My brother bought a Timeline and it sounds great but I am just intimidated by the thought that I'm not getting enough tone from it. I'd rather just trust that it sounds good than worry about all the perceived loss of tone

As much as I love Josh, this is fast becoming my favourite video - more Nick, please! I'm also a massive sucker for great video editing (another big reason why this channel is the greatest).
Tim Chalmers either green screen or just splitting the frame... I’ve got a few videos on my channel doing it myself. You just play along to whichever side you record first and leave the camera in the same spot, then edit them together... if you’re using a lot of mics and wanting a good mix and also doing multiple angles/cuts and takes, it can be a nightmare of a workflow between DAW and video editing tho
I love that they are givin' a spotlight to the Julia Chorus, which is almost a direct competitor to the JHS Emperor. That is so down to earth, love it! And btw, I own the Emperor, it is a KILLER pedal, go and buy it now everyone :)
Good on you mate, we need to see you more often, I just cleaned my pedalboard yesterday and kept only the simple ones and the one I made, most of the keepers are vintage simple pedal.

I used to be a bigger pedal head but the immense amount of features on more complex pedals, plus the jock-ish culture of it all made me a tuner, mini tubescreamer and boss DD-20 kind of person. Starting to get back into pedals (looking at some jhs ones rn, the bonsai sounds so cool!), but more and more I'm finding the less options you have, the more creative you can get. The limitation can be really fun and get you to push your current pedals for more sounds!
I'm surprised about the observation being "jockish", I mean I am not comparing the same kind of cultures and types of players/scenes as you're referring towards because the big pedal nerd scenes are some of rhe nicest, openminded and welcoming to all types of pedals (and I'f Not, then modify it ya dingus:P) May I suggest some channels? More well known are the awesome coffee and riffs channel for Playing, then the same company as that (old blood noise endeavors) also had the best shit to come into a little sub type of yt genre with the channel Knobs coming out in the early to mid 2010s playing pedals indepth and a unique video style that many do now similar that's nice to just listen with no talking but captions to read the info about the pedals and great playing that's not stuck in only metal/90s rock classic rock/commercial grunge and stuff but isn't only shoegaze and dreampop sounds too with math and other genres used to not be bored and always become inspired to play something new after watching any video . The lesser known channels are gonna take me a sec to look up for you. I'll be back, no worries if you're not interested in this tho btw! Was mostly curious, but went off in a excessive directions somehow lol

Sorry it's not easy trying to remember all 20+ or so of the channels I wanna share to check out but my phone is making it impossible :( One channel.is cool from.this guy who handmade makes the pedals for less than 100 bucks or so for really great quality and unique pedals on level with Alexander, strymon, and other expensive but amazing pedals and he demos the In the videos with new ones made like every month, he has a more black metal and dark vibe for most of the pedals and a ton of unique distortion and fuzz mixing stuff that's great and similar to caitlenbreads one cat fuzz pedal I had back in the day but forgot its name,, but anyways I'll stop going on any longer as I have gone further than really wven necessary lol. My bad Btw I don't intend to come off assuming you don't know this stuff possibly already or assume I know more or am better or trying to pull some douch shit so I hope i don't come off arrogant with this. I would love to hear about any channels recommended actually, stuff is just super exciting for me to talk about lol
I’m finding even my new delay/reverb pedals are pretty simple. Thank God! There are way more complicated versions, but that would be way ahead if my skill set. At this point, I’m super grateful for simple.

Well done Nick! Are all of these really "simple" pedals? What is "simple"? I think simple should mean one effect, one on/off switch, and three knobs or less. Is Chorus/Tremolo one effect or two? I can see the argument that it's one effect across a continuum, but that's pushing for math instead of art; it's two separate effects. The Bonsai? Definitely more than a one effect. And both have more than three knobs, so there's that. Just saying.

You mean vibrato not tremolo and chorus vibrato is technically the same effect with different amounts of dry signal

The new Strymon Nightsky is well beyond just a another reverb pedal. It's a synthverb, and I've never seen that before! Very cool.
Yeah I want it but I use reverb in a utilitarian fashion I don’t have reverb on my amp. It would be too much of an insane reverb option.
