenoverse 2 goku and the others never fully remembered you popping up.. That doesn't exactly make it canon, but it shows that xenoverse CAN exist in the canon story, without changing already established canon events. I don't normally agree with adding games to canon but... I kinda want the trunks ending of xenoverse 2 (100% completion) to come true :/
Um. Pretty sure Toriyama wrote the script to Xenoverse. Also. Seeing as how the Supreme Kai of Time is basically the goddess of time, she and the select people she chooses (The Time Patrol), can go back in time without making a new timeline entirely. She could easily overrule the new timeline effect and perform Back to the Future style time travel. Also. Xenoverse is canon in my own mind. I doubt Future Trunks will be coming back and he needs to find a new home after Goku Black. Perhaps he is confronted by Chronoa and he ends up joining the Time Patrol. Mai could have joined him in Tokitoki but doesn't take part in the main story. Perhaps she has children and become a housewife like most DB women. Or maybe she remains where she and Trunks settled and Trunks just visits whenever he can. Point being. Xenoverse can easily fit into canon. A point where Chronoa can confront Trunks is established. A reason why he'd leave his timeline exist. The only plot holes are Mira/Towa's death and Mai's presence. Toriyama often forgets people and while Mai came second you can easily cover that with my aforementioned points. As for Mira and Towa. Mira survived being obliterated in Xenoverse 1, so he could probably do it again in two. Therefore, Towa would survive and when Mira regenerates or whatever, he could release her. Also. When Mira died in 2, a large orb of purple appeared in his place mid blast. He could have possibly sent himself into the dimension Bardock dragged him into earlier. Or a third possibility. The timeline in which they fought is unknown. i think i recall Mira successfully took over Earth in the DBO timeline. Perhaps Xenoverse 2 is showcasing the end of his reign and Mira finally being killed once and for all in the timeline he ruled. Xenoverse could also easily fit in as the origin story to Online as both heavily revolve around time travel and showcase the same two big bads in Mira and Towa. Given how far in the future it is, you can argue the Time Patrol has become so large that Chronoa and Trunks either don't rule it or no longer have to manage the big missions as the Time Patrol is basically able to run on it's own letting Chronoa just chill with Tokitoki and Trunks to just screw Mai's brains out when he's not on a mission.
You know, the black arc in dbs actually gave us some solid proof as to whether or not it's Canon. There are two trunks. Maybe the trunks of the new timeline was taken by the time patrol and he eventually decided to work with them forever given how there's a new blue haired trunks.
The 'contradiction', after a little bit of reading, doesn't hold water in terms of declaring Xenoverse as non-canon. Online has stated that the very nature of time travel has changed. While there are still a potentially near infinite number of timelines, time travel no longer works on Multiverse Theory in the Dragon Ball Universe. In that sense, the 'contradiction' is resolved. While there is a near infinite number of timelines out there caused by how time travel worked previously... well, Xenoverse is what's going on with that now. You yourself said that, through Akira Toriyama confirming it, Online was canon. If so, then the changing of how time travel works is now canon as well. Not to rag on you about this but please do a bit more research in the future. Seriously, I just did a quick lookup on things and found this information in a few minutes. It wasn't that hard. -_-
Yes but also trunks him self said whatever he changes won't effect his own time. He was doing it to make sure the time line we know does not change. And the game seems to work on more of a multiverse Thory.
Well it kind of makes sense. because you're going back and fixing things so those events don't actually happen but it's happening on a different scale. and granted I realize it's the programming of the game but think about it if it was happening in real time how the game was initially suggest then your modern time that you're going back to do the missions from should periodically change the match those time fluctuations. so what you're doing is what trunks did by saving a parallel universe that is happening within the same universe in a way. there is also another theory which could be Back to the Future theory or the other one you mentioned. that if it's going to happen it will happen and nothing will stop it eventually balance will find a way to sort itself out even if it means a period of chaos. remember what Goku said that he was originally sent to Earth to destroy it though even he was protecting it in a way that's exactly what was happening because of his immense power and him breaking boundaries villains always seem to come to earth to challenge him or a time to revenge and that is one of the reasons why he left to train Uub and leave the fate of the world in Gohan's hands temporarily
It's just a game, I don't consider it anything legit when it comes to the series/manga. Dimps just decided to make it like DB Online just to take it a different route. Since I believe DBZ Shin Budakai Another Road was another different one but nun special to take it serious
I'd like to think of games like Xenoverse, Heroes, and even the upcoming Fusions game as being its own canon and is unrelated to any other Dragon Ball media. I honestly don't get why fans want the games to somehow be part of the DB canon narrative, save Online.
Xenoverse cant be cannon since it has the gt dlc which you go and help the gt characters, and we all know gt isnt canon. But without that dlc its still debatable. Nevertheless great video man loving it.
Geekdom101 Thats like saying fukkatsu no f is cannon, then they have an extended version showcasing broly or cooler in the end making it not cannon etc. But yeah Mira and Towa could be canon is a possibility. One thing that makes no sense though are the dlc added to xenoverse. Because how the fuck does trunks know what hapens to goku turning ssj4 etc when watchign the videos, he would therefore be much older since gt has happened. But thats why its a DLC lol. Unless they can go into future events which that was the case.
There is a time travel theory that the story is already written, like: On Terminator, Kail (No idea how you spell his name) is John's father, but he is from the future, and the only way he could go to the past was if he knew John, and he is John's father, or on Orcarina of Time when you teach a guy an ocarina song on the past, after he teached you it on the future, so he teached a song to you you teached him, the only problem with this is that The Legend of Zelda follows the Multiverse Theory, there are theorys that explain that with the multiverse theory, but that is an example that is used on edia.
None of the video games are canone. While they may follow the events of the series they also show it is possible for the weakest character to beat the strongest when in the Anime/manga which Akira worked on proved other wise.
I say xenoverse is canon not just because Akira created the story but because of the timeline effect mentioned in the video. The time nest is literally the center of time where nothing progresses time wise. Trunks was the first person to ever time travel which is why there are multiple timelines now. Parallel quest are the alternate timelines and the main timelines as well, PQ37 is a main tmieline quest that you'd have to fix because of demigra in the main plot of the game. Super buu to kid buu, whatever happened to vegito? Well if you do PQ37 there he is counted as a different timeline possibly in a different universe. On top of that there's 12 universes in the series that we have yet to know about so maybe xenoverse is just an opening to what is going to come.
***** A - Toriyama did not create the story B - The time travel system in Xenoverse does not work the same as in DBZ and it is a major contradiction. The video explains this.
***** Akira Toriyama will always be credited as the creator of the story because he created the characters. Its just like how he's credited in GT. Just like how John Carpenter gets the credit for the Halloween sequels even though he only directed and wrote the first one.
That's a very hard question because there are two continuity regarding Time Patroller, which are Xenoverse and Heroes. The most objective answer as of now is that on its own, DBS disregarded any information established in video games, as if they were never exists and would contradict the video games statements. However, both games would borrows DBS events as part of them and they would continuously retcon with DBS lore to fit with it.
i know this is an old video but if anyones still interested DBO was actually available in Taiwan and Hong Kong versions as well. on top of that it has been brought back by a group of fans and you can play it right now :D
