I’m bedridden mostly and I still buy bags and I can’t even use them. I made my husband put shelves on my walls and I put them there like if they are a museum piece. 😊they made me extremely happy. Some of my daily medications 💊 are in my Gucci bags, I put my IV supplies in my LV neverfull and so on. I think when we are over 40 we start to enjoy without guilt. Oh and I am with jewels like a Christmas tree 🎄 everyday. I can be so sick and I don’t care 🤷🏻♀️ they give me life.
I love that! I am so sorry to hear you are sick but I am so happy you are getting joy from what you love and are finding creative ways to enjoy even more! We should wear our jewelry like a Christmas tree even when we aren't leaving the house. Why not? Thank you for sharing your story. Xoxo
Girl life is too short to worry and feel guilty over something that brings you joy. The people who judge do so because they are jealous and envious. I cannot afford as big of a collection as you have but I love and enjoy watching you with yours. I love handbags and I don’t care what anyone else thinks about it!
Regarding guilt Melinda, I absolutely agree with your commenter! When we were newly married my husband golfed, hunted, fished & went on weekend trips revolved around his hobbies. I love bags! There was a period of time where he judged me on it. Until I explained that he did all of these hobbies, why did I not get to have something that I enjoyed?! (We didn’t do any of it if we couldn’t afford it). He got it immediately and it feels so good to just once in a while do something for yourself! Also, he’s since bought me several bags. I say, life is short… buy the bag!
That is wonderful he changed his mind! My husband goes to all kinds of sporting events where even just a drink is $15, I am glad he gets it. I don't like sports but we all have what we love. Yes life is short buy the bag! Xoxo
I love the last point so much! A few of my partners colleagues have cars, racehorses, watches yet they make fun of my handbags. Misogyny at its finest.
I hadn't seen the comment on the previous video, but I love love love the message of this video! I literally caught myself earlier today saying I feel so guilty (I'm getting a new bag to celebrate my 10 year wedding anniversary). Thank goodness I, too, have a husband who is supportive and nonjudgemental. He finds it so cute when I get passionate about my handbag collection. I so needed to hear all of this today, so, thank you Melinda ❤❤
This video came out the right moment! Just bought a Bag and the quilt is immense. Your message about no longer feeling guilty is resonating with me. Thank you.
You are so right, it is so stressful to sell the luxury item. Glad I downsized my collection 2 years ago and now I don’t have any bags I want to sell. I don’t want to deal with this anymore. I had same problem with YSL bag. Great comment. Like the attitude. Life is too short to feel guilty. Great video Melinda💕
It really is stressful! You sold at a very good time and thank you for selling me back my Disco! Life is really too short to feel guilty over things. Thank you Irene! Xoxo
I agree. I was trying to sell some of my bags on Poshmark, but as you mentioned, it was very time-consuming. I realized that I didn’t have the patience for it. I started looking at consignment options, but they take a significant portion of the profit, which isn’t really worth it. So, I have decided to keep the bags for now. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I ran across you a while ago and it's interesting to me that I find your channel comforting. I have no collections and have no interest in handbags but it's you I like. You are appreciative. I love how everyone is different, each of us has our uniqueness and I think that's to be cultivated. I like nice sheets and probably have more than I need and probably wash and iron them more than I need to but that's my thing There is so much judgement and we all need less of it. I like minimal possessions in my life but I celebrate your appreciation for your bags and jewelry. I appreciate art, music, all manor if beauty and so do you in your bags. Who judges art collectors? My diamond doesn't do anything for me but I love mine. I don't need it, it's not an investment, I just like it. So what? I enjoy seeing you and others talk about the different things you're in to. I don't have to " get you" to respect you and even understand you. Go love your life and everything in it.. ps. I showed one of videos to my husband and I said " men have cars and look at Leno" before I saw this video. Talk about money on a shelf( garage).Patriarchy. My husband of 47 years said" yeah,no one needs to tell anyone else how to spend their money".
Thank you for another great video. You are so right, selling handbags nowadays is so hard, nerve racking, and with little to no return on your investment,...so I think I'm done too. Like you, I use to be able to sell my items, but that's all changed. I also agree with the no longer feeling guilty about having and enjoying my bags. Although I have a small collection I know there are people who still can not understand why I have them, or try to make me feel bad. A few of my bags were gifts from my husband or daughter, but the assumption would be I bought everything myself...oh well, you can't control what people think, but I do know the I will not feel guilty anymore.
It is really nerve racking that is a great way to describe it. We can't control who judges us but we can say no to the guilt and enjoy our pretty things.
Melinda you are so right about how people can collect watches or cars and no one judges. I don’t get judgement by my friends and family and my husband is totally supportive and talks bags with me and goes bag shopping with me to help me decide when I’m looking at a bag. Helpful to have a second set of eyes. By the way, I carried my black Chanel jumbo the other day just like I said I would. Enjoyed it so much and will make a point of carrying it again soon. And I got a new (preloved and could not believe the price) grey Chanel reissue 226 which I already have two of in other colors, and it is my fav bag). Discontinued color. Hubby urged me to get it and absolutely no guilt. I love it! All this makes so much sense and I totally agree.
So glad you carried the jumbo! And that is great you found another reissue. I like my husband to come shopping too because like you said a second set of eyes and he isn't as wooed as I am so he is more objective as well.
You are so lovely………… Don’t feel guilty with things that gives you smiles or joyful feelings. I try to enjoy every bags I have and I give myself a ‘invisible’ pat on my shoulder for living the good life that I get to live & enjoy. So enjoy everything you have and every other wonderful things to come in the future.
No more guilt such a wonderful topic,as women we have guilt about so many things, bags are lovely and practical items. When our kids are young we need bags, when we work we need bags,we just simply need bags and like you and many others l say No More Guilt ❤️🌻
I loved this video, Melinda! You bring up so many great points. I loved how you ended it as well… Live and let live. That sums it up because life is short! I love your channel and I hope you have a wonderful day.🎉
Thank you so much Amber! One of your videos got me to thinking about guilt, it was a Q and A and I remember you saying you work hard for what you have and have no guilt. That really stuck with me. I love your channel too, have a great day! Xoxo
Love this video. I stopped feeling guilty about my bags last year after thinking deep about the WHY… and realized I have no reason for feeling that way anymore. TFS ❤
When guilt kicks in, I remind myself, people are going to talk no matter what and they don't pay my bills so it's none of their business. Also, as you mentioned, life is too short so enjoy what you can afford and make the most of it each and every day. Yay for enjoying our precious life! Great video, thank you! PS-as one of my daughters says, "It's your business and your money - everybody spends their money in different ways!"
Absolute sage advice, Melinda! Thank you so much for posting this. I have often thought about selling some bags to fund a pre-loved Chanel or Hermes but I wonder if I will have seller's regret! I don't have to resell them to fund a new bag, thankfully, but I just don't want to have a massive collection, for collection's sake. All of the reasons you presented have really given me a better sense of why I would or wouldn't want to resell a bag, Thank you for being so open about all of these very valid, real reasons. I am so sorry to hear you were scammed, that is awful!! Glad that you were able to talk about it and move on. I am learning to let go of all sorts of guilt too, I get it! THAT is a journey, lol. xxx
So happy it was helpful! I don't want to collect either but as long as everything gets used I am ok with it, even it it isn't used that often. Yes saying goodby to guilt now that is a journey, shopping is not! Xoxo
Hi Melinda. Great video! I’m experiencing this issue with selling. I’m taking my items down today as I’m getting stupid offers and time wasting comments. Plus we have this new taxation law in the UK now. Ridiculous when we have to pay tax on the items we own if we choose to sell them! ❤
I love luxury bags, and I love learning about them. For me, in good conscience, I don’t buy them, although I have a tremendous collection of contemporary bags. That said, if I were EVER to purchase a bag, YOU would be the person I would trust 100%! Enjoy all of your beautiful things, and know that you are admired for your honesty and grace.❤
I loved this video, can’t say I’ve ever felt guilty but perhaps that’s because I started buying when I was briefly single and late 20s - ain’t nobody able to judge me as there was no family, kids I was fully independent and it just wasn’t impacting on my life at all (or anyone else’s). Even tho those things shouldn’t affect judgement I think the guilt factor impacts people with other people/responsibilities in their life - hopefully that makes sense.
Thank you Dayle! That is awesome you never felt the guilt and that makes total sense. Since I was 20 I have been responsible for people besides myself my daughters needs had to come first and even though those responsibilities are long gone that might be where the guilt came from. I am pretty sure it was you who left the comment about not feeling guilty but for the life of me I can't remember the video!
@@LuxPurselove I honestly think that’s how people do it - they guilt you because they say … you could do this or that usually for your children… then when you don’t have children you should do it for charity…. If you don’t have children I do believe that there is less guilt attached. Probably just - is this a responsible decision based on financial circumstances.
@@DaylesAddiction That is very true. I do get the charity comments now, why can't someone donate and buy lovely things? I do. We gave those girls the world and it is our turn now. No one should judge any of us rather we have kids or not. Agree on being responsible financially too.
Melinda, I find your comments refreshing! Trust your gut. If it tells you this is the right thing to do, then do it! No one else's voice matters. Everyone has something that brings them joy-and they are allowed to celebrate it!
This video was awesome and Good for you Malinda ! I’ve heard some bad stories about selling to strangers and it always seems stressful. Yes girl keep your bags .
Yes, release the guilt. I love my bags and I am so pleased my husband gets it and enjoys giving his opinions on bags he thinks I might like or not. Melinda, I do have a few regrets on bags I have sold. One I sold years age was a Burberry limited edition that was pinkish with hand painted design on it. Still bothers me a little to this day.
I love your attitude and I am doing it too. I get a lot of joy out of my bags and jewellery and life is too short to not do what you want and can afford. We aren’t hurting anyone so if others want to be judgmental that’s their problem not ours.
I agree 💯 many years ago I used to hide my shoes (I store them in their original box) but then I had a small closet made to display them why not! And same with bags and jewelry 🎉
Thank you so much for sharing. I was wondering about that tax law myself. Thank you for clarifying it. Yes I think I’m done selling too. Not worth what it costs to do. The anxiety is crazy and you worry thru the whole transaction. Not for me, not anymore. By the way no more guilt either!!! Thanks sweetie I appreciate this video very much.
I was very close to selling my Chanel WOC - I would've lost $800 from what I paid for it. I backed out last minute as I decided I do love the bag; I just don't wear it that often but it is worth it to hang onto it. I have sold other bags at a loss, but am thinking twice about letting go of other items in the future
Good for you….and I’m sorry that you ever struggled with guilt. Let it go…..you deserve these things so enjoy them. Sending you the very best of wishes.
I totally agree with your thoughts! I used to sell my bags for more than 10 years ever since I love bags. Selling and then re-buying again coz of buyers remorse. Since 2024, I told myself to NOT SELL and just enjoy the bags I have. It makes me feel so tiring to post online and answer the queries and meet the buyer etc.. it takes up so much time and effort! I bought my dream bag Chanel Classic and Lady Dior last year and these will never leave my collection. I do not buy pre-loved either not because I do not want to save $ but there are many scammers out there and I am not an expert in authenticating bags so I rather buy direct from the store itself where I know it is 100% genuine. Absolutely true about men! Mine kid always tell me why would I want to buy a bag and not use it. I have yet to carry my Lady Dior, and i have bought her for almost 3 weeks and still it is still sittiing there looking pretty hahaha. So I dont care, coz I dont beg or borrow to buy my bag. Period.
It is so much effort and time to sell! Congrats on your new bags! You will use the Lady when you are ready to. I haven't used my new one yet because of weather and many other reasons but I will. I love the I don't beg or borrow me too!
It’s not like a few years ago when everything would sell in a snap. Definitely a different market which is why we need to be more mindful of our purchases. I didn’t know PayPal friend and family could be reversed! Did they give a reason why they sided with the buyer?! In any case way too scary and I’m glad they let you keep the funds which was rightfully yours! I totally agree we should be guilt free!! I do have judgmental people in my life so not as easy for me but at least I can be guilt free in this community of ours! 🙌🙌🙌
It really is a different market these days. No they didn't give me a reason for siding with the buyer but I am so grateful they let me keep my money. I am sorry you have judgmental people in your life. No judgement here! Xoxo
Yes Melinda, we at times really feel guilty with the things we love and men..yeah i just changed my car or i just got another BMW or whatever fancy. We have to change. Yes too with Chanel, i have one classic small and hardly use it but i am so so happy to have it, bought it 2 years ago and that time the price is crazy and even more so. No way that i want to sell it and later regret. Now is really the buyers market. Thanks for sharing 🤗😍
I love everything you said. I have way too many SLGs but I love every single one of them and I don't care if they just sit there while I keep using my Bottega white cardholder 😊
That's a fantastic comment by one of your subscribers. We don't need to justify to anyone what we spend on handbags. Everyone has their own thing that they like spending their money on. Not hurting anyone.
i actually used that comment today when my sister told me I had too many pairs of shoes. I told her I would not fill guilty anymore about the things I have etc. 🙂
Melinda this video is soooo spot on! I have exactly same thoughts and beliefs like you. I had 2 of my lady Diors and was thinking about selling and a fendi first and just got them back to my closet. I have regret for selling a Miu Miu clutch that i loved but since i got a chanel i thought i dont need it and sold it, now i miss it so much. Im not selling my bags, my daughter is 14 and already loves bags, she will get them all….. Not selling anymore.
The regret is awful and many times you can't find the same bag again even if you wanted to. How wonderful your daughter is into bags, you two will have so much fun!
About selling your bags, I think if you have your original purchase receipt you are covered. they can’t tax you for selling your already paid for items. Can they?
@jbtb285 Yes that is correct and you almost always lose money but it just makes selling that much more complicated to now have the government involved.
Oh my gosh Melinda! I recently sold a chanel med flap on Poshmark. So MANY ppl would dm me asking to buy off Poshmark, or paypal Friends and Family, or pay $400 in Poshmark to bypass their authentication process and then the rest via FF paypal. I said NO NO every time! It took me 6 ish months to sell the bag at the price I want. It’s insane. I made like $1000ish. Definitely not an investment. I make more from stock market investing. Im so over luxury goods.
You were smart not to do that! It is just too easy to get scammed. I totally agree with you, while it was nice to make $1000 myl investments are also much higher than that.
@@kimroller3609 Actually a house is most peoples largest asset and investment. I have always made a lot of money when I have sold a house. A bag not so much.
Just so you know, the tax law isn't for any deposit into your bank account that is $5000 (or whatever the new threshold will be, I don't think that amount has actually passed Congress yet). It is for goods/services transactions in PayPal, eBay, Mercari, etc. - not PayPal friends/family, Venmo, etc., or a check deposit into your checking account.
I love love this video. Yesssss!! I fully agree Melinda. ❤ I feel much more relaxed now watching your video talking about bags.. i needed this. This month has been sooo tough in so many ways and two people my age passed away. One 44 and one 45 and I’m heart broken. I’ve known them most of my life. I just need some videos about bags and other fun stuff. It’s a distraction somehow. Much love!
Hello, hope you are well!! I know you said you weren't going to sell your bags anymore...BUT I heard you mention the Rive Gauche beach bag. Would you reconsider? If so, how much? If there is a different way you would prefer I reach out, please advise.
I am no longer going to sell my bags anymore. I will not buy another bag if I have to sell. It’s not a one in one out. If I don’t have the $$ or if I’m overwhelmed by current collection it means don’t buy anymore. The end
It’s not just about the fund, I’m doing one in one out so I get to use all my bags. I only have one ikea shelf and it’s perfect for 10 bags. So I don’t have room for another bag. The market is bad now and I’m so afraid of scammers. I think I might have to keep the LV I’m trying to sell cuz no one is interested yet after one week of posting in the LV group.
Great Video! I too keep what I have and enjoy my luxuries every single day! Life is too short to feel guilty about something we love and we don’t hurt anyone!
While the idea of selling bags is a great idea.. few things to unpack. 1. The consumer thinks they are right lol 2. Low ball offers. 3! The intense headache from it. You’re 9x out of 10 you won’t get your money back. And not to mention the amount of scammers is insane.
Yes it’s very scary these days in regards to scammers. Never feel guilty about your bags enjoy them, it’s not worth the stress of selling. Have a great day,
I was wondering about your lady dior bags because I remember you said they didn’t work for you but you have new ones. I thought I missed something. Now I get it. Same for me, I regret selling most of my bags. I was in a decluttering mode and sold almost everything in 2019. I sold a vintage chanel lambskin seasonal bag for $1,000. I don’t know what I was thinking. Oh well life goes on. 😂
Just in case i have not told u, i love the burberry rain boots i bought from u. I think u paid a lot for shipping since it was in a big box and heavy too. Thank you, I appreciate you😍
👏👏👏 good for you! No reason to feel guilty. You have been responsible your whole life and continue to be with your finances. Enjoy the fruits of your labor
The reporting isn’t actually complicated. Just provide the 1099 to your accountant and explain what was a gain or loss. Everything has always been reportable. Whether you pay taxes is separate.
Hi Melinda! New to your channel and enjoying your vlogs. Just a tiny comment - on the banner at the top of your home page "jewelry" is spelled incorrectly. Clearly a typo but just thought I'd give you a heads up!
I get guilty if I have bags sitting around not being used. Sometimes they turn moldy. But I guess if you get taxed for selling them, then it doesn’t make sense.
My dear lady, you worked hard and made your money the hard way, by working your butt off. You can buy what you want, when you want, you should feel NO guilt whatsoever.
Such a great video, love your stories as much as your beautiful handbags Your husband’s friends “ so cheeky “ 😂You do what makes you happy and brings you joy,, you have a very popular YT channel and love the story about your dad ❤😂Thanks for your video and advice, best wishes always 💕💕
I’m stopping my workout and the video for a moment to comment Melinda. Firstly you shouldn’t feel guilty for what you buy. Your money. In terms of selling your things, if you sell it to fashionphile or another consigner, you may be able to trade for something you see on their website so you would not be making any money at all I imagine. Just a consideration if you see something you like on a site.
You have a beautiful collection. Like I heard one UA-camr state, “handbags don’t have a conscience.” You can put them on the floor for a week and they will not have an attitude about it. It is humans who give them personalities that don’t exist. So enjoy your bags… take them to the grocery store, wear them while you shovel the snow, put them on your head while having tea… they don’t care. It’s a bag & it’s doing its best being a bag, you’ll be never have to fill a college application for it after 18 years. Use it to it joyfully and bask in having them serve you to the fullest. 🤍
My family and friends don’t judge me that I have handbag’s collection. I think they understand that I love it. But random guy on party did 😂 he says why you spend such amount of money? By the way he spends 2000+ euro on telescopes, this is his hobby. I asked why you can spend your money on your hobby and I can’t?) 😂😂😂 that was funny for me
I agree about not feeling guilty! Enjoy the beautiful things you own. If people feel negatively about someone else’s belongings then that’s a reflection of them…Great conversation👜🩷
One of my friends taught me "everyday you are alive is enough reason to celebrate". Let go of the guilt...I'm still learning too❤
Love that! That is so true, we are not guaranteed tomorrow. I have let that guilt go!

That is so true and I love what your daughter days, that is true too! Thank you!
Xoxo
Great video Melinda….all great points. We shouldn’t feel guilty about things that give us pleasure and are not hurting others. Live and let live❤😊
We really shouldn't! Thank you!
Hi Melinda. Great video! I’m experiencing this issue with selling. I’m taking my items down today as I’m getting stupid offers and time wasting comments. Plus we have this new taxation law in the UK now. Ridiculous when we have to pay tax on the items we own if we choose to sell them! ❤
Thank you! Oh that stinks the UK is doing the taxation too. It really is ridiculous. It takes so much time and energy to sell it is just not worth it.
Awe thank you so much Susan!😘
I just about fell out of my chair when you pulled up the screenshot of my comment. I'm happy to hear that it resonated with you. 💗
Lol, I didn't mean to tip you over! It really did, that comment got me to thinking so much! Thank you again and I am sharing your sunny attitude!
Great video! I’m with you 1000% with you. No more selling no more gilt.
Yes! Thank you!
Totally agree the pre love market is not good. The prices are like the boutique and sometimes more
Melinda, I find your comments refreshing! Trust your gut. If it tells you this is the right thing to do, then do it! No one else's voice matters. Everyone has something that brings them joy-and they are allowed to celebrate it!
Thank you Toni! I love that, yes we should celebrate it! Why not? :)
This video was awesome and Good for you Malinda ! I’ve heard some bad stories about selling to strangers and it always seems stressful. Yes girl keep your bags .
It really is. Thank you!
That’s wonderful your husband gets it too. The regret is just awful!
Omg I can’t believe this! It bothers me how we get taxed for everything
Me too!
Robbery
I love your attitude and I am doing it too. I get a lot of joy out of my bags and jewellery and life is too short to not do what you want and can afford. We aren’t hurting anyone so if others want to be judgmental that’s their problem not ours.
So true! Enjoy because life is short.
I agree 💯 many years ago I used to hide my shoes (I store them in their original box) but then I had a small closet made to display them why not! And same with bags and jewelry 🎉
It is so much more fun to look at your pretty shoes displayed. Glad you did it!
The new law is super confusing and makes selling even harder and possible more of a loss. Yay to no more guilt! Thank you!
Poshmark gives me anxiety. So many scammers.
So glad you kept it instead of regretting it!
This video is so meaningful and brings an important discussion for any kind of collector.
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Good for you, Melinda! Life is too short not to enjoy the ride. ❤ We're allowed to have and do things just because we want to - full stop. Love this!
That’s the truth!♥️
Good for you….and I’m sorry that you ever struggled with guilt. Let it go…..you deserve these things so enjoy them. Sending you the very best of wishes.
Thank you so much!
The tax issue is not complicated. You will either have a gain or loss, short term or long term. The 1099 will dictate gross receipts.
Thanks for the heads up, I plan to sell a few bags I am no longer using or have never used 🤦🏽♀️
You’re welcome 😊
So true. No more guilt. Glad you got your flap before the prices went crazy! It’s ok to use things rarely I am learning as long as they give you joy!😊
This was such a great videos especially for us bag lovers who constantly feel guilty over what we spend our hard earned money on
Glad you enjoyed!
I love everything you said. I have way too many SLGs but I love every single one of them and I don't care if they just sit there while I keep using my Bottega white cardholder 😊
If they make you happy they make you happy and that is all that matters! :)
That's a fantastic comment by one of your subscribers. We don't need to justify to anyone what we spend on handbags. Everyone has their own thing that they like spending their money on. Not hurting anyone.
That comment was so eye opening and really changed how I look at my things.
i actually used that comment today when my sister told me I had too many pairs of shoes.
Can they?
They won't tax you if you have your receipt and you didn't make money.
@@myluxurycloset529 and that is mostly a never do you make money when you sell! Right?
@@jbtb2858almost never!
@jbtb285 Yes that is correct and you almost always lose money but it just makes selling that much more complicated to now have the government involved.
@@LuxPurseloveI agree it sucks
Think this is a reflection of our economy when no one has extra disposable income for a bag. This may be why your bag sells didn’t happen.
Yes I understand that.
Great Video and Much Needed!
Thank you, no more guilt!
You’re right; luxury bags, like houses, are not assets.
Much love!
I am so sorry for your loses Diane. It is so sad and they were so young. I am glad I could entertain you for a few moments. Hugs Xoxo
@@LuxPurselove thank you so much. Yes it was a good distraction. 🥰
I have many many bags also. Don't be so hard on yourself. I agree with that gal. I am a bag lady.
I'm not anymore, no more guilt!
Hello, hope you are well!! I know you said you weren't going to sell your bags anymore...BUT I heard you mention the Rive Gauche beach bag.
Would you reconsider? If so, how much? If there is a different way you would prefer I reach out, please advise.
Hi, I need to think about that. You can email me at Luxpurselove@gmail.com and we can discuss it.
Hi Melinda I love this video yes yes I agree 💯 love and enjoy your beautiful items unapologetically 💚💚💚💚
Thank you so much! And yes I will!
I am no longer going to sell my bags anymore. I will not buy another bag if I have to sell. It’s not a one in one out. If I don’t have the $$ or if I’m overwhelmed by current collection it means don’t buy anymore. The end
I feel like this too!
I love that!
I love your phone case! What kind is it? The colors 😍😍😍
The case and the pop socket are both Ottorbox brand. I got both at Target.
Great Video! I too keep what I have and enjoy my luxuries every single day! Life is too short to feel guilty about something we love and we don’t hurt anyone!
That is the truth!
You haven't done anything wrong.
While the idea of selling bags is a great idea.. few things to unpack. 1. The consumer thinks they are right lol 2. Low ball offers. 3! The intense headache from it. You’re 9x out of 10 you won’t get your money back. And not to mention the amount of scammers is insane.
That is the truth!
Yes it’s very scary these days in regards to scammers. Never feel guilty about your bags enjoy them, it’s not worth the stress of selling. Have a great day,
So true! Thank you, yes the guilt is gone.
I've sold bags on Poshmark without any problems but they do take 20%. I've also sold bags to Fashionphile at quite a loss, but no regrets.
So funny I just had this epiphany a week or so ago!!!!! I also have 3 daughters, and they can inherit them when I am gone!
That is wonderful!
You can’t be taxed if you sell at a loss
as long as you can document that you lost money
Yes that is true and you do need receipts.
I truly never thought I would regret those so that was a huge lesson learned. Oh I get it, I have declutters too but yes life goes on lol.
Just in case i have not told u, i love the burberry rain boots i bought from u. I think u paid a lot for shipping since it was in a big box and heavy too. Thank you, I appreciate you😍
I am so happy you love them! I didn't put two and two together to notice you were the buyer! I am thrilled they are getting used and loved! Xoxo
👏👏👏 good for you! No reason to feel guilty. You have been responsible your whole life and continue to be with your finances. Enjoy the fruits of your labor
That is very true! hank you, I will!
I wilish i know about the blog sale that chanel bag would be mine
The reporting isn’t actually complicated. Just provide the 1099 to your accountant and explain what was a gain or loss. Everything has always been reportable. Whether you pay taxes is separate.
Hi Melinda! New to your channel and enjoying your vlogs. Just a tiny comment - on the banner at the top of your home page "jewelry" is spelled incorrectly. Clearly a typo but just thought I'd give you a heads up!
That is hilarious!!! That’s been up for years and I never noticed and no one ever told me. 😂
@@LuxPurselove Lol maybe they were just too polite to say anything! I've subscribed today 🤍
The person that is sending you the payment should not put anything in the memo or for section. You will not be taxed
Perhaps trading with trustworthy counterpart is the way to go now❤
Probably would be!
I get guilty if I have bags sitting around not being used. Sometimes they turn moldy. But I guess if you get taxed for selling them, then it doesn’t make sense.
I haven't had any mold issues, that stinks. I have just decided not all will be used the same amount and I am ok with that now.
Great video! I learned something new.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for a very detailed explanation and sharing it with me….love all of your videos… no judgement here either… thank you

Hi Melinda, Does this mean you won’t sell to fashionphile either?
I have barely ever sold to them. I find they give very low offers most of the time.
@@LuxPurselove So true! Fashionphile offers very very low and sell very high!

I don’t see it’s a buyers market with the prices these sites show
I think they will have to come down on their prices soon.

Thanks so much Margaret! His friends crack me up and so does my dad! Best wishes to you as well! Xoxo
Always lovely to hear your fun stories ❤
Thank you!😘😘😘
I’m stopping my workout and the video for a moment to comment Melinda. Firstly you shouldn’t feel guilty for what you buy. Your money. In terms of selling your things, if you sell it to fashionphile or another consigner, you may be able to trade for something you see on their website so you would not be making any money at all I imagine. Just a consideration if you see something you like on a site.
I don't feel guilt anymore, thank you. That is a good idea too!
Same same same❤
Yep the economy has put a hault on disposable income for handbags. Even consignment shops are hurting
Yes they are.
💜
Enjoy. Maybe donate more to appease the guilt.
Thanks! The guilt is gone. Donating always makes my heart feel happy.
Show us your Chanel collection
It is included in my last video, my entire handbag collection.
If some many of us are here is because we enjoy the girly things. 💎💎💎💎
Me too! :)
❤❤❤
You have a beautiful collection.
Like I heard one UA-camr state, “handbags don’t have a conscience.”
You can put them on the floor for a week and they will not have an attitude about it.
It is humans who give them personalities that don’t exist.
So enjoy your bags… take them to the grocery store, wear them while you shovel the snow,
put them on your head while having tea… they don’t care.
It’s a bag & it’s doing its best being a bag, you’ll be never have to fill a college application for it after 18 years.
Use it to it joyfully and bask in having them serve you to the fullest. 🤍
Lol on the college application! Very true they were made to enjoy.
You should be able to prove it was not a profit by selling for a dollar less than you paid with proper receipts but who knows how the law is written.
It’s written to suck us dry
My family and friends don’t judge me that I have handbag’s collection. I think they understand that I love it. But random guy on party did 😂 he says why you spend such amount of money? By the way he spends 2000+ euro on telescopes, this is his hobby. I asked why you can spend your money on your hobby and I can’t?) 😂😂😂 that was funny for me
Good for you!!! I love that comeback!🙌🏻
I am sorry that people aren't honest. I did not see your sale. Will you show your Channel you wanted to sell.
It is in the handbag collection video I just did. It is the big Chanel Deauville tote.
I agree about not feeling guilty! Enjoy the beautiful things you own. If people feel negatively about someone else’s belongings then that’s a reflection of them…Great conversation👜🩷
That is true! Thank you!
