From zn old lady who lives on a tight tight budget. I got a dog 5 years ago out of a rescue from the poorer side of the state I live in. She is fifteen poundz of cuteness. I kept her rescue name. Her breeds are jack Russell and schipperke. She is jet black with some white markings in her fur. I call her a black jack lol. So now here are some of my pet care tips on a budget. Wash her in the sink. Just don't wear things you care about getting wet. I am a retired nurse. Brush their teeth yourself. I went down to one of our local dollar stores and grabbed a cheap $5 childs sonic toothbrush. Now mind you I learned techniques for wrestling with uncooperative confused patients so my dog has learned she's better off cooperating lol. Go to your local low cost spay neuter clinic or shelter for vet care. Lastly invest in pet insurance. I spend $40 a month which is expensive on my budget however it covers 90
Per cent of any big expenses and deductible is low too. If you're not into mud wrestling with your pet like me some policies cover things like dental work under health and wellness portions of policies. I have been pretty broke at times in my adulthood so I was proud of myself for being able to afford pet insurance. And so they don't turn down your dog for pet insurance get it for them while they are young. Let's see oh yes I live in a cookie cutter suburb however your local pet stores have pet washing stations for 10 dollars and they supply blow dryers shampoo and towels. I go to tractor supply where they have a nail trimming clinic on Wed. Nights every 3 weeks. Pet washing only needs to be done every few months unless your dog gets hosed by a skunk or gets really muddy. Now as to cookie cutter suburbs not all of them are as expensive as you might think. I live in the downtown area and can walk anywhere I need to go. Everything I need is within a 5 mile radius and if I'm truly hard up I can take a taxi for 5 dollars cash for a ride round trip. We also have a bus thaT will come to our doorstep and goes anywhere in our county for under 10 dollars.
My best friend is my landlady and I pay a quarter of my income on rent. Our downtown neighborhood is very diverse. Most of our suburb is wealthy but hS a few poor neighborhoods. Some of the area has been renovated some not. My small 900 sq ft house does not have cable so I use data on my cell phone which costs me 25 Dollars a month for unlimited service. I can watch TV free on my phone or use over the air TV free. On my income I save 500 dollars a month and I'm debt free. That consists of social security alone. I too manage to travel once a year. My dog goes with me in cabin because she's under 25 pounds I enjoy being frugal. I am in excellent health other than having bad vision. I lost all vision for 6 weeks in my 50s and have recovered enough that the doctors no longer think I will need surgery. My life is pretty simple and I'm content. 71 years young and thriving. I enjoy your videos
      Best regards

Advice from an old guy here: Beware of vets. Many are being bought up by huge corporations and the costs are becoming outrageous. Small/indie vets often provide good care at more reasonable costs. Next is running for exercise. Enjoy when younger but find other means for exercise as you age. Our bodies are not meant to run for miles every day and it will catch up to you with bad knees and hips later in life. Finally, cars. Some manufactures claim lifetime coolant or super long duration transmission fluid. Never! Always have these changed periodically or risk major repairs in the future.

Yeah, it's crazy. They literally kept offering me products. If I said yes to everything, I would have easily spent $1000+ there. I was even reading about "Heartworm" tests and medication and I think it's just a scam. Dogs can get heartworms, but it's pretty rare. I think it's just something to charge and you can't get the flea/tick medication unless you get them the test. And the medication is like $40 a pill. Worms in the heart of your pet sells to people, I think. It was a local, independent vet, but it was crazy how much it cost. And of course her shots are spread out throughout the year and they can't just do it all at once so I don't have to keep paying for vet trips.

@@ElAgustinIf you have mosquitoes in your area, you might want to consider a heartworm preventative.
We have mosquitoes almost year round where I live, and I've had one dog die from heartworms and another get them and survive after months of treatment.
Heartguard is usually not too expensive and worth it in my opinion.

    • @buttcrack-p2x
      @buttcrack-p2x 3 дні тому +3

@@ElAgustin I'm in ATL as well and foster dogs-- heartworm prevention is absolutely worth it if you're in the south, it is very common here and I've fostered several dogs who came in with it because they weren't on preventatives/were strays. The treatment for it if your dog does get heartworms is very expensive and incredibly hard on your dog's system (essentially poisoning your dog enough to kill the worms but not the dog).
I do save money on it by just getting the written prescription for a generic version from my vet and getting it for much cheaper by submitting it to an online pharmacy for pets ($30 for a six month supply). I do agree that in the majority of places of the US it's probably not necessary, but in the south it's risky not to. Totally agree with you about the ticks/flea treatment though, especially since we don't have a Lyme issue here like up north.

I wouldn’t recommend “Express” as it is rather expensive. I would recommend “Uniqlo” they are a Japanese clothing brand which specializes in high quality essentials at a reasonable price compared to other stores such as “H&M” and “Zara”. A plain shirt usually goes for $20-$25 depending on the style you choose, trust me you won’t buy clothes anywhere else.

¡Hola El Agustín! I really enjoyed this video! Totally agree on YT Premium, good sheets and a well-decorated home. Some time ago when I was much younger and my independent life had just started, I was running some errands when I came across this beautiful gray sofa bed at a department store. Beautiful design, clean lines, great materials. I checked the price tag: it was about 2 months of my salary back then. I started saving money to get it, and even put the photo I found at the store's website as my screensaver at work for a bit of motivation. My coworkers saw it, asked for the price, then started whinning about how expensive it was and how I could get a much cheaper one elsewhere. The thing lasted for some months until I got the money and bought the freaking thing. It's been 11 years and I'm still looking at this beautiful sofa still in great condition sitting on my study room. It was a huge investment at that time but it's worth every penny.

I bulk prepare and freeze meal portions. With a second freezer, I easily have six to eight weeks of high-quality, nutritionally balanced, properly-portioned meals. Thus, on a day I don't feel like cooking, reminding myself that I only have 60 to 90 seconds of microwaving, keeps me from eating out more than two or three times a month. Saves money and makes the correct diet part of physical fitness much easier.

Hi El Agustin, I do resonate with your choices. I have a cat, I love good sheets, like to occasionally dine at cafes and restaurants, I find good quality clothing and shoes can really last, I do like Apple computers - as do many IT professionals. I tend to buy nice notebooks rather than buy a whiteboard. I love international travel, it is a luxury, but if you live in a good country, it can make you appreciate your home even more and enrich you with cultural and geographic experiences. I like to drink tea and coffee, so having great teapots that have nice designs and efficiently brew tea, and coffee implements, are a must. As I like notebooks, I would like to own a Montblanc fountain pen in the future. Fountain pens can be a world of fun and collecting! A decent hifi, music and movie collection saves me streaming fees - I am old fashioned that way. I still manage to enjoy great UA-cam videos and creators like you with just the standard UA-cam offering.

I use a low end Oral B and have been for years. I've also used a Sonicare previously. Dentists tend to know the patients who use them compared to those who don't. My dentist commented after a few seconds in my mouth, "You use an electric toothbrush, don't you?"

As a dentist , rotary oscillating electric toothbrushes like Oral B are evidence based to be the most effective-& as long as it has a 2 min timer , my view is you don't need to splash out for a fancy top of the range model ,-one priced at £25 to £40 ( uk) should do the job just as well as one 3 x that anount.

Star is definitely a 10, especially is she give you Love, and unconditional acceptance. I need an emotional support animal and would like to get a small to medium doggy like you have. When I was growing up, we always had dogs and cat, I never remember having to take our pets to the Vet constantly. Usually they got whatever shots they needed when we adopted them, they didn't seem to get sick all the time like cats and dogs do now. I think the pet food is causing all the cancer and other problems animals seem to have today. My Father was raised on a farm. The dogs never went to the Vet unless they got worms or something. The ate dog food and scraps left over from dinner. Those dogs lived to be like 20 years or more. Times sure have changed.

None of these things are expensive when you consider the value you get for them. This to me is the definition of frugality. My mother washed and reused foil and did many other things like that, so that she and my dad (after giving my brothers and me plenty of advantages) could spend winters in Texas and summers in Colorado. Frugal not cheap!

10 out of 10 for Star , just to mention something about what you said about a dog being expensive, my wife and I discussed this yesterday, we believe our dog is saving us money because she has changed our habits, long walks ( exercise, no gym membership) plus we would normally eat out somewhere or spend money shopping, instead we out in nature going for long walks and packing a lunch , we also invest in a good monthly payment plan which covers most of her vet fees , a dog I believe is a good investment as it can change your lifestyle habits for the better.

Star gets no less than an 8. My pets rank higher because they are mine. Beauty is 10 for Star. She is a beautiful dog. Good luck with the marathon. I ran a 5 k. Yes, you do run a lot. We have bamboo sheets we got at a flea market. Our bed on our property in western PA is in a camper. I spent $400 on a new mattress because camper mattresses are borderline boards. Western PA has lots of state parks within an hour of our fruit farm. I love hearing you say duckorations.😂 It's so cute. We eat out once a week on average. Yesterday I made enough food so I won't have to cook for a couple days. I cook in glass and stainless steel. Good luck with the new engine. My Hyundai has 190,000 miles on it. It has been very dependable.

Star is ADORABLE! Love your new place! Yes on shoes! I wear Hokas and they are expensive but save my legs and feet! Love plants & we are building up our garden and add flowers/bushes every year. Worth every penny! We don't eat out a lot but when we do there is no guilt! I have UA-cam premium. Cannot stand the commercials. Too many! Yes on the prescription sunglasses! Yes on tools! I prefer glass containers. Acers are great! We don't do Apple. Yes on the clothing! I have nice clothes but not an abundance. We buy quality. Yes to travel & experiences! Yes to an decent car! Your dancing cracks me up! 😂😂😂 Great video!

You mentioned precription glasses so I would like to add lasik to the list, it was worth every pennie I spent on it. You can also fund a HSA and pay for it pre tax dollars.

Its a pretty simple procedure but yes go get a few quotes and go with the one you feel most comfy with if your serious. I did 3 consultations b4 I was confident in the Dr to perform it, price was never a deciding factor as its your eyes. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

easy solution to #10: meal planning, silly! cook two or three things that will give you multiple servings, and you're good for several meals before you have to cook again. or have a few frozen pizzas that you can pop in the oven and not have to do any actual cooking. i might get takeout once or twice a month for this reason alone. cooking from scratch is such a joy.

I am curious about youtube red. I have never subscribed because I thought it would mean the creators I watch would lose income generated by watching the ads. It was interesting to hear you say it was worth the money. Please confirm if the ad free platform would take money from the creatures I watch or if they somehow get credit if you have it.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket; instead, diversify into different asset classes to mitigate risk. If you lack extensive knowledge, consult a financial advisor.

Everyone has their own thing they are frugal about. Most of your list is frivolous to me. I agree with the battery powered drill, a good computer and quality clothing (as long as you aren't a fashionista). The rest I'd have to think about for a while before I would spend the money.

You do not need a huge wardrobe… People wear 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. When I learned that statistic, I was able to cut my wardrobe drastically and enjoy what I wore.

a agree on good shoes especially running shoes.. those nikes look like a great daily trainer but for the marathon i would get their premium racing shoes.. the Alphafly 3, which is the preferred marathon shoe, are almost 300 bucks but your feet, ankles, knees and finish time will thank you. good luck with the training and race!
