As powerful as fairy law is, it's nothing compared to the "Lucy Kick" - probably the most OP ability out there- just look what it did a few episodes back!
On average, any mage can learn whatever spell they want to. Its just that some spells has requirements to actually learn like how dragonslaying magic, normally requires a dragon to teach it to you. There's also the fact that most mages doesn't stray from their specialties and so you often end up with seeing them using spells of the same type. In Master Makarov's case, he started with his signature magic, "Giant". This magic allows Makarov to not only increase in size but also manipulate his body's proportions, he can do it to his whole body(fairytail ep 2) or to select parts of it(like elongating his hand to hit that wind guy). In his long life, he also learned many spells, diversifying his magic arsenal. He can use "Giant", Light Magic, Fire Magic(ep 2 burning the papers), Ice Magic, Wind Magic etc. About Fairy Law, it's considered as an Ultimate Magic and is one Fairytail's secret spells. It's usually the Guildmaster that knows of this spell. The spell only damages those that the caster truly believes as their enemy making it a useful spell to deal damage to enemies while at the same time keeping your allies from becoming collateral damage.
When you think about it there are so many details and complexity to their world and skills and the magic itself. Mashima did a great job with the world-building and the skills and magic building. In my opinion, FT has the potential to reach the level of Harry Potter. Pity it's so underrated because of haters and superficial readers.

Mystogan is one of my favourite character in fairy tail. The early arcs really made him up to be this super badass mysterious guy. He never showed his face to the guild and never fight for it in the open but he always got it’s back. And then the reveal about him being edo-jellal make me loved him even more. I always liked jellal even in his villainous stage, so imagine how excited i am to have a good jellal. Also can we talk about how this guy come from a world with minimal magic and still manage to be a very powerful wizard to be put on the same pedestal as erza and laxus. Dude’s a badass
Think magic as a skill, you can learn a thousand different spells but it take time to perfect just one, that's why most wizards use only one type, specially young ones.
I have to say that i like the dub version of fairy law because in the dub it’s “I invoke fairy law” instead of fairy law activated it makes it feel more mythical

Fairy law is a forbidden magic spell where the user uses their life force as fuel for the spell. Fairy law's ability is that it eradicates anyone the user sees as it's threat the more people the greater the cost
I think I understand what they were trying to say, they just stated it wrong. Fairy Tail is the home of three grand magic spells, one of which is “Fairy Law”. The other two will be introduced later. There are other iterations of the “Law” spell (and it makes a ton of sense when you understand who it is that uses it), and there are likely iterations of the other two spells as well, but they are grand magics that Fairy Tail is known to use.

I am someone who believes that true Family is not defined by blood. Jose really went off the deep end. He completely lost sight of an important fact: He is breaking a LOT of laws. If Makarov hadn't finished him off, the magic council would have. I know they are often depicted as incompetent, but they have they have some trumps up their sleeves. Not to mention that with the kind of shit Jose pulled, he'd be facing a coalition of other guilds in addition to the council if he had won here. And there's no way he can win against all that. Not that all of that would be needed anyway. He is the weakest of the ten wizard saints, so chances are that any of the other eight could take have taken him down like Makarov did on their own. Mages do not necessarily have just one magic. With few exceptions they have to learn magic, rather than being born with any inherent powers. So anyone's free to either specialize or branch out and learn multiple kind of magic. Master Makarov has a sizeable arsenal of different kinds of magic. You already saw him light the stack of council complaints on fire in the second episode. You also saw him re-dress after finding Levy and her team. So at this point we already know he has the giantificaiton magic, fire magic and re-quip on top of Fairy Law and those magic circles he used to intercept the attack Jose aimed at Erza.
@@matrixster6238 But for murder, kidnapping and blackmail he wouldn't have merely been expelled, he'd have gone to prison - assuming he didn't end up dead in the fighting. Not to mention that with Jupiter and Abyss Break he would have wiped out half the city if Fairy Tail hadn't foiled both, so he might potentially have become not just a regular murderer, but a mass murderer with the blood of hundreds of bystanders on his hands. Unless he intended to flee to another country (or better yet continent), there was no way he could have ever enjoyed all those riches if he had gotten them.
Equip magic is spatial magic. Lucy also uses Spatial magic. Both just do it in different ways. Fairy law use to be an incomplete dark spell but was adjusted and perfected by FairyTail’s first guild master. Even though it is a light spell, any fairytail wizard can learn it, but it is not a spell just given or taught to anyone. Master Makarav specializes in several types of magic types like telepathy, light, dispel, fire, and Giant magic just to name a few.
Mystogun's magic is one of the most interesting in the entire series. They don't ever actually explain it, you only see him using it and get the gist of it by seeing the stuff he does, so that keeps the air of mystery. And let me tell you, the stuff he does is awesome.
People might go around hyping up Fairy Law as broken, but it really isn't. The more enemies you target with the spell, the more magic is required. If you don't have enough magic it takes your life force. In this case Makarov had few targets so no disastrous consequences.
Just remember that Makarov is a master, so he's had way more exposure to different types of magic than the average person, not to mention his backstory... Anyway anybody is capable of learning differring magic, it's just a lot harder to learn things that are outside of the type you already started. Think of spending your whole life playing baseball and then picking up football as an addition to strengthen your skill. It's got similar skills such as throwing a ball, running, dodging, etc. But if you were to try to switch over to a swim team, that would be a while other story. Possible, just takes the right kind of mindset and it entirely depends on the character. Long story short, Makarov and some other characters have quite a whole arsenal of different types of magic on them
Fairy Law was one of said Legendary Spells to exist as per Erza's words. Originally called "Law" but Law has too many drawbacks. "Fairy Law" was it's perfected version which is exclusive to the Fairytail guild. Fairytail guild has 3 Great Fairy Spells. The other would be used on the few arcs ahead. Btw, I would not stop you from hating Laxus since he's really a douche at this time. But he'll come by eventually.
I am so close to tears my favorite anime almost 10 years ago and to this day one of the best I have ever ever seen. Love to see people enjoying it to this day. Sad I can't delete my memories of having watched it for over 18 times now
There are bunch of legendary spells mostly theyre legendary more because of the wizard who created them rather than just being a god tier spell. Fairy law for instance has a massive, massive handicap to it that makes it useless in almost any situation but thats for a later arc. Fairy tail alone has three legendary spells btw, all created by the founder of the fairy tail guild.
I'm pretty sure in the fairy tail world you can learn whatever magic you want and you're not exactly confined to your base magic. Not a whole lot of people use multiple different types of magic but there are people who do

The Fairy Law is one of the 3 Fairy Tail's Grand Spells. One of the most powerful. It vanquish everything that the caster sees as it's enemy. The spell is so great it takes 10 years to mastered. Also a wizard can use more than just 1 spell for instant Makarov can become giant, using heavily light magic and use Fairy Law. Mirajane can tranform into others and animals. With good practicing u could master multiple spells at the same time.
Ultear, ul’s daughter, uses her time magic but also disguise magic. Gray can cast both ice make magic, but also the iced shell spell. Gramps uses a specific type of magic shown here, and has learned the spell giant’s wrath which changes his size.

This is why they never say she does enchantment and dragon slayer, just that shes a dragon slayer with a focus on the enchantment aspect of that magic. Maybe its just my take though
Master Makarov uses several Magic like Transformation Magic, Light Magic and Requip and many more. He's a Wizard Saint after all. Also, there a lot of Lost Magic out there and Fairy Law is one of them. Fairy Law is just one of the Three Grand spells of Fairy Tail guild ☺️

Its funny to think knowing what happens in the future, how many former Fairy Tail Guildmasters/members out there that this arc was even considering the destruction of Fairy Tail.
Anyone willing, or maybe just with magical power, are capable of learning many different kinds of magics in this world. However, similar to Pokémon, it’s easier, simpler, or sometimes better to try and master one type. Sometimes, you either have an affinity for something, or trying to take on too much can hinder one’s growth.
Fairy Law is more like a cheat code for Fairytail but also with a great sacrifice, one should master this spell so that it can't backfire. The others "Legendary ultimate spell" will be introduce sooner
There are 3 legendary spells that are passed down onto every fairy tail guild masters, one of them being fairy law. (the other 2 will be shown later on :> ) Makarov's original magic is 'giant' where he can change the proportion and flexibility of his body parts. But becoming a guild master, he also learnt the legendary spells, as well as other types of spells like fire (he can also burn stuff). Essentially he's an old little guy with tremendous powers and a variety of magic abilities :>
its been a while since I've watched these old episodes of fairy tail, but from what i remember fairy tail has 3 legendary powerful spells left behind the first guild master of fairy tail, fairy law is the third most powerful spell out of them or something, not sure Fairy law is a selective spell which only affects those that the caster deems as their enemy, it is not a spell which makarov wields as not as a light-based spell but as the guild master of fairy tail, its one of the spells created by the first guild master of fairy tail so only fairy tail members can learn and wield these 3 legendary spells
[[SPOILERS]] Mavis didn’t make fairy law. What we know as “Fairy Law” was originally just an imperfect, black magic spell called “Law” taught to Mavis by Zeref. Since the original came with many risks and negative side affects, mavis spent her time getting rid of the risks and side affects thus “perfecting” it which led to her making it one of fairy tail’s ultimate spells.
Never noticed that the Master attacked with "light Magic" in this Arc, as he usually uses some Form of "Body modifying Magic". But I guess it is Not Impossible to have different Magic, as Magic is learned in this world as we learned with Grey (Ur/Ul) or natsu (igneel). It seems like people have some Kind of affinity towards a certain Magic Type like lucy's celestial though
Pretty much people have a magic that is just naturally easier for them but they are not bound to a single type of magic. Makarov also used fire magic in episode 2.

True, well Erza actually uses 2 kinds of Magic whenever she requips into her Heaven's Wheel Armor. She uses requip for the armor and Telekinesis to command the swords whenever she attacks. Same goes with her other requips like the Flame Empress armor.

There are other iterations of the “Law” spell (and it makes a ton of sense when you understand who it is that uses it), and there are likely iterations of the other two spells as well, but they are grand magics that Fairy Tail is known to use.

To be honest, the last time I watched Fairy Tail was probably 4/5 years ago, I didn’t even finished it… Doesn’t matter how much I love something, if I watch to much I’ll get tired of it, so I stopped watching it because I didn’t want to hate it, but for some reason I never got back. Rewatching this show with you two is reminding of the moment I first watched this. The nostalgia is hitting hard…

The actual coolest one is Law.
Jose really went off the deep end. He completely lost sight of an important fact: He is breaking a LOT of laws.
If Makarov hadn't finished him off, the magic council would have. I know they are often depicted as incompetent, but they have they have some trumps up their sleeves. Not to mention that with the kind of shit Jose pulled, he'd be facing a coalition of other guilds in addition to the council if he had won here.
And there's no way he can win against all that.
Not that all of that would be needed anyway. He is the weakest of the ten wizard saints, so chances are that any of the other eight could take have taken him down like Makarov did on their own.
Mages do not necessarily have just one magic. With few exceptions they have to learn magic, rather than being born with any inherent powers. So anyone's free to either specialize or branch out and learn multiple kind of magic. Master Makarov has a sizeable arsenal of different kinds of magic. You already saw him light the stack of council complaints on fire in the second episode. You also saw him re-dress after finding Levy and her team.
So at this point we already know he has the giantificaiton magic, fire magic and re-quip on top of Fairy Law and those magic circles he used to intercept the attack Jose aimed at Erza.
Even if he faced expulsion from wizardry, he planned on ransoming Lucy for a crazy amount of money, he could love the rest of his days in comfort
@@matrixster6238 But for murder, kidnapping and blackmail he wouldn't have merely been expelled, he'd have gone to prison - assuming he didn't end up dead in the fighting.
Not to mention that with Jupiter and Abyss Break he would have wiped out half the city if Fairy Tail hadn't foiled both, so he might potentially have become not just a regular murderer, but a mass murderer with the blood of hundreds of bystanders on his hands.
Unless he intended to flee to another country (or better yet continent), there was no way he could have ever enjoyed all those riches if he had gotten them.

Equip magic is spatial magic. Lucy also uses Spatial magic. Both just do it in different ways.
Fairy law use to be an incomplete dark spell but was adjusted and perfected by FairyTail’s first guild master. Even though it is a light spell, any fairytail wizard can learn it, but it is not a spell just given or taught to anyone. Master Makarav specializes in several types of magic types like telepathy, light, dispel, fire, and Giant magic just to name a few.
Mystogun's magic is one of the most interesting in the entire series. They don't ever actually explain it, you only see him using it and get the gist of it by seeing the stuff he does, so that keeps the air of mystery.
And let me tell you, the stuff he does is awesome.
People might go around hyping up Fairy Law as broken, but it really isn't. The more enemies you target with the spell, the more magic is required. If you don't have enough magic it takes your life force. In this case Makarov had few targets so no disastrous consequences.
Just remember that Makarov is a master, so he's had way more exposure to different types of magic than the average person, not to mention his backstory... Anyway anybody is capable of learning differring magic, it's just a lot harder to learn things that are outside of the type you already started. Think of spending your whole life playing baseball and then picking up football as an addition to strengthen your skill. It's got similar skills such as throwing a ball, running, dodging, etc. But if you were to try to switch over to a swim team, that would be a while other story. Possible, just takes the right kind of mindset and it entirely depends on the character. Long story short, Makarov and some other characters have quite a whole arsenal of different types of magic on them
Fairy Law was one of said Legendary Spells to exist as per Erza's words. Originally called "Law" but Law has too many drawbacks. "Fairy Law" was it's perfected version which is exclusive to the Fairytail guild.
Fairytail guild has 3 Great Fairy Spells. The other would be used on the few arcs ahead.

There are bunch of legendary spells mostly theyre legendary more because of the wizard who created them rather than just being a god tier spell. Fairy law for instance has a massive, massive handicap to it that makes it useless in almost any situation but thats for a later arc. Fairy tail alone has three legendary spells btw, all created by the founder of the fairy tail guild.

The Fairy Law is one of the 3 Fairy Tail's Grand Spells. One of the most powerful. It vanquish everything that the caster sees as it's enemy. The spell is so great it takes 10 years to mastered.
Also a wizard can use more than just 1 spell for instant Makarov can become giant, using heavily light magic and use Fairy Law. Mirajane can tranform into others and animals. With good practicing u could master multiple spells at the same time.
I would call Master Makarov's primary magic, "Holy Giant".
Ultear, ul’s daughter, uses her time magic but also disguise magic. Gray can cast both ice make magic, but also the iced shell spell. Gramps uses a specific type of magic shown here, and has learned the spell giant’s wrath which changes his size.

I would argue dragonslayer magic itself Is a type of enchantment magic. The magic is described as giving the user many characteristics of dragons, which manifest via magic. This is why they never say she does enchantment and dragon slayer, just that shes a dragon slayer with a focus on the enchantment aspect of that magic. Maybe its just my take though

Master Makarov uses several Magic like Transformation Magic, Light Magic and Requip and many more. He's a Wizard Saint after all. Also, there a lot of Lost Magic out there and Fairy Law is one of them. Fairy Law is just one of the Three Grand spells of Fairy Tail guild ☺️
Yeah even tho Mater Makarov is a Wizard Saint, he is one of the weaker ones.

Anyone willing, or maybe just with magical power, are capable of learning many different kinds of magics in this world. However, similar to Pokémon, it’s easier, simpler, or sometimes better to try and master one type. Sometimes, you either have an affinity for something, or trying to take on too much can hinder one’s growth.

Fairy Law is more like a cheat code for Fairytail but also with a great sacrifice, one should master this spell so that it can't backfire. The others "Legendary ultimate spell" will be introduce sooner

Makarov's original magic is 'giant' where he can change the proportion and flexibility of his body parts. But becoming a guild master, he also learnt the legendary spells, as well as other types of spells like fire (he can also burn stuff). Essentially he's an old little guy with tremendous powers and a variety of magic abilities :>

Fairy law is a selective spell which only affects those that the caster deems as their enemy, it is not a spell which makarov wields as not as a light-based spell but as the guild master of fairy tail, its one of the spells created by the first guild master of fairy tail so only fairy tail members can learn and wield these 3 legendary spells

Mavis didn’t make fairy law. What we know as “Fairy Law” was originally just an imperfect, black magic spell called “Law” taught to Mavis by Zeref. Since the original came with many risks and negative side affects, mavis spent her time getting rid of the risks and side affects thus “perfecting” it which led to her making it one of fairy tail’s ultimate spells.

Never noticed that the Master attacked with "light Magic" in this Arc, as he usually uses some Form of "Body modifying Magic". But I guess it is Not Impossible to have different Magic, as Magic is learned in this world as we learned with Grey (Ur/Ul) or natsu (igneel).

Pretty much people have a magic that is just naturally easier for them but they are not bound to a single type of magic. Makarov also used fire magic in episode 2.

True, well Erza actually uses 2 kinds of Magic whenever she requips into her Heaven's Wheel Armor. She uses requip for the armor and Telekinesis to command the swords whenever she attacks. Same goes with her other requips like the Flame Empress armor.

Fairy Law isnt actually makarov's magic, its more like the guilds magic, Fairy Law was one of 3 legendary magic created by the 1st/Founder Master of Fairy Tail, while Fairy Law were only for Guild Masters to master/use with their authority as the guild master, the other two can be wield by anyone as long as theyre member of fairy tail and the magic has choosen/permitted to be used by them, yeah u hear me right, the other two legendary magic of fairy tail choose their wielder.
