    Thanks for another quality video how-to.
    I’ll definitely be looking for some different mirrors when my Rally comes in.
    Happy Trails

      Hi Allen, they do some other round ones too, I guess it comes down to what you’ll use them for. I expect folks who are mostly riding off road will do away with them altogether, particularly the stock ones. From comments from some others in your side of the pond, domestic accessories have had a slow start. I guess once the bikes are more readily available the accessory makers will respond accordingly.

      I think they are very practical, but also quite expensive and they are not the most beautiful thing in the world! 🤣

    Thanks I was looking at those, I thought they were pretty pricey considering how ugly they are but everyone seems to like them.

      People are funny 🤣. It’s a shame that the arms are metal rather than plastic, as they seem a bit over engineered.

    Hi, I was wondering if you thought that the DT mirrors had a wider field of view. I'm a broad shoulder type and it would be helpful (to justify the purchase) if they reached out a bit further than stock. Thank you.

      Good question, I’ll check in the morning.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  3 роки тому +4

      Hi, it’s the morning. I checked and yes, they do. The ‘sticks’ that they are on are longer and offer more movement options so you could have them more upright and taller or the same height but out to the side. Measuring from the top of the thread, to the inner point on the mirror is 165mm on stock. On the DT mirrors it’s perhaps 10-20mm more depending on the position. Also, when I put the mirrors side by side, my ugly mug is slightly smaller (but only slightly) in the DT mirrors, so I think that would also contribute to the field of view being larger on the DT’s.
      The downsides to the DT’s are price, ease of theft, and I don’t think they are very pretty (other beholders opinions are available).
      I’m collecting various mirrors so at some point I’ll do a dual sport mirror comparison… so far I have the original, DT, Acerbis and some cheap KTM adjustable mirrors. If I can get some Touratech ones too I’ll record it.

    Blue locktite might be extreme - I would use yellow or green. they work but release when want you to.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  3 роки тому +1

      The release is on the arm rather than the threaded ball. The arm itself is steel and the ball is steel with a rubber coating. If you knock it, the arm just moves on the ball. It’s also not possible to tighten the ball up that much, only until the friction of the arm to the ball gives up, so I think it’ll be ok. I only have blue.... and mirrors working loose is quite annoying.

  • @sayuas4293
    @sayuas4293 2 роки тому +1

    They seem attractive for thieves. I personally know someone who had them stolen. Any ideas about how to prevent them from getting stolen? They sell a locking knob for the arm but you can still just twist them off the handlebar mount. Even with loctite I think. Taking them off almost every time I leave the bike is annoying, especially if you are on a trip and you need to get off at least a few times a day for things like getting food, toilet etc.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  2 роки тому

      I think pretty much all mirrors are bolt on and can be removed in seconds with a spanner. I’ve not had mine stolen yet, but I suppose if leaving the bike somewhere outside overnight I’d take them off.

    Have these on my 2020 Africa Twin.
    They should have reverse threaded the left mirror stud or at least included one in the event you have standard threaded mirror sockets. The wind pressure loosens the left side stud, whereas the wind tightens the right mirror.
    My left mirror starts coming loose at about 70mph no matter how much thread locker and no matter how much I tighten it.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  3 роки тому

      They should, it’s the first bike I’ve owned where they are both threaded the same. Though mine haven’t come loose yet, either with the stock mirrors or the double take.

    Mirror itself is fine...BUT those stems. Looks likes sausages. I think the original one looks better albeit not as functional but I can live with that.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  3 роки тому

      Yup. You’re right. The double takes are definitely function over form. And I’m not sure it’s worth it… I’ll be doing a comparison video in the next few weeks, so far I have the originals, double takes, some Chinese KTM copy adjustable and the Acerbis mirrors. Someone’s also offered me some other cheap eBay ones they tried and found didn’t work. I’ll see if I can get some Touratech ones too and do a proper price/weight/vibration/looks comparison.
