You probably figured it out by now but that circle at the start of your clutch/throttle cable is a locking nut, loosen it up and spin the cable tip. You want a small amount of clutch cable slack/lever jiggle, but not as much as you got in this video for sure. After adjusting it turn your bars all the way both ways to make sure it still has a little slack. You want to fit a nickle (2mm) in the gap of your lever before it has tension, and that's the slack you want. Also I raised my shifter. I’m size 12 and it was annoying as hell to ride it that way. Also if you don’t remove pressure off the shifter , it won’t shift up into the next gear. Little quirks but it’s a bit more comfortable to ride after 500 miles
My throttle had bad slack too, it really bugged me. When i took it to the dealer for the first service and got the bike back, they had tightened it up and it felt sooo much better.
Yeah the quick shifter is smooth at higher rpms, I usually use the clutch on low rpms for smoother shifts. I also adjusted the slack out of my throttle.
What’s up dude. Sick bike. I ride a 2023 650 and honestly plan on keeping it for a long time. Already got almost 19k miles. You mentioned the quick shifter on the 650 and I done it a few times. The reason I bring it up is for the 650 I noticed it wouldn’t shift up if the rpm’s were to low. Idk anything about the tech or the 636 but maybe it’s giving you issues with quick shifting because the rpm’s are to low. Especially in the break In. Either way an absolutely beautiful bike man. I got the white and grey 650 with the orange accents. Ride safe brother.
@@CityNinja650 wow dude you definitely ride the heck out of your 650 😅. Okay gotcha! I guess I’ll use the clutch for lower rpm shifting. Thank you, it definitely is a beaut. Also the color way on your 650 is nice too. Haven’t seen one like that in person. You ride safe as well my guy. 💯💯
My 2021 Zx6r has the same play in the throttle and the slop in the clutch lever. Even after adjustments it has been difficult to get it where im happy with it. With the quickshifter, practice shifting at different rpms to find the sweet spot cause there is one trust me when I say. You must also be on the throttle when quickshifting. The more throttle the better, also if you quickshift from first to second nice and smooth no problem, then you have trouble going from second to third its most likely because you let off just a bit before accelerating then quickshifting without realizing. It only allows one go on the throttle in between shifts if that makes any sense.
Quickshifter: It could not be the case, but just in case I will write it. If you are not high enough on rpms, it won't shift smoothly, on my r6 I don't shift with QS if I'm not over 6000 rpms, also even if you are over certain amount of rpms, it will shift more smooth if you are giving it power, if you are accelerating, but not enough, it won't be as smooth as if you are giving it juice. Slack on the clutch: yes, you can adjust it, but remember that there should be some slack or you could burn your clutch. Slack on the throttle: I think you already know this, but all bikes have it, it is for safety, I've never adjust it, but as far as I know, you can.
As for mods... ..an exhaust on its own, not gonna do that much on a modern bike, you really need ecu tuning to unlock what you gained with the open exhaust (and also to remove any emmissions restrictions that might be present at certain rpms). Also you might want to change the air filter to a high flow one before that. Other than that, maybe a a higher end suspension, that is built for your weight. But then again its a new bike, so just enjoy it and congrats :)
@@StygianX definitely gonna get my ECU flashed from Moore Mafia. What brand for air filter do you recommend? I weigh 140 pounds so I’m not sure suspension would do much but thanks for the advice and thanks I will definitely be enjoying this bike!!
@@MotoDanTheMan Ah yea at 140, stock should work :D. Air filter wise, don't overthink it, just pick a model specific from any reputable aftermarket manufacturer and you will be good to go. As usual no1 will be K&N that comes to everyone's mind. Important part is not to forget to periodically take it out, wash/clean, re-apply oil and put it back.
Clutch slack might be from poor shifts/take offs burning your clutch. Make sure is has a small amount of slack, like enough to put a quarter in. It just wears over time and thats what the slack represents.
The Slack should be there .... its normal, and use quickshifter only when you have some RPMs left to give out to quick shifter to lower the revs and upshift it.
I take the r9 soon all the bikes going to have the technology. And cruise control on the bike is awesome. Plus it has navigation. And u not losing horsepower

I’ve had a liter bike. Buell 1125r. it was insane, I loved it. I traded for a 400 supermoto…. Take that to heart. The liter+ bike is the end game, but if you didn’t die you can restart the game at anytime and know what’s up.
I had issues with changing gears. Solution: adjust the gear leaver for size of your boot. Basically if it is too tight between foot and leaver, leaver is not reseting. You need slightly bigger gap between your boot and leaver.
@@MotoDanTheMan I bet it is honestly bro if I wasent able to I’m perfectly ok with the 500 it’s enough power in my opinion but those inline 4s just sound soooo goood.
@@Qrides then I’d say the perfect bike for you is the ZX4R or ZX4RR. Inline 4, 16k rpm, with a top speed of 131 mph. Perfect bike for beginners who want a 4 cylinder screamer. If you get the RR you get quickshift up AND down! Maybe look into that. Kawi recently dropped the prices on them because they realized they were selling them for too much for a 400cc.
@@sliqdaddy91 absolutely. As long as you know what you’re doing. No weight on your wrists and try to take breaks from time to time just to give your body a rest. The ZX6R isn’t as aggressive as other supersports but you definitely don’t wanna put fatigue on your body.
Quick shifters work by cutting throttle to an assumed duration and going into next gear. So if you are not hard on the throttle and a little higher in the RPM’s it will never be smooth. It can’t make decisions for partial acceleration, it’s designed for the perfect amount of cut throttle at high loads to hit the next gear as fast as possible. If you’re not doing that it will never feel good.
@@AceGoodheart so if you let off when switching gears, it’s no longer quick shifting. You are actually just banging gears, which on a bike isn’t really all that bad because the transmission is a dog box style but I digress. A quick shift up as in 2 -> 3 only works under medium throttle or higher as a rule of thumb. On the MT09 depending on your year you should only use the quick up when over 5k and actually giving it some gas. If you have an auto-blipper as in 3 -> 2 you can do it at any rpm and always with NO throttle.
i think everyone gets buyers remorse bro but you made the right decision imo. the r9 wont release for some time and its kinda ugly. those new zx6rs are gorgeous I was considering one but got an R6 instead. Also with the price I payed for it I couldve easily gotten a liter bike but 600s are already ridulously fast anyway plus insurance.
That quick shifter (if it performs like the zx-4rr) is really touchy about rpm and engine load to get those buttery smooth shifts. If you're on stock tuning, you kind of have to learn to drive around it. I can't speak about other tuners but the guy I went with cleaned it up a lot. Super crispy vs stock and obviously a ton more power over the stock nanny on the 4rr.
Change your oil early. 200 miles then 800. Put a magnet in it and watch all the shavings attach to it. Had the zero gravity. They scratch easily. Switched to a Puig. Actually is nicer and feels more premium.
im planning to get one of these next month like the first half, i wanna get it so bad now but i wanna wait until i get the money right hopefully the same color is still in stock at the time
I'm very picky about the look of the bike, particularly the color scheme. I think out of most of the bikes on the market today the ZX6R with the white/red looks the best. I do like the Kawasaki 500 old school green/white/blue color scheme too. I'm pretty happy with my MT-09 with the cyan wheels.
Dude!!! I’m on the same path man, I bought a 2024 ninja 650 3 months ago….. I wish I knew about this bike then😞😞😞. Don’t get me wrong, I love my 650 it’s fast enough to have fun, it’s super comfortable with the upright seating, and I love the look of it. I have the camo green one. But this is my dream bike, the pearl robotic white. Love the white black and red throughout. I want that speed, and the lower riding position, but is it uncomfortable after a while?? I’ve definitely got some buyers remorse especially since I’m gonna have to be stuck paying this off a bit until I can get to a better price for the trade for the zx6r, but like I said I still love my 650. As for the throttle slack, there’s a way to tighten it, I just did it on my 650 throttle, right under the throttle there’s a cable with a screw you can twist back and that’ll fix it right up. As for the exhaust, are you getting a full or a slip on, either way… it better be an m4😏😏 from what I’ve seen / heard those are the best. One day if you do the full system custom tune and velocity stacks you will be putting around 126-128 hp to the wheel. blows the R9 away hp wise ( R9 is like around 105-108 at the wheel )
Nah from what I’ve read and seen from other owners of the 2025 is that it comes stock with 136hp this year . Another owner and dealership told me that .

Love the bike. You haven’t tap into this bikes power yet. So don’t pass judgment yet. This bike power is plenty on the street. The R9 is practically a liter bike at that point with its torque down low. Get use to this bike power first. The slack on the lever and throttle is for your safety. Some slack is good. You don’t want it to start revving just by resting your hand at a stop if the cable is too tight. Other than that, the lever can be adjusted to make it tighter. Have fun and ride safe, bruh!

so the KQS - if its the same as my 10r..... as youre likely aware, you dont have to roll off throttle when upshifting, but if youre under 20mph (which shouldnt be much) it wont work, thats by design. When blipping, you have to roll off the throttle else you'll will jerk forward most of the time and again, if you dont blip into 1st when stopping and you get to 20mph then try and go down, it will deactivate by design.
What's your opinion about the zx6? Does the seating position give back cramp? Or neck pain? Is it good for daily use? I'm planning to buy new bike for daily use going to work. I'm confused whether cfmoto675sr or the zx6. I rode long distance. But having cp3 engine is good for stoplight and instant power to go fast.
@@neilgaming2127 so far I have had no back pain and the longest I’ve ridden was an hour and a half. And so far since I’ve bought it, I’ve been riding it every day and I gotta say, no problems at all. The bike isn’t too aggressive in terms of power so I’d say it’s definitely a good street bike.
Your clutch slack is out of spec, needs to be adjusted. On my Daytona it didn't like quickshift (up only) when coasting or going down hill, which makes sense because you can't cut the throttle when there is no throttle to cut.

Congrats bro 🎉 636 is my dream bike i gonna make it come true someday..
You got this, trust. 💯
Awesome bike! Look forward to seeing and hearing it after the break-in and with the new exhaust, M4 maybe?
@@SamuraiStrongZero thanks for the info 💯💯
The slack can easily be adjusted out of throttle and levers. Quickshifters work best against a load. 👍
Hope you enjoy that new bike moving on forward
Those qs really depends on rpms on the Ducati 937 if I shifted at low rpms it wasn’t that smooth but when ur ripping it was butter
Clutch slack might be from poor shifts/take offs burning your clutch. Make sure is has a small amount of slack, like enough to put a quarter in. It just wears over time and thats what the slack represents.
@@LSB44446 gotcha! Thanks 💯
you have to actually turn on the quick shifter for it to shift smoothly every time.
@@ImranKhan-rx5jo it is activated, you can see the KQS on the dash
The Slack should be there .... its normal, and use quickshifter only when you have some RPMs left to give out to quick shifter to lower the revs and upshift it.
You can change the slack of both throttle and clutch with the cable adjusters.
I had the same problem with th 500 throttle also. Got a tune from 2wdw and it disappeared. It’s a manufacturer problem.
I take the r9 soon all the bikes going to have the technology. And cruise control on the bike is awesome. Plus it has navigation. And u not losing horsepower

@@MotoDanTheMan I’ve been riding since I was 5 bro but I definitely would like the zx6r
@@Qrides ah okay. I feel you 💯
You guys think this bike would be ok on 1 time -2 times a year 400 mile trek? New York to Michigan
@@sliqdaddy91 absolutely. As long as you know what you’re doing. No weight on your wrists and try to take breaks from time to time just to give your body a rest. The ZX6R isn’t as aggressive as other supersports but you definitely don’t wanna put fatigue on your body.
I got 7500 miles on mine. Perfect bike
@@garboi8976 gotcha! Thanks for the info my guy 💯
So quick shift while still throttling, correct? I have QS on my MT-09 but only used it a few times, but I let off the throttle when switching gears.
@@garboi8976 I'll have to try it out again minus the letting off the throttle. Mine is a 2024.
@@AceGoodheart I have a new RS660 so we have the same type of quickshifter up and down. When you use it right it’s a lot of fun.
Adjust your clutch cable when you can. You're going to burn out your clutch prematurely and might have issues with clutch disengagement.
@@xGamerful uh oh.. thanks for the heads up, definitely gonna do that now 😳
in order to pass the next gear smoothly you need to go high in rpm
i think everyone gets buyers remorse bro but you made the right decision imo. the r9 wont release for some time and its kinda ugly. those new zx6rs are gorgeous I was considering one but got an R6 instead.
@@MrSkyentist flash tune or dyno?
Change your oil early. 200 miles then 800. Put a magnet in it and watch all the shavings attach to it. Had the zero gravity. They scratch easily. Switched to a Puig. Actually is nicer and feels more premium.
There’s a way to adjust both the throttle and the clutch
im planning to get one of these next month like the first half, i wanna get it so bad now but i wanna wait until i get the money right hopefully the same color is still in stock at the time
I'm very picky about the look of the bike, particularly the color scheme. I think out of most of the bikes on the market today the ZX6R with the white/red looks the best. I do like the Kawasaki 500 old school green/white/blue color scheme too. I'm pretty happy with my MT-09 with the cyan wheels.
i have a 23 z400 and im contemplating this or the new r9
You have to shift (footpeg) harder on the 6r than most other bikes. Once you get used to it it's fine.
I was thinking about getting red grips, the tail tidy as well and definitely a smoked windscreen. But love the bike man, congrats! I’ll definitely be watching your vids and checkin in with you! Other than that, the lever can be adjusted to make it tighter.

so the KQS - if its the same as my 10r..... as youre likely aware, you dont have to roll off throttle when upshifting, but if youre under 20mph (which shouldnt be much) it wont work, thats by design.
