I mean technically she did protected her for 400 bc it was her child…she only came up with wanted her body at the end but at the beginning she didn’t wanted Ezra to be born while she was a dragon
When Irene was introduced and later confirmed as Erza's mom, after her magic remade a whole continent and shit we were all like "yeah, that's what Erza's mom should be like".
400 years of pain and trauma, on her body and on her mind, twisted her into a monster. She was all alone and had no one to rely to protect herself from the consequences of all that was inflicted on her. Even with that, for all those centuries as a dragon she never stopped caring for her unborn baby, without any second thoughts or intentions towards the baby.
Couldn't help but feel pity for Irene.
I mean let's just take a moment to appreciate how fucking strong Wendy has become! When she was introduced she knew ZERO offensive spells, har zero ability to fight and below zero confidence in herself! And now here she is going against one of the three oldest living beings alive and one of the most powerful people in the world, taking pride in her abilities and the scars she gain from battling on behalf of her guild and her family. She has grown so much you can't help but to feel proud of her😂
Well to keep it real she did execute the dragon roar at the nirvana arc, and it was huge, she always lack the confidence to show her powers and to improve them
@h5y878 ye she did, her first roar. But only after natsu and specielly jellal inspired her and believed in her. And again when she fought cheria, she hated fighting, was scared of it and really never trained for it, she always trained to be the support, yet now, she will jump into the action without a doubt and has the strength to decimate most opponents they face, besides the spriggan ofc(they dont count)🤣
Wait for 100 year quest and you’ll know how powerful she is

Irene is one of the most broken characters in fairy tail. able to enchant an entire continent. able to give inanimate objects magic and a personalities. Gets way stornger onces she's a dragon and be able to summon a magical meteor. This women is too op.

@felix2662 fan service isn't pointless, and no this studio doesn't suck and when studios cut stuff out of the manga, that's what you get with the first few seasons. Hiro doesn't get to choose the animation studio, and no, it doesn't make them specifically look cringe. And use sentences, those were barely even bullet points 😂

She actually protected her for 400 years. Its after she turned human and lost her senses that she went insane and tried to posses erza.
Ok weird scenario but what if the scene with the meteor was like this:
Erza flies into the meteor knowing that she is not able to stop it but Irene sees her smile and how brave her daughter is which reminds her of how much she loved her so she flies herself into the meteor and pushes erza away to protect her. She is able to stop it but dies from the injuries she got from it. I think this way we will have same outcome as next episode without the whole "Erza cutting a meteor" debate

400 years of torture is something NOTHING any of us will ever wrap our heads around. We barely live a century and most of it in relative comfort too
Irene didn't expect Erza to remain fighting against her meteor, so she enchant the meteor to the point that it's easy to crush as if Erza managed to destroy it normally...

Who is literally the mother of dragon so im not surprised where did she get the strength from
one crucial factor you forgot is physical power is different from magical power, although most of her bones are broken the level of her magical powers is still the same, using the benizakura sword imbued with all the magical power she has enough strength to destroy the meteor
No it isn't The problem with people is they just give this attack more credit than it deserves. That spell is just a stronger version of Jellal's Sema and it's clearly weaker than Irene herself a dragon.
Otherwise she wouldn't use it. She knows she can survive it. Which makes this spell as strong as Natsu's attacks when he fought Mother Glare during the future rogue arc. So if you think about it it's just not as powerful as you think it is. And On top of that Erza used magick to propell herself with the hand which is not broken with Dragon Slayer Magic enchanted to the sword. So it makes sense to be honest.
Also people think she defeated Irene no she didn't she just put her out of her dragon form. Irene was still plenty strong and would have destroyed Erza.
So i don't know what's cheap in this.
Also Erza getting up and fighting is nothing new and as feelings and will matters a lot in fairy tail it checks that box as well. It's all there to see and nothing is out of pocket
Erza's Earth fight against Erza's Edolas. They destroyed a floating island. Also, in the Tartarus Arc, Erza pierced the flying cube that was moved by a demonic monster with her spear. After a year, she increased her strength until she used all her magical energy to destroy the meteorite.
I'm so proud of Wendy. She's come so far from when we first met her❤

And we don’t know which bones were broken. Clearly it wasn’t everything since she’s standing on her knees and moving her neck. These moments are stretched ngl
Not to mention she has the best pain tolerance in the entire verse. And her whole gimmick is to be able to fight without moving her limbs so that’s another thing

In terms of potential, Wendy as Wendy Belserion in Full Power might be one of the most powerful in the series.
Yes, Wendy alone has really strong potential. But having Irene is in a whole another story.

Ik Hiro Mashima wants to potray how strong Erza is since she's the Titania but I don't like the way he tried execute it... Given that how strong Irene is with her broken hax she could just destroy Wendy and Erza easily in her base form... He should came up with a better idea if he was that obsessed to make Erza wins every single time...and the fight should be longer... Losing isn't bad yk especially for character development.. as much as i love Erza i just don't find Erza's fights that exciting anymore since she always gets power of friendship armour

I don’t know the exact ages but let’s consider this scenario
Irene lived as a normal human for let’s say 20 years before she became the queen of dragons and assumed the dragon form. Now even if her life was peaceful she should have had a few troublesome years in those 20 years. Later she again suffered for 400 years as a dragon. In short Irene suffered for 400 plus years. So that’s like she suffered for 95% of her life
Now returning to Ezra. Let’s say her age is like 20 (I don’t know the exact ages of the characters). We know she suffered from the very beginning of life with whole jelal thing and all but she did had some good time in fairy tail as a kid fighting against Mira, natsu and gray all while living under their master. So from this if can at least assume erza had about 5 good years out of her 20. 5 good years out of 20 means erza suffered for like 75% of her life.
In nutshell Irene suffered way more and for way longer time than erza
I mean 400 years compared to like 15 or 20 years of suffering is no way fair for Irene
The most (or at least top 3) when it comes to being the most misinterpreted fight of the series. Imma just leave this here because I'm tired of hearing the same talking points from people who learn fairy tail from either instagram reels or king of lighting reviews: Erza didn't win or get close to winning and Irene wasn't going all out.
Erza didn't have "all" her bones broken. That wasn't mentioned (not in the subbed, dubbed, or manga) and if it was ALL then she wouldn't be able to stand on her knees or move her neck. Also her power is telekinesis so it wouldn't really matter. And launching herself high isn't a problem as we saw Dorma Anim jump into space just to dodge an attack.
Let's lowball these characters. Spriggan 12 characters can destroy a continent at the very least. We see Wall deploy a literal etherion canon, Brandish is known for making countries disappear, Invel froze the continent just by clashing, Irene and August both threatened the continent. I'm just bringing consistency. Not to mention Animus and the CSK from Tartaros upscale them even further. With that being said Erza has enough power to destroy the meteor. Especially with her strongest offensive move. I've heard people say that was Irene strongest attack which is also stupid. She used literally one finger to summon it clearly she wasn't serious. She literally just wanted to prove the difference between "high" and "master" enchant.
After that she left herself wide open because Erza can't cut dragon scales. Wendy helped her. People think it's an asspull when really Wendy used that power before and the power system STATES that magic auto regenerates through the air. Wendy rested long enough to get her magic back. Also Erza wasn't tired. Idk why people think that. She was just hurt which isn't the same thing.
Now Irene wasn't defeated. She left her neck wide open on purpose and didn't expect Wendy to help Erza. After that she transformed back to stab Erza. People think she reverted back because of the damage. Not true because:
1. Selene was able to become a dragon after getting hurt and the diablos members said that she could transform after thinking she was half dead.
2. If that was the solution, Irene wouldn't have suffered for 400 years
If she had a health bar it would probably be 80%. She LOOKS more hurt than she is because
1. The blood on her head which she had when she made Erza hit her at the start of the battle and it did no damage
2. The stance that she's in making her look tired. She was already looking like that when she switched bodies with Wendy at 7:15
Irene was fine. Erza and Wendy couldn't move. Stop stretching the story.
I know it's a yap session. Don't mind me but people piss me off when they complain about fairy tail fights then their talking points are garbage and they exaggerate things that wasn’t even mentioned
Thank you. You explained it beautifully. Also one more point if I may add. The credit given to that Deus Sema is just too much. That attack is overrated if you think about it. It's stronger than Jellal's Sema sure but Irene invoking it means she can survive it which means this attack is probably on the level of the punch Natsu landed on Mother Glare in the Future Rogue Arc just probably a bit stronger. So to be honest that metor breaking is not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of themes. A Fully powered and not damaged Erza would have destroyed that with ease. Probably wouldn't even need The Dragon Slayer Enchantment

People like to compare her to the 2. She’s an enchanter who could either dodge, heal, or enchant a buff onto herself. She chose not to in this specific fight.
