In 2012,i became an RBK amputee, and 5 months later, was fitted with a test socket, the kinks were worked out of it,and about a week later,i received my permanent one. Upon putting that one on,i got up,and literally walked out of the office, into the hallway, and walked like it was noones business. Fast forward now to May of last year,2019,and i also became a LAK amputee, and am just now, finally getting my definitive leg, hopefully next week, however,i will not get to keep it,as the VA wants me to go thru rehab, before they send me back home with it. When the prosthetist brought my test socket here ( i cant get out of my apartment, due to no elevators, and have been stuck inside, since July of 2019) last week for a fitting,it felt so weird and was such a struggle,as i have been stuck in a wheelchair all this time, and muscles have weakened. It took all i had, just to get up on two legs and stand. I felt like i was going to fall forward, even though i supported myself with a walker. By the time we were done,i felt very overwhelmed,to the point, where i started to tear up. I felt so frustrated, helpless, and felt that maybe this is going to be too difficult, and that i won't ever walk again, which scares me to death,as i'm pretty much by myself and,in my mid-50s now. I have to say, that watching your videos gives me comfort, that perhaps, when both of my legs have been properly adjusted and, with some inpatient rehab,i will once again be as independent as i was, when i was just an RBK amputee, even being able to drive myself in my truck, with no hand controls or anything. I will also need to learn to navigate stairs,as i'm on the 2nd floor of my building, and theres no elevators. I'm glad to have seen your story, and will subscribe to monitor your progress. Thank you for giving me a bit of courage to press on and walk again, and letting me see that it really can be done. By the way, your husband has no idea, just how much he's done for you,by sticking with you through this. Unfortunately, both women i was in long term relationships with at the times i had my amputations done, bailed out on me,as soon as i came home from rehab, both times, with the latest one just vanishing into thin air,as soon as i came home. Having that special someone stick by you during your ordeal was great. He should be proud of himself for that,as should you. :-)

Well said indeed, I'm assuming you're a veteran, so am I. However, in Australia 🇦🇺 we are covered by DVA

Wow, I have been amazed at your journey. I am getting ready to start my journey tomorrow morning here in South Carolina. You have been an inspiration to me. I wish we had a Blue Sky here, but I am sure we have an equally quality firm close. Peace and God Bless you and your incredible Family ! 🙂

I will be picking up my prosthetic here this next week, and I have been AKR since August 17,2023. I am so ready for more freedom. I am curious, do you drive? I need to get back to driving, as I don't have anyone else. My son is 15 almost 16 but he's high functioning autistic and probably won't ever be ready to drive, at least not in the near future. I would love to connect with you somehow and get a crash course on things if that would be ok with you? God Bless you and your journey.

Your doing good! Im a new amputee myself i was T boned May 04 2022 by a 1 ton truck on my motorcycle and lost my left leg i have half my knee cap. Ive had many complications with my prosthetic and socket this past year and i dont know alot about it. Its been a learning curve this past year, but i was curious to why it is your orthotics specialist ofset your prosthetic from the socket? Mines mounted center of the end of my stump. Is there pros and cons to why they did yours this way?
