  • This week we are back at it working on the 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ and continuing on the rust repair. Today I will be fixing any rust on the Jeep doors and installing some lower door armor. The door armor will help protect the door while off-road and give the Jeep a more rugged appearance. In this series I will show you how to do the whole job from start to finish. Today we will be continuing on the passenger side with the door armor. This process is very similar to other Jeeps that have side panel replacements as well. If you have any questions that the video does not cover, make sure to leave them below.

    Your videos are far past my skill level, but inspire me to keep trying new things on my XJ. Thank you for continuing to post videos. I can't wait to see what this jeep looks like and performs like when you are done.

    Thanks for taking the time to make these videos! The floor work and rock sliders can be very aggravating and I would lose the ability to film!😂

    I ended up getting the same exact kit a few weeks ago. I'm about to install this weekend. Looks like you ran into all the issues I'm facing. Good video. This gave me some insight for the can of worms I'm about to crack open.

    seam sealer on the bottom doesn’t let water out.

      There shouldn't be water getting in between the door and armor anyway. This doesn't plug up the factory door drain holes.

    I have my local auto body supply mix spray cans to the Jeep codes, full cans are about $22. They can do single stage or base + clear. A lot cheaper than buying a full pint or those tiny cans from the auto parts stores. Also..I really like those wheels.. are they Jeep wheels or aftermarket?

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  2 роки тому

      I agree, I've done that in the past and it's a great option to go. There are a few websites that sell the paint in cans to the paint code for around the same price. I would've went that route but decided to paint them red at the last minute instead of black.

      I'm not too concerned other than door pin bushing that wear out. I've replaced my drivers door pins a couple years back but still have to do the passenger door.

    Outjeeping. I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE, I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee with the 4.0L and I have been having a stall/no start issue recently, I have replaced the IAC, TPS, distributor cap and rotor, sparkplugs, sparkplug wires cleaned and tested the ECM. But I only just recently found out a solution to my problem. Or so I thought, I figured out my engine wasn't getting air to the motor via the IAC being bad, it would stall while driving and loose acceleration sometimes it would come back but now it completely shuts off. Sometimes it starts back up other times it won't, Until I decided to tap the the IAC senor while my girlfriend turned the key to start it. I replaced the sensor and now it will start cold and run fine for 5 mins even maybe up to an hour or so then shut off yet even after the temp gets all the way to max which is usually 180° or 190° the radiator cap is so cool that you can lay your hand on it and not feel any heat. I have been stressing about the condition of it as it is my only vehicle right now. I could really use some advice as to what could be going on with it. Also Crankshaft sensor is in ok condition and when it is running it sounds amazing and then it just shuts off

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  2 роки тому +1

      To start off with, are you getting any check engine codes? That will help point in the right direction. Also the condition of the throttle body, is there a lot of carbon build up? Especially check around where the IAC goes into.

    • @Dd-bk7rr
      @Dd-bk7rr 2 роки тому

      How is the fuel pressure.
      You can check it off the fuel rail. There is a access point.
      Run carburetor cleaner directly into the air intake while the engine is running and manually pull the accelerator.

    The gaps in the door arent necessarily from the brand. Thats why the hardware was smaller. To allow you to adjust. I would have used the cheap hardware and just added flat washers. But they did look low quality. I wont buy them. The bottom bend wasn't far enough and there is a gap. Rust city.
